Our contractor was going to charge us $4,000 to dig out our interior foundation and set drain tile. Reliance Plumbing came and found the source of the problem - a broken pipe. They fixed it the same day! Alex is a great water detective!

We couldn't be happier with the service provided by Lawrence Liss of Reliance Plumbing. Our sump pump motor burned up with all of the recent rain & basement flooded. Lawrence Liss came to the rescue and worked through the night to install new pumps as well as work outside in the rain to run PVC piping away from the house. If you use this company....ask for Lawrence Liss if you want the job done properly! He thoroughly explained how the new pump alarm panel worked as well. Very professional young man who knows his business.

They were punctual, gave me a several reccomendations and options, and then got the work done in a timely manner.

I received 3 quotes from Alex at Reliance. The first one was for $1,715, the second was for $1,015 and the third which he told me wouldn't fix the problem was $485. He explained the issue which involved pumping the septic which I have done many times before. With that, and a call to the septic company I had used, I paid $300 plus $380 for clearing the drain instead of the gracious $1,715 that he offered. The past several times I have used Reliance, I have felt that I am being gouged, so I will no longer be using them. A shame given that they are a local company and I like to support local providers.

The technician showed up at the requested time listened to my explanation of the issue and took a look around. He spent maybe 20 min at my house, most of the time was looking around my yard and in his truck writing up estimates for various "packages" of service they could offer. Prices were extremely high (based on my research here) and he was surprised when I asked if he could leave me a copy of the estimate so I could make my decision after receiving other quotes for the work. He stated that they don't leave estimates for fear of being undercut by the competition. I ultimately went with someone else who offered the same guarantees that Reliance had but for a fraction of the cost quoted (who gave quotes in line with what other's have reported on this site and was also highly, I might add). My biggest mistake in calling Reliance was the fact that they don't provide free estimates (which I can understand for small jobs, but for work that costs thousands of dollars it seems to be out of the ordinary). For the 20 min the technician spent (mostly writing up the estimate that he would not leave with me), I was charged $89. To be fair, they said they'd apply that as a credit to the work should I select them. However, the price quoted was so much higher than the other 2 quotes I received it was still cheaper to eat the cost of the quote from Reliance. If you call them for a quote on a big job, be prepared to have them do the work, or else expect to pay for the estimate.

Like most of their competitors, Reliance charges a fee for dispatched estimates which would be deducted from any final invoicing of work. Michael was promptly dispatched to my home to assess a particularly challenging drain replacement: the original builder made no allowance for service access to the tub 30 years prior. Any repair would require demolition of the tub enclosure or ceiling below. Michael's assessment and quote recommended cut-in to the side of the tub, but it was unclear if this would have given him enough access for the repair. We were fearful that the initial effort would have quickly escalated into more work. We also were distrustful of a company that charges line item warranties for their own service (i.e. 6 months vs. 1 year vs. 2 years) and does it's scheduling and quoting from an electronic tablet with nothing in writing on the front end. We subsequently were able to make this repair on our own and avoided the expense - which likely would have ratcheted up to over $1200.

They did three jobs over the last two months. They installed a emergency backup sump pump and fixed the initial problem. I will highly recommend them.

My wife called these guys last minute to fix a running toilet. I wish we had done more research beforehand. Unfortunately, they came to our house when both my wife and I were out, and my too trusting in-laws oversaw the work. The plumber spent 45 minutes replacing a flapper and a few other parts (all the materials cost less than $20 at Home Depot), and they charged us $475 for the work. When I got home and heard how much they charged, I was absolutely shocked. I called Reliance and try to understand why they charged so much for less than an hours work. I pointed out that the material cost was less than $20, and that they were essentially charging us $455 for less than an hour's worth of labor. The gentleman I spoke to indicated that he could knock off $15 by removing the two-year warranty. I told him that made no material difference, and that the labor rate of his competitors was more like $180-200/hr. He said that his is a "premium shop", and that they do premium work. I'm surprised they are rated so highly on Angie's List. They score only 2.5 out of 5 stars on Yelp, which seems like a more accurate rating based on my experience. Based on my research, five-star rated plumbers on Yelp, such as Green Tech Plumbers, do premium work for less than half the cost. Had I had time to make the call, I would have gone with Green Tech Plumbers. The gentleman I spoke to at Green Tech was honest and helpful and actually tried to dissuade me from hiring him and suggested I did the work myself. We've learned our lesson. We will never work with Reliance again, and we recommend others to go with a different plumber who will do the same work for less than half the price.

Reliance Plumbing did an amazing job. The crew was extremely professional and worked very hard. We were extremely pleased with the work they did and would definitely recommend them to friends and family. Great company and great job!

Reliance sent a plumber out and he literally just turned the water heater back on because he thought I just didn't know how to do it. He did not diagnose the problem and the. Proceeded to look at a label on my heater and tell me that the heater was over 10 years old and needed to be replaced and that I should call them so they could schedule the work. I was immediately suspicious and dug up the paperwork for the water heater and it turned out it was installed only 6 years prior (we were not the owners of the house at the time). There was mothing on the label on the heater that indicated what year it was installed so it seems the plumber just made that "over 10 years old" claim to pad the business account. So he lied to me and almost cost me thousands of dollars to replace a perfectly good appliance. Luckily I am not gullible and did my due dilligence to verify his claim. Anyway, guy leaves my house and the heater turns off again. I turn it on, goes through a cycle and turns off again. I google it and figure out what the problem was, it was the motherboard for the appliance. Well, not only was the heater not 10 years old, it was under warranty so the manufacturer sent us a new motherboard and we ended up finding a friend that installed it. Here we are 4 years later and the heater is still working just fine. I called Reliance back as soon as I found the heater paperwork and told them that I want a refund for their $90+ service charge (they charge that just to show up) because their guy not only did not diagnose or fix my problem, he flat out lied so the company can make some money off an unnecessary heater replacement. The manager refused, was rude and hung up on me when I told him that I will make sure I leave reviews wherever I can that they are untrustworthy and try to swindle customers.

We called several plumbers who had previously done work on our house...none were equipped or willing to do the work that needed to be done. Only Reliance Plumbing was even willing to engage the problem -- coming out on the day we called -- and for that we are extremely grateful. Rather than try to talk us into an expensive flood control system that we couldn't afford, Alex took it apart and put it back together again, discovering the check valve broken but the gate valve working fine...it was still in working order. We've since used it and it appears (knock on wood!) to be back in business. Thank you, Alex, for all your hard work and for your commitment to doing a job that others found daunting. You're one of a kind.

Technician showed up an hour after the two hour scheduling window agreed upon the day prior. technician primary objective appeared to be to identify ways to increase the scope of my requested service - unclog the drain. Technician was nice. efficient and opened the clogged kitchen sink drain ... for $420.00. My kitchen was inoperable so I did not have the luxury to shop for another plumber so I authorized this repair at this obscene price. The repair took less than 1/2 hour ...

We called Reliance to help us remove old copper piping and cap-off the supply lines before we took down an old shower stall as part of a basement bathroom remodeling project. Reliance was our only call to a plumber simply based on prior good experience with them. George arrived within 30 minutes of our call, assessed the situation and gave us an estimate. During the assessment he gave us some advice for how and where to run the supply lines to the future brand-new shower unit. Once agreed on all the work to be done, he moved ahead with the work. He was tidy, cleaned-up after the work was done, and went around to every fixture in the house to ensure all the air was out of the water lines, no leaks where the repairs were made, and took his tools outside and finished writing the bill. Before we settled on payment, he checked his work again and made sure everything was good. He reminded me of the warranty on their work and offered to come back out if there were a problem. My only complaint - and it's a small one - was the price, even with the A.L. 15% discount. It's been a while since I last hired a plumber, so I had a bit of sticker shock. However, the value, service, prompt response time, and professionalism I received made it all worth it. They have secured my business for the next plumbing-related call. Thank you George.

The cement match in the driveway isn't perfect, but I had already thrown $5,000 at a flooding problem with virtually no improvement and this design seems to have done the trick. The only reason I'm giving a B on Pricing was for the estimated cost of rodding in the future, which seems high. But they seem to know what they are doing. That's a good thing when you need a problem solved.

Excellent. The two plumbers came right on time, were prepared with spare parts if needed, did the job very carefully and professionally, did one extra task at no charge, gave contact information in case anything happened (which it didn't). Very friendly and professional.

Martin arrived within the stated window, introduced himself and began the work immediately. He assessed the problem, determined that there were no breaks in the sewer line only a sand clog. Before recommending jetting the line to clear it he tried 2 procedures with the tools he had at hand. The second one worked. This saved me a substantial amount of money. I am very appreciative of his efforts and success. I found Martin to be friendly, professional and have a genuine concern for treating the customer honestly and respectfully. On a 4 star scale I give Reliance 5 stars.
