Came in to purchase new snow blower blades to replace ones that were worn out (from a machine I purchased from them 2 years prior). They proceeded to tell me that they have them in stock, but would not sell them to me and that they were only for snow blowers THEY repair. Not sure how these people stay in business with the attitudes they have anytime you visit their store. I have always tried to keep my business local and with the little guys, but I will no longer have any business with these people as they treat their customers like dirt.

We told [member name removed] that we did not have any paddle kits for sale, since all of our remaining kits were already allocated for jobs pending in our repair shop that were here before he came in. Customer was advised that more paddle kits would be arriving in a couple of days. He did not think that he should have to wait.

They carry high quality products and can explain in detail why their basketball hoops hold up over time. They worked hard to install our basketball system ahead of schedule. Very polite and profressional. The system we have is far better than the Lifetime Elite system we wasted our $$ on 6 months prior.

Description of Work: Very Rude people. They act like they are doing you a favor waiting on you, even though we are their bread and butter. One of the brothers should not be in sales. Very grumpy and aloof. He should stay in their repair shop. Anything I have brought in for repair takes forever. About five years ago I bought a Toro mower which came with a five year free blade sharpening. I bring in the blade and they tell me it will take 3 weeks to get it back. Three weeks! I asked them if they sent the blades to Tibet for sharpening. This was in July so they told me I should buy another blade...! I did, buit not from them. Got it for 70% of what they charge. I took the blade elsewhere and had it sharpened while I waited. Took about 20 minutes. They will not budge on any prices. Even if you have bought ten machines from them, they will not give you even a 5% discount. Nor will they comp you. i.e. Bought the Toro and asked if they would throw in a 2 gallon plastic gas can. Nope. Had to pay the $10 even though I just paid over $500 for the mower. Right now I am looking for other shops which will treat me like a customer and who will back up their products. I have not found it with these people. No more "stuff" will I purchase from them.

In addition, one of the guys, who wears the blue overalls is really condescending and abrupt. Abunch of them look like brothers. All but one seem very nice.
Description of Work: 9 year old snowblower was running rough and didn't have the power I expected. Took it to them to diagnose and estimate. They called back and told me it was really messed up and wasn't worth repair... Fuel system would need total replacement, etc. Seemed a little strange since unit was old but lightly used. When I went to pick it up I looked at some new units and they told me that I wouldn't have to pay inspection fee if I bought a new unit. I decided I didn't want to spend the money on a new one and would just use a shovel. It was at that point that they said, "well let's see what's wrong with your old one." They looked at the report from their guy and said that fundamentally eeverything was good with the engine and that they could get it back into good as new shape. they quoted me a price and we agreed. When I went to pick it up, they had exceeded estimate by about 25%! For that, I would have bought a new one.

I ended up taking my snow thrower somewhere else.
Description of Work: I went to Dehne's to get a part for my snow thrower, which had not been working for some time. While I was there, I asked about bringing it in for them to look at it, and they replied very dismissively that it would be a month before they could look at it. I told them the problems I was having and they started telling me all the things they thought was wrong with it. I just didn't appreciate their attitude, with all the snow we've been having it was very frustrating to me and they seemed pretty arrogant about it all.

We purchased a snowblower from Dehne about 5 years ago. After 2 years, the manual start didn't work, so we had them take it in for repair. They said they fixed it and it seemed to work, but next Winter the manual pull didn't work again. After the Winter was over, we sent it back again and asked them to fix it. They didn't put that on their work request, so nothing was done. Again, the manual start would not work during actual snowblowing. This year we sent it back one more time. I called and specifically explained the situation. When, after several months they finally looked at it, they said it was fine. I called and explained the problem again. Their only response was that because they couldn't duplicate the problem there was nothing to fix. Never mine that I'd had the problem now for 3 years. They weren't going to replace the manual start (I never asked them to, just to fix the problem) without authorizaion from the manufacturer. They complained that the manufacturer did not care about small dealers, only about big stores. They said that if I called the manufacturer and got them to agree to cover it, they would replace the starter, but they were not willing to call them or take any action to get it done. Subsequently, I did call the manufacturer's customer service and was told "we won't do anything". On top of this, one of Dehne's supposed services is to pick up and drop off equipment that is serviced, but since they aren't going to service my snowblower, I'll have to pay to have them deliver it. It won't fit in my car. Needless to say, I'll never purchase anything from Dehne again. Same goes for the manufacturer. Note-I am the director of Quality for a manufacturing company and deal with customer complaints and issues all the time. I'd be fired if I treated a customer this way, and although some problems are intermittent like this one, they're still real.

They always get the job done, and do it well. My only complaint is that their service is so good that many of the local lawn service companies use them and it can take several weeks to get the annual tune-up done, especially if we bring the mower in to them in the spring. This year, my husband remembered to take the mower in in February, which was much better as we had it back by the time the grass needed to be mowed.
Description of Work: We bought our lawn mower from Dehne 26 years ago. They have replaced the engine and done a lot of other work on it over the years. Cost estimate is for annual tune-up, filter replacement and blade sharpening.

Dehne was very honest and professional. They gave me an accurate idea of how long the job would take and they were up front that my snowblower was not one of their authorized brands. They did the job and did not try to sell me a bunch of un-needed parts or labor. When I got the machine back it was cleaned up and running better than before, (I think they tweaked the carburetor for free).
Description of Work: Dehne repaired my snowblower; it was jammed with a newspaper that I inadvertently scooped up while cleaning the driveway.
