A rep showed up promptly and took a look at both attics. Provided my wife and I an estimate. We made an appointment within a few days and had the attic work completed. No mess...no fuss

They responded immediately to my phone call. Provided a free estimate. Owen also interacted with my 3 year old son, letting him help measure the room. It was a nice gesture. Their price was better than other insulation companies. Owen has the experience, it becomes evident when you talk about mold and insulation. Owen accomodated my construction schedule. Very positive experience.

With one simple call I was easily able to schedule an appointment for an estimate. Owen was prompt, courteous and professional. He inspected the areas where the work was to be performed making suggestions and answering all questions. Within a couple of days we received a detailed estimate via email which we accepted and called to schedule a work date convenient for us. They arrived promptly at 8:00am as scheduled and got right to work. They even helped remove some old attic junk that I was unable to reach myself. During the job our electrical power went out (unrelated to the work being done) and Owen tried his best to help with the problem but the work required an electrician to work on a faulty electric box. While we waited for the electrician the two-man crew finished with the attic and the walls and cleaned up nicely. He reduced the charge slightly because one of the smaller walls did not need to be insulated so the final price was actually below his original estimate. Aside from the unexpected power outage it couldn't have gone better and the improvement inside our house is already noticeable.

We haven't gone forward on the work, but he was outstanding. He is very professional and knowledgable. He is kind to you and answer questions that were not part of the original reason you have called him.

Mr. Porter came out today to look at our 3rd floor living space/attic and determine what insulation needs we had. He came in and looked in our crawl space. He explained that our studs are 2x4s and that they would have to be "firred"(?) if we wanted to put fiberglass in the open space of our attic and put up drywall subsequently. He told me that we would lose living space if we did that. He gave me the final answer that he would recommend spray foam insulation and that he was unable to provide that service. He was courteous and provided information that two other estimators did not provide about the space that we have and what will be best for us in the long run. I appreciated Mr. Porter's honesty and straightforward manner.

Our walk in attic and ceilings in our home had practically no insulation and we were always fighting the cold areas in our home. We had many estimates done but when Owen came out, we finally found someone who we felt confident enough to handle the job. Our walk in attic has weird angle and hidden spaces that NONE of the other inspectors found. Ones that we even forgot about. His price was on target with what we were getting from others, but with better products! They came on time, protected the areas they were in, got right to work . So professional and kind and the job was done the same day. We couldnt be more happy with our choice! Do not hesitate to hire them, you will not be disappointed.

The crew was very professional, polite, and completed everything mentioned in the quote without exception. Mr. Porter also made excellent informational recommendations for options for different insulation needs. I appreciated his experience with many years working with insulation when making his recommendations after listening to my needs for the spaces needing insulation. The crew was punctual, spoke English, and were great to work with. I would highly recommend them to my family and friends.

I would definitely recommend American Insulation. I got four quotes. Two were more expensive, and one was the same. I went with American because Rick's proposal made the most sense. I felt like the other quotes from other companies were selling me things that weren't really going to help me (unnecessary amount of attic chutes, changing around my venting, etc). Rick on the other hand was very aware of what I was already aware of - that my attic ventilation was perfectly fine, and that while it was a good idea to put in several chutes, I did not need one at every "run" the way other contractors were suggesting because I have a ridge vent, and gable vents, and airflow is excellent already. When he did the installation he put up a measuring marker so that I can see how many inches were installed. The job was very clean, very fast, and he created a nice 'perimeter' around the attic hatch so that i can still get up into the attic if i need to look at anything without having all the insulation fall into bedroom below.

We called American Insulation based on other Angie's List reviews and a recommendation from a contractor friend. Owen took considerable time to assess the issues and gave a thorough and understandable explanation of what was wrong and the steps needed to correct the problems. Owen and his associate Rick began the work a few days later completing the job in a day and a half. I could not have been more impressed.They simply did an excellent job. We called American Insulation based on other Angie's List reviews. We choose AI, over others, for their price,their family-friendly demeanor and for Owen's candid guidance on what would really help in our house. Owen and his team were superb. I fully trusted them in my home and around my kids-- they are great people and consummate professionals. Owen and his team were honest about what was needed and provided great suggestions for where we could see real benefit from added insulation. The benefit of the added insulation could be felt immediately. Plus, the American Insulation crew was such a pleasure, we were just all-around pleased. We did the work in phases and are having the team come out again for more work very soon.

They are fantastic and did a wonderful job. They were very efficient. They did what they said they were going to do and were in and out with no problems. Their price was very fair. The quality was absolutely the best.

The second floor of my home is dormered on the north side and has attic space on the south side. I was having a horrible time with ice damming on the south side of the house. Unfortunately, this is the location of the entrance to my home. Through the winter, the gangway would be covered with ice that was 3 inches thick or better. There were icicles that were huge. It was a very dangerous area. I called the company (also from Angie's List) that installed my gutters to come over and take a look to see if there was something wrong with the them. I was told that there was nothing wrong with the gutters but I was questioned about the insulation in the attic. It was suggested to me that I have someone come out and check the insulation. I had 3 estimates done. They all pretty much said the same thing. I needed to move the insulation from the slopes and put it on the kneewalls and under the floor boards. I chose American Insulation, not because he was the cheapest, but because I really liked Owen. He was very professional and answered all of my questions about insulation. Owen explained what the problem was in great detail and the best way to fix it. He was here within days of my phone call to the office and we were able to schedule having the work done without me having to take time off from work. Owen arrived on time with his co-worker and they were finished in under 4 hours. They were very careful of my belongings and cleaned up everything before they left. We have had a mild winter this year but when we did have snow there wasn't any ice or icicles in the gangway. As a bonus, the bedrooms in the dormer are warmer. I am a very satisfied customer! I plan on hiring Owen again to insulate the walls of the bedrooms in the dormer.

Owen was awsome. He came to our house when he said (within 2 or 3 days of calling). He supplied a quote for the work. We had some questions on the quote. Owen called back to discuss and clarfiy. After agreeing to the quote they scheduled us for the very next week. Rick and Owen both cam to do the job (right on time) and finished in about an hour. They explained all that they did and cleaned up after. I could not be more impressed with this company!

Owen gave us a complete explanation of what we needed to do to get rid of the mold in the attic, and more importantly he gave us specific details as to what his company would do and what we should do to prevent the problem from reoccuring. All work was completed in a timely fashion, and everyone from the office staff to the installers themeselves were professional and pleasant with which to work. We are completely satisfied.

Owen came out 12 January 2011. The house was extremely cold. After checking walls to see if I had insulation (I did), he asked to see the crawl space. There was no insulation! The home is almost 60 years old and the old insulation had disintegrated. Owne really did a thorough check - temperature readings in other parts of the home and gave me helpful tips on how to prevent air coming through under the doors, etc. I had another company out as well who wanted to spray insulation foam in. I didn't really mind that the cost was over double what Owen had quoted for 3.5 R11 unfaced fiberglass batts, but was uncomfortable with them spraying over everything in an older home. I was also impressed that Owen took the time to explain the process and the helpful hints he provided. I also appreciated that, although I wasn't able to do the project until May, he honored the original quote. The installer was friendly polite and on time and worked by himself in the uncomfortable crawlspace - not an easy task.

Owen came out for the inspection/estimate and was extremely helpful and friendly. He gave me several options and even helped tailor one specifically to what I could afford. They were able to fit me in that week (which was great since the Peoples Gas rebate was ending soon). They blew fill insulation in my attic and down walls as far as they could go from up there. I eventually want to get insulation blown into all my walls but can't afford all of it right now, so they worked out this deal with me to at least cover part of it. The crew was punctual and friendly. It was pouring rain that day but they did a very nice job of not getting water and mud in my house, even while running a hose out the front door to the truck. They were quick and thorough and I've already noticed a big difference in how cool my upstairs stays on sunny days. I was very satisfied with their work and I plan on using them again when I can afford to finish the walls.

We were happy with the company from the start to the finish. Owen was very knowledgeable and through in his evaluation and arranged the work schedule to fit our needs. His employees were excellent in doing the work and in being neat in doing so.We beleve this is the type of company you want doing work for you.

I needed insulation in my attic because I had just installed space paks. Although I had used this company before and was pleased with their work, I solicited other estimates from several other companies because of the cost involved for the two projects. American Insulation, in addition to having an excellent reputation, actually had the lowest estimate so I hired them again. They completed the work timely, were very professional and cleaned up thoroughly when they finished the job. We discussed another project I need done and I will hire them to do this in the fall. This is an excellent company to work with. There was some confusion as to which job was to be completed first, the air conditioning or the insulation and Owen spoke with the person at the AC company and worked everything out beforehand so I did not have to be involved in any of the back and forth phone calls. I highly recommend this company.

Very good Owen came over and spent a lot of time explaining what he was suggesting Gave me an estimate next day (and was several thousand dollars less than the energy audit company, plus he did 20% more work). Yes, I typed that correctly, several thousand dollars less! overall took about 4 hours he supervised most of the work, his workman finished cleaned up and there was no mess

The company returned my call right away; the woman on the phone was extremely apologetic that she wasn't able to send someone out that very day! We made an appointment for about two days later. Owen (I think he's the owner) showed up promptly and gave me a bid immediately upon making the measurements. I thought the price was very reasonable and he made a good impression as someone who was professional and knowledgeable. Two guys showed up a few days later and had the entire job done in about an hour. First they drilled holes in the wall, then pulled in a hose from the truck and blew in the fiberglass, and plugged the holes with plaster. There was hardly any dust or mess. The guys were very polite and careful with my furniture. What was once a drafty, frigid office has now turned into a warm, cozy nook. Who knows if I will even need the rug on the floor next winter? Now that I know it's possible to do one room at a time like this, and that it's so easy, I plan to start insulating one or two rooms a year before I paint them. I am very happy with the service.
