Principal Designer Kerry Briggs is a degreed architectural engineer, and a member of NKBA with over 25-years training and experience in classical residential architecture. Studying how people use space, she creates efficient, tailor-made solutions, uniquely suited for each of her clients.
It's all in the details. When designing kitchens, she needs to know her clients — how they live, if they are right- or left-handed, whether they are short or tall, what they cook, how they prepare food and clean up after cooking.
Kitchens, baths, closets, home offices and entertainment centers deserve well planned storage solutions as she considers how clients access and store their belongings.
Kerry designs cabinetry and built-in furniture constructed from manufacturers' cabinets or by local craftsmen. Scale, proportion, angles and lines are considered for aesthetic appeal and practical construction. She strives to maintain a close working relationship with both client and contractor to achieve great results, giving her clients the design of their dreams.

Description of Work: Kerry worked with me from concepts through multiple design options. She listened to my input but gave me great advice and her expertise. Her contacts and other contractors were top notch! Kitchen and downstairs is fabulous! I have the best kitchen in the neighborhood now! | |We worked a few months through basic high level designs. Then we chose one and detailed all the little pieces including electrical placement. Kerry placed the cabinet order with a custom cabinet maker (very cost effective and suburb quality). She connected me with a general contractor and others to complete the work. For a complete overhaul of the main floor, this went very well and as quick as one would expect. | |The result was just stunning. | |I would have Briggs design help me on any future remodel design work in the future because it was really a good experience!

The Briggs Design part of our extensive kitchen project went extremely well. Kerry Briggs was knowledgable and easy to talk with. She communicated regularly, addressed all our question and concerns, and always followed up. She presented plans, offered options, and made sure the details of products, procedures and pricing were clear. She arranged the crafting and delivery of beautiful custom cabinets by a Downstate Illinois supplier, helped us through some minor glitches with the hardware, and checked on the installation. She also worked well with our general contractor. We're delighted with the results, and we would work with Briggs Design again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: Kerry Briggs worked closely with us on our Arts & Crafts kitchen restoration, handling the layout and design of a new kitchen island and custom cabinets.

The design process included a lot of research from myself - what did my family and I want. Then Kerry and I spent a lot of time interviewing, talking, seeing samples and pictures. Then we measured the existing space and Kerry came up with some general rough concepts, including my wish list. The first phase was all about the concept and "big" space. About 8 overall designs were considered, and then we combined a couple and ended up with the main design. Phase 2 took that design and sketched in all of the cabinets. We worked a couple of months on cabinet designs, more research and thinking by myself about how I worked in the kitchn, and then some reworok on designs to create the final. Phase 3 was putting in the details...trim, electrical, lighting, etc. That wasn't as exciting for me as the homeowner, but Kerry knew what was needed and explained options when they were available. Kerry supported the designs through the contractor bidding process and later through all of the months of buildouts. If changes were needed by cabinet makers or electricians, Kerry took care of it or walked them through it. The attention to small details and her experience made all the difference. The cabinets I have are custom and did not cost not much more than what I would have had from a big-box store - BUT THEY ARE MUCH BETTER QUALITY AND JUST BEAUTIFUL! The cabinets were a recommendation from Briggs of course! I didn't know much about lighting (we lived with one simple overhead for 8 years in the old kitchen), but it's amazing how I use so many pieces of that lighting for different tasks/events. Kerry recommended the lighting and contractor. It can really make a difference and make a space come to life whether it be watching tv, cutting vegetables, cooking at the stove, baking....the right lighting makes a huge difference! Every bit of the work on the design was worth the effort and time. I cannot thank Kerry and Briggs Design enough for their experience, time, customer service, pride in their work, and friendliness. Projects like this can really make it tough on people to go through and having Kerry along the way made this project clear, efficient, and the resutls speak for themselves! People walk in this space and they can't believe that a simple colonial style house has such a beautiful feel, open space, and warmth!
Description of Work: Briggs Design assisted me with 3 design phases of the design portion of a kitchen/great room project and also assistance with working with the contractors throughout the entire project build out. We worked on design for approximately 6 months, and then started the build out which took approximately 5 months. We essentially remodeled the main level of our 2 story colonial. We combiined the old kitchen, dining room and family room into one large space so that our family could have everything we needed for our style of living. Kerry understood our vision, guided us through various design options, and designed the best kitchen and living space that was possible! Kerry was with me from the beginning AND through the implementation phases. She spent time with me as a customer, maximized my dollar, and minimzed the stress of a remodeling project like this. They certainly know kitchens and how families use them! Additionally, Briggs recommended cabinet, lighting, a general contractor, stone, floors, and various other vendors that could assist with our project. Every single recommendation made by Briggs was SPOT ON. I don't think that better contractors and craftman OR friendlier, honest people exist because the ones that were recommended were just that FANTASTIC! The crew brought in by Briggs' recommended general contractor were completely top notch and it was a pleasure to work with every single person who walked into my home. All of these pieces came together, simply thanks to my "designer" - who was much much more to me than just that! If you're doing a kitchen remodel, you need Briggs!
