Response from Rose Pest Solutions
[removed memebr name], when I saw your note on here, I kinda flipped too because we don't charge that much for ants! After talking to a couple of the staff members, the service manager and the branch manager, I realized that there may have been a misunderstanding over the phone with those numbers. Is it true you mentioned a mouse problem as well? And the ants you have...they are carpenter ants, yes? (The bigger black or dark brown ones that leave piles of sawdust-looking material near where they are burrowing to form colonies.) I confirmed with my coworkers that you may have been quoted $225, which would include a carpenter ant treatment as well as rodent control, and a 60-day guarantee. During that guaranteed time frame, if the carpenter ant problem became worse or didn't get better, we'd return without an additional fee to you. Carpenter ants are a completely different animal to get rid of because they're wood destroying insects. The products and inspection method is much different from any other type of ant. That is why the price would be slightly higher than if you had tiny ants on your kitchen counter. I wanted to mention, too, just in case this was missed in our explanation of the value of our services that $225 would also include a preventative barrier on the exterior of the home. This keeps you protected from a variety of other insects as well, such as spiders, earwigs, centipedes, silverfish, boxelder bugs, asian lady beetles, etc. There is a long-term program available at a reduced fee every three months as well, called our "Healthy Home Maintenance Plan". After taking care of the carpenter ant activity during the first visit, we usually recommend an ongoing service (it's not obligated at all, but offered as a money-saving option) because it's not only the best bang for your buck if the bugs come back a few months down the line, but it's also the solution for your peace of mind because it's guaranteed all year 'round. Any visits in between your routine quarterly services is on the house. Carpenter ants tend to create multiple "satellite" colonies near a prime food source, which is unfortunate that they seem to have chosen your property for this. Instead of chancing it with a one time treatment, an ongoing service at the lower price would keep your home and property protected just in case they come back from a neighbor's yard or something. I feel terrible that there may have been a misunderstanding or communication failure on our part. Please apologize to your husband for us? And if you feel $225 is more reasonable for all that I explained is included, please don't hesitate to contact me directly by sending me a message through Angie's List so I can help you get scheduled if that is what you decide to do. We want to help. And we're really sorry for the number mix-up and for failing to explain the value of that fee. If you want to move forward, I'll honor a discount for you as well. :) My Kindest Regards, Janelle
