Rob and Laura provided terrific assistance with all three stages of the project. Laura's drawings brought the project to life, and the practical, helpful advice we got in cabinet choice from both Laura and Rob was exceptional. And the team of folks that completed the buildout were extremely professional and courteous. No doubt there are probably other good kitchen remodeling Companies in the Chicagoland area that do the big things well. But the difference between the merely good ones and the really great ones is to be found in how well they do the little things. And CabinetPro is one really great Company, folks. From making sure that the spacing between the cabinetry is visually perfect, to the accuracy of the painting detail, to the proper blending of the wood tones on the floor, etc, etc, etc................ Little things really do mean a lot. To say that we are merely pleased with our new kitchen would be the understatement of at least the last 20 years. Thank you, guys, once again, from both of us. And please accept my profuse, no excuse apology for such a tardy review.
Description of Work: My wife and I began our kitchen remodeling project in the spring of 2011. We are busy CPA's and were particularly concerned with undertaking a project of this magnitude. We needed assistance with 1) the design stage; 2) the cabinet choice and configuration stage; and 3) the execution stage. We engaged the Company in June, 2011, and the buildout commenced in mid-July of 2011.

I would go to Bob for anything cabinet-related. He's a calm professional who doesn't make a mountain out of a molehill. He looks at the problem, fixes it and does it with professionalism and without drama...or trying to wring out your last dime. In fact he refused to take any money for helping me! How often does that happen? You know how sometimes you feel like you're having an incredibly lucky day and should really go buy a lottery ticket? Well, that's the kind of day it feels like - because I found Bob on Angie's List. I've got some other cabinet work that needs to be done in my kitchen, and Cabinet Pro is now the numner one name on my list. Am I pleased with the work? I couldn't be happier!
Description of Work: I had a drawer that was blocked by a new wall oven that's wider than the one it replaced. The silverware drawer in my 20-year-old custom cabinetry couldn't be opened unless the oven door was opened, so I needed to have the drawer facing trimmed by 1/4 inch. This was a bigger deal than you might think, because the drawer facing is curved and covered in a distinctive white on white formica. If you know anything about formica, you know it can chip or crack or splinter when you cut it - and ruin the entire piece. Bob hadn't done the original cabinetry, but when I called to ask if he could help me with this small but critical problem, he told me to bring the drawer right over - he'd do the job while I waited. Wow. Other companies I'd called had told me to drop off the drawer and they'd get back to me with an estimate in a day or two. So I stopped by. Bob welcomed me into his workshop, did a precision job of trimming the drawer facing without disturbing the original formica, then did an incredible job matching the color with new formica on the cut edge, so you simply can't tell anything was changed.

Perfect. Everything was perfect. Cabinet Pro said 3 week it took 3 weeks and 2 days. One day was memorial day. Carpenter was great.
The overall experience was good. We originally had a quote from a big box store for our kitchen remodel which was going to include cabinet refacing, new countertop, sink, and faucet. The big box quote was much $3-$4thd more and they explained that each part of the remodel (cabinets, countertop, & plumbing) would be separate contractors and they couldn't guarantee that each job would be done back-to-back. We started looking at different local shops and came across Cabinet-Pro's website. The before & after pictures on their website looked promising and after looking at their reviews on Angie's List, we decided to call for a quote. Our initial in-home visit was with Laura, their designer, and she was very helpful - listening to what our needs were and making helpful suggestions along the way. During her in-home visit we received our quote and decided that we would take a trip up to their offices to see what hardware options and granite options were available as well. Once we were up at the office and had everything picked out, we went ahead and signed the contract. Laura informed us that they would send out someone to take exact measurements & then the materials would be ordered and in approximately 4 weeks they would start the remodel. She gave us the option of going to the local granite warehouse to pick out our exact slab of granite we wanted. Laura also met us at a local tile shop on a Saturday morning to help my husband and I pick out tile for our backsplash. Their timing was right on. Approx. 4 weeks later the remodel started. Each day, Jose showed up on time and worked very hard to keep the project moving along. At the end of each day, he would show me what he accomplished that day and what his plans were for the next day. He stayed right on schedule and got the cabinets done in 5 days. He was very meticulous and did excellent work. He answered all of my questions and made sure the job was done perfectly. Throughout the week other guys came in to do the undercabinet lighting, countertops, plumbing, and tiling. Cabinet-Pro handled the scheduling of everyone. A majority of the work was done within the 5 days (M-F) including the cabinets, countertop, sink, faucet, plumbing, and undercabinet lights. The only thing they had to do the following week was the tile. We had a little blip with the tile installation as the gentleman who was sent to the house did not speak English. There were a few tiles that were not cut evenly, however as there was a communication barrier there was not a way to fix the situation during the time he was there. I did contact Cabinet-Pro during this part of the project to voice my concern and they were very understanding. Once he was done, I did call back to let them know I wasn't 100% satisfied with the tile. Within a few days, they had someone come out and correct the problem and I am 110% happy with the finished project now. I would definitely recommend Cabinet-Pro and we may even use them in the future to re-do our bathrooms.

Our 25 year old kitchen was in need of updating, but we did not want to break the bank and were happy with the overall layout and the condition of the current cabinetry. We had one estimate previous to Rob's, which just involved refinishing our current cabinet doors. Rob's price for refacing was higher, as expected, but very competitive. We made the right choice to reface, as the new cabinet doors and hinges look great and perform beautifully. We liked the fact that we could use CabinetPro for the cabinetry and the countertops, which helped things go smoothly. We absolutely love our new kitchen! Laura was very helpful with choices, especially in encouraging me to go with the white cabinets I really liked. I had concerns as we were not replacing the floor, which is off-white. I am so glad I followed her advice and went with the white cabinets, she also narrowed in on a granite choice for us our first day, which ultimately was the granite we chose. I couldn't be happier with the choices, it's a big change from our old light tone wood cabinets and beige laminate countertop! Jose, who did most of our installation, did a wonderful job. He arrived promptly every morning, and cleaned up each evening before leaving. He was meticulous about making sure the cabinets were level before the granite installation, which went smoothly. The new base cabinet fits in seamlessly with our other cabinetry. Work was started right on the timetable Rob gave us, and completed within the time estimated. We had a few add-ons that we requested, but other than those the price was exactly what was estimated. After completion, I had one mishap with a cabinet (my fault) resulting in a screw shearing off into the wood. I called Laura and within a day Jose was back and took care of the situation in minutes. I love to cook and use my kitchen constantly - the small change in layout has made it much more efficient and I am really appreciating the visual change. We would definitely use CabinetPro again for another project.
Description of Work: We did a mini remodel of our kitchen, which included refacing existing cabinets and replacing all countertop. There was one minor change to the layout, which involved taking out a kitchen desk and moving the refrigerator to that space. We were able to switch the top cabinets, but had to have a new base cabinet installed in the old refrigerator space. Cabinet Pro did all of the work involved in this, including plumbing. We purchased our own new sink and faucet, which they installed. We hired our own electrician and tile installer for the backsplash. The only appliance we replaced was the oven, which Abt delivered and installed.

I started this in early November, with the hope and promise that it could be finished by Christmas. By the time I got over to pick out the cabinets it was mid-November. Rob and Laura helped by showing me a few samples of granite and a few samples of flooring so I wasn't overwhelmed by a lot of choices. Laura also gave me a great suggestion for ordering light fixtures (I ordered one of her suggestions and two of my own). I've never had that much work done in my home and was a bit frustrated at the inconvenience of not having a kitchen sink or microwave, but that was my own fault. They finished the work on December 23, all was working and though it took me some time to put everything back and clean up, I was able to function. Because of the time crunch Rob chose faucets for the kitchen and both bathrooms and it probably wasn't what I would have picked but his choices worked out much better than mine would have. My only very small disagreement was a couple of cabinets I asked to have installed in my laundry room. I didn't need the quality of cabinets I used in the other rooms, and Rob put in cabinets he had in stock. The fit and color were not quite as good as standard stock cabinets from Home Depot would have been, and cost about the same. But the overall job was extremely reasonable and very well done. I would have no problem recommending them for similar work.
Description of Work: Cabinet Pro replaced my kitchen cabinets, counter tops and floor, and vanity, lighting and floor in two bathrooms. they also installed the appliances I purchased at ABT, since they weren't quite ready for the install when the appliances were delivered.

After getting a quote from one of the big box stores for cabinet refacing, I was pretty discouraged but I thought I would try CabinetPro based on some of the comments on Angie's List. I spent about $10000 on the services. They were pretty good. I’ve done a ton of remodeling in almost forty years of my home ownership and they were better than most. They were responsive to my things that I wanted done except for one thing. They did the job pretty much in a timely manner. There were some things that they never brought up and it didn’t feature long after they left, and the check included the bank. There were some things in my hardwood floors and I don’t know if you’re supposed to expect them. I would probably use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Cabinet Pro Inc for new cabinet fronts. I last used their services sometime in the last three months. They did new fronts on the cabinets.

Overall, we are quite pleased with our new kitchen. It was a major transformation of the space. We went back and forth quite a few times on the design and even made some modifications as the project progressed. They were timely with all aspects. Furthermore, the installer did a great job working with the many challenges of renovating a 100 year old home. The quality is great!
Description of Work: Rob and Laura provided kitchen designs and information about the different cabinets. Laura was the main coordinator for the project. We purchased the cabines, countertops, and sink from CabinetPro and they performed the installation as well.

Laura and Rob responded very quickly to my initial request, came out to my home within days and completed their proposal within a day or two of the visit. They were very professional and their price was not unreasonable for the scope of the project. Unfortunately we decided against the refacing option and did not find a cabinet in their lines that matched the style we were looking for. I would certainly consider them for a future remodeling project and have, in fact, recommended them to a friend interested in refacing her kitchen cabinets.
Description of Work: They bid on two options. One was a refacing of my existing oak cabinets and the addition of several new cabinets to match the new refaced cabinets which were to be cherry along with some remodeling of an existing pantry area, replacement of the ceiling drywall and installation of a new granite countertop. The other option included removal of the cabinets and the existing soffit and the supply and installation of new cabinets.

It went very well. They did an excellent job. We needed some things modified and they came back to take care of it. The workmanship was good and the design assistant was excellent. They also hooked us up with a good electrician for lighting in the kitchen. We were extremely satisfied with them and we would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: They resurfaced our kitchen cabinets and built out some storage in the cabinets. We also worked with their design people for some design and decorating work.
While we live in a community known for its large homes and expansive kitchens, we had fairly modest expectations of our own remodel, something on the order of -- let's just get a kitchen that works! However, the ideas we got from Cabinet Pro went well beyond our utilitarian plans, and not by way of encouraging us to spend more but to consider things like the impact of wood grains and cabinet styles in the context of a 100-year-old house. Throughout, I was given as much advice about where we could save money on our kitchen and bath as on how to make them attractive. I had never expected to get the kind of sophisticated design concepts that Rob Casden offered for both the kitchen and bath. The end results are perfectly beautiful --and functional, of course! Bumps in the road: Although none of the following had to do directly with the project in question, it was affected by several things: Much of our wiring needed to be upgraded, old water pipes were blocked and leaked, a water heater died, and the furnace had to be replaced. Cabinet Pro's people either helped to resolve these issues or referred us to other tradespeople who in every case, were well-qualified, thorough and charged fair prices. In some cases, such as the plumbing, Cabinet Pro's people actually made some of these repairs themselves; in other cases, they worked around them so that the project wasn't seriously delayed. We would use this company again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: We had decided to remodel our kitchen, which had both 60+ year old metal cabinets and ?-year old wooden cabinets faced with plywood. We replaced the flooring, the cabinets, the back splash and countertops, sink, lighting the window above the sink and the back kitchen door. We had no kitchen designer, but relied upon Rob Casden, owner of Cabinet Pro, and his assistant Laura Castle, for design advice. While we were at it, we decided to have an upstairs hall bath renovated, too, and we also asked Cabinet Pro to replace the sink, faucet and countertop in the adjacent powder room. We purchased appliances separately, as well as the kitchen window and door and a new window and shower stall for the bathroom. However, Cabinet Pro's people also gave us referrals for suppliers as well as design advice on these items. Spending total above reflects funds paid directly to Cabinet Pro for the projects described above, but does not include costs for appliances, additional electric, plumbing and work on furnace and water heater.

Remodeling is never pleasant but this was a "problem free" experience. When I stopped at Cabinet Pro I was having a difficult time finding the color I wanted and the owner spent considerable time sorting through samples. Just as I was about to give up he found what I was looking for. His price was reasonable so I signed a contract and waited for the other shoe to drop so to speak. Instead I discovered that contractors can be true to their word. My cabinets came in within a week of the estimated date and I was able to schedule installation within the time frame I had wanted. But what really won my appreciation was the fact that the installer, both personable and professional, took extra care to put up plastic draping to contain the sawdust I was so worried about. He arrived on time each day until the job was complete and made it a point of vacuuming before he left for the evening. The kitchen continues to receive compliments. I hope to remodel the bathbroom next and will be calling them again.

Everything was fine during the design process. When the quote was issued they refused to honor a coupon that we had. They claimed it was all ready deducted but would not show us an itemized quote to prove it. Should have stopped then. The work took several weeks and the workmen never vacuumed up. I had just refinished my wood floors and they damaged them by leaving garbage (screws etc) on the floor which was not properly protected, refused to do anything. I contracted at extra charge for them to haul away debris . Was suppose to have a dumpster but hey left all of the garbage on the garage floor and then told me to take it to the curb. When I insisted they pick up the garbage it took them a week to come out. There was more than a pick up truck to haul away. All of the plumbers work leaked and he started a fire under a vanity which they attempted to cover up. I wanted a warming drawer installed a particular cosmetic way and they simply did it the way they thought would look best.

As the owner of Cabinetpro I feel this review is unfair. The owner is only upset because he feels he is entitled to deduct a coupon on the final payment when the coupon was already applied when the agreement for work was signed. We honor all coupons and have never had a customer try to use it twice. As to the work, we only dealt with his wife who is very happy with the work we did and has personally given us referrals. Please read between the lines and you will notice nothing is mentioned about the quality of our work which is excellent. I suggest you call his wife if you are hesitant about using our services.

We were impressed with Linda who came out look at the project. We received an estimate for refacing the vanities and installing new countertop over the phone. We were ready to hire Cabinet Pro and asked for a written quote. It was higher. We had assumed the the install was included in the phone quote. Because of this miscommunication, we hesitated. We checked Angie's List again and the Better Business Bureau and decided not to take a chance.

DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY WAS SOMEWHAT OF A NIGHTMARE. IT TOOK THREE ATTEMPTS TO GET THE GRANITE RIGHT. THEY DID NOT ALWAYS SHOW UP WHEN PROMISED AND I FELT THAT THEIR CHARGES FOR EXTRA WORK WERE UNREASONABLE. SOME OF THEIR EMPLOYEES ALSO CAME ACROSS AS HOSTILE WHEN I HAD QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORK. THEY ALSO DO NOT SEEM TO HIRE WORKERS WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING OR WHO TAKE PROFESSIONAL PRIDE IN THEIR WORK.
