Roger came out and walked through my list of wants and needs. He is very professional and honest. He worked up a very detailed list of operations and equipment required, got the permits, and filled out the Edison project manager's paperwork in order to coordinate the transition of drops at the pole. He sent out two employees with a Ditchwitch to dig the trench and to hand dig the hole for the underground feed meter box. They worked though a continuous snowfall. They placed the new burial feeders in the trench, along with a run of schedule 40 PVC pipe for my TV and internet service, as I am removing all overhead drops. A day or so later, about 6 electricians came out to transition from the old meter box to the new underground, remove the 1959 vintage 16 place breaker box and install the new one, identify all circuits in the home and create a label for the breaker box door, and install stubs in the house wall for the new garage. They covered the basement steps in canvas, changed from boots to shoes when coming indoors, and wore masks in the house, respecting the guidelines for COVID-19 defense. They were very polite and professional. Everything passed inspection without needing further work; in fact, some existing and/or grandfathered violations were cleared as part of the course of the job, and everything appears neater and more professional than before Tully Electric came on the scene. Code has changed the breaker box inside ground from the nearest water pipe, to the water pipe as it enters the building. Tully also bonded the in pipe and out pipe at the water heater, as well as the gas pipe. The area around the breaker box is now much neater and more straightforward, too. I will ask my garage builder to let me hire Tully Electric for the electrical portion of the build. I couldn't be more satisfied with the performance of Tully Electric. I'm sorry I don't have a "before" picture to demonstrate the night and day improvement. There are 25 equipped circuits in the new load center. These were all doubled up in the old 16 circuit load center and side car.
Description of Work: Wanted to upgrade to 200AMP service, and go from an overhead to a buried drop. I am having a new garage constructed and also wanted to have extra capacity for the garage.

We could not be more pleased with the services provided by Tully Electric. I contacted them for an estimate on installing a new 200 amp Load Center and a Whole House Backup Generator. Roger Tully, the owner, contacted me promptly and we scheduled an appointment. After speaking to him and receiving his detailed estimate, I knew I had found the right company to perform the work. The products they use are of high quality as is their impeccable work. Their skilled Electricians did an outstanding job and all work was done up to the Electrical code if not beyond. Roger is a great guy to work with as are his team of professionals.

Roger and his crew were professional and easy to deal with. Roger did a great job of explaining what was needed in plain speak and was always willing to explain further so that I knew what I was paying for. He is a very detail and quality oriented professional who approached our complicated job of dealing with existing wiring with a positive attitude (when many others did not) rather than complaining about how much work it was going to be, how expensive it would be or trying to suggest improper workarounds to take shortcuts. As a female, I appreciate tradespeople who treat me with respect and who I feel comfortable having in my home. Roger and his team passed with flying colors. We had some minor issues with the work that were corrected right away! I always expect something with permitted work so I cannot fault them. I know from discussions they work hard to get things right. Additionally, I had to add more work based on code and they were very accommodating in working it into their schedule. I would call them back for any future needs we have without hesitation.

I called Tully Electric after hours when a spark flew out of an outlet; Roger answered and was great/reassuring to speak with and let me know that someone would call me at ~7:30 the next morning with an appointment time. Josh called promptly at 7:30 and was able to come within two hours. He quickly diagnosed and fixed my faulty outlet well as helpfully explained the issues to me. I was extremely pleased with Tully Electric's responsiveness, quality of work, and professionalism and highly recommend them.

Roger Tully, the owner, came out for the bid. They were not the lowest cost, but we felt really comfortable that he knew what he was doing. One of the things we need to have done was to install a GFI outlet into one of the bathrooms. He was willing to install it without changing how the light switches work which involved additional work such as going through ceramic tiles to install the wiring. Other companies did not want to do this work. The job took a large amount of the day. The other reason we chose them for the job is because they do the drywall repair as well. They were the only one of the three bidders that will do the drywall repair work as well. They did an outstanding job with the work! We were so impressed with them.
Description of Work: We were getting ready to put my father’s home on the market and he needed a new electrical panel installed. The original panel was from the 1950’s and it had needed to be replaced. They also had to do other electrical jobs around the house in order to bring everything up to code.

Roger Tully and his whole team are so enthusiastic and professional. We had to upgrade our service from 60 amps to 100, the main issue of many regarding getting the foreclosed home up to code. Any issues we might have had with the village inspector were addressed by Roger with the inspector before work even began. I felt terrible for the three workers who worked uncomplainingly on the hottest day of the year and I had to practically force them to accept the sports drinks I bought for them. They were incredibly professional in every way and extremely conscientious about not littering, even field-stripping their cigarettes and tossing the butts in the back of their own vehicle. When the village inspector saw that Tully had been our contractor, he said he didn't even need to inspect the rest of the electrical repairs (but of course did as a formality) because of Tully's fantastic local reputation. We could have chosen an electrician with lower prices, but the peace of mind we have knowing that our house is safe because the work was done unquestionably well is a decision I'm glad we made. I can't wait to have Tully Electric out for our next project and continued maintenance!
Description of Work: Upgraded electrical service including new panel, replaced 2-prong outlets with grounded 3-prong outlets, installed independent circuit and outlet for A/C unit, inspected whole-house fan and single-pole double-throw switch.

I could not be happier with the work performed by Tully Electric. Roger, the owner, came out right away and we discussed what I need to be done. I wasn't entirely sure what was needed, Roger explained what and why he recommended going the route we ended up going. I needed to separate the electrical feed on my oven and microwave that would always trip the circuit if both were used at the same time. I also wanted to add some lights in my garage so that I could light my woodworking shop. The bad part for me was that I didn't have any open slots on my circuit panel so I needed a larger panel as well. We agreed on a price and I waited for the electricians to become available, a two week wait. I do not mind waiting, think about it, it someone can come over at any time they must not be that busy, and perhaps there is a reason they?re not that busy. Good quality servicers are generally busier than the bad ones. I was not at home when the work was performed so this information came to me from my Wife who was present. The electricians were on time and friendly, they worked hard and were professional at all times. They did a good job and cleaned up their mess when they were done. Based on my review of the work, it worked just like I expected and the quality of the workmanship was outstanding. My only regret was not adding a wall outlet by my garage door, I mentioned this to Roger and he had his guys put one in on the house! From the initial consultation to the delivery of the typed panel circuit reference chart, everything was done on time and as expected or more. I would recommend without hesitation.

Email sent to request quote was answered by a call from Roger within five minutes. He came to the house that afternoon to see what we wanted down. The estimate was received the next afternoon and the work was done two days later. Roger came with the two electricians to introduce them and they were both very professional and friendly. In addition to installing the can lights, they took down our pot hanger and smoke detector and patched the holes in the ceiling. They cleaned everything up before leaving and the lights work beautifully. Will use them again.

This company seems very 're-assuring' that they will take care of the problem, but they are not professional at all. First time I called, I was told that they will take care of the problem. I was given the home office phone number to leave my address and phone number, but no body called me back. This company was called another 2-3 times afterwards. Once, they said that they would get back to us, but no one did. Left voicemails twice, but still no one bothered to return the call. Don't waste time dealing with them, and chose others instead. I am sure someone would respond to this review, apologizing with a response like the size of an essay. We, the customers, simply want timely service, courtesy, and professionalism. You lack all of them.

(Member name removed), I can understand your frustration, however you are not being completely forthright with your story. I remember speaking with you personally regarding the probelem with your rental property, and offering troubleshooting tips over the phone. Over a week later, you called back to say that your tenant was still having trouble with the breaker, and gave us her contact info. We called and left a message and received a return call soon afterwards. Your tenant was offered her choice of appointments from 7:30 AM- 4:30 PM M-F and 8AM- 12PM Saturday in order for us to repair the issue. Your tenant said that nobody in the household was available at those times and we would need to schedule for Saturday afternoon or for a weekday evening. We informed her that we did not schedule non-emergency repairs after-hours without overtime charges, and that she could make arrangements with you or a family member to meet us at the house. We did not refuse service, nor did we fail to call. You even called us back to say that you had made other arrangements and not to call back. At no time did you call to authorize overtime charges or offer to meet us during our normal hours. We thought that we were acting in your best interest as the property owner, sorry that you do not agree.

We are in the process of installing a Kohler RES20 whole-home generator. The general contractor and the electrical contractor called me to say that it could only power 16 circuits in our home, and we'd have to pick what not to power. That was different than what I remember hearing a few months ago when we were researching generators. But not being an electrician, or particularly mechanically inclined, I needed to do more research. So I went on Kohler's website and looked up local authorized Kohler installers. The first company I called just wasn't helpful. Then I called Tully Electric and talked with Roger. He was awesome. He listened to my issues, asked me some questions about our home, then explained how the generator should be installed, despite the fact he wasn't earning a penny from the advice. I then called my general contractor and relayed the information, passing along Roger's contact information. The two of them talked, and my general contractor was so impressed that he's planning to use Roger for other residential jobs (his current electrical sub does mostly commercial work). We will definitely use Roger to service our generator, and for any future electrical needs. Thanks for your help Roger!
Description of Work: Roger saved the day for us, and he wasn't even our contractor.

Since he never bothered to contact us, we cannot comment on this guy's ability. However, our experience speaks directly to his professionalism, or total lack thereof.
Description of Work: Well, we really struck out with this guy. He came to our home to look at the projects that we had. He said he would work up an estimate and call my wife back within a week. He also took some special bulbs that burned out in our cabinets to buy the correct ones. Two weeks later, we called him and he did not return our call. One month later, we called and he picked up the phone, apologized, and said he would e-mail us the estimate the next day. We are now two months later, the guy did not call, did not e-mail, and did not return the special bulbs that he took from our house to replace. A reliable plumber that we have used in the past recommended this guy. When he heard our story, he said he would call him and promised us we would hear from him. This was about a month ago. Nothing from Roger Tully. We have since heard he picked up some type of commercial job so that is the reason he does not have the decency to call, e-mail, or return the items he removed from our house.

Response from Tully Electric Inc
Hi Member, Although you and I have never spoken or met, I sincerely apologize for the miscommunication/ lack of communication regarding your project. I had a great meeting with your wife back in January regarding the lighting of a huge three-paneled artwork in your family room, as well as a few smaller projects. Your wife and I last spoke on January 27 or 28- can’t remember exactly, as we were in Florida for a surprise birthday trip for my wife at the time. I agree that it was about two weeks after our initial meeting. I brought my laptop and Wi-Fi hotspot on the trip, and was able to work remotely on our office computer to send the estimate within a day or two of the call. Your assumption is correct; that we are extremely busy, both with residential and commercial projects. However, of all of the work we do, we enjoy lighting the most, and your custom lighting project provided the kind of variety and challenge which all of us at the company really like, and I was excited for the opportunity. I have re-sent the estimate to your wife, this time without the attachments which showed the wall-wash trims, dimmer cut sheet, and bath fan. The estimate for your mother-in-law's bath fan is still included on the same page, as requested (by Marjory). I may fairly or unfairly presume that the attachments caused our estimate to go directly to your spam folder, yet the email was not returned as undeliverable. This could have been easily simplified with a quick follow-up call, which regrettably, I did not make. Our return from Florida found us with a mailbox full of signed contracts, and provided an immediate challenge. I am a bit puzzled by the timeline of events, having had no contact since speaking with your wife in late January. Our receptionist converts every phone call to an email and sends it to two of us at the company so that we may respond and/or import leads directly to our daily schedule. I am not claiming that your wife didn’t call, but I have no internal record of any contact since late January, and even when overly busy I can usually remember speaking with someone. With such a full work load, we don’t typically get discouraged when we do not sell every job, and one of many things learned since we first hung our shingle in 1989, is that it is just human nature for some potential customers to simply not reply at all if they do not like a price, or our approach to their projects, even though we specifically ask them to acknowledge receipt of our estimates via phone or email. To wit: I wish that you would have called me personally instead of waiting two months and asking your plumber what was up. I was going about my daily business with no idea that your frustration was building over the weeks, and until this review posted did not even know what your first name was. Unfortunately, I did not get a call from your plumber asking about the job or I would have been encouraged by the possibility of a sale and would have taken action long before receiving this unflattering review on Angie’s List. We have experienced significant growth during difficult economic times, and I am driven enough to strive for all A’s in everything we do, so be assured that your review has caused me to look inward for improvement. I do wish that we would have had the opportunity to speak first. I freely admit 51 percent of the blame, yet suggest that we both could have handled this differently. I still have the T3.25 wedge base lamp and a bi-pin lamp for your cabinets sitting at our shop; one of them only worked when tapped on during my visit, and your wife mentioned that it was problematic. I did not think that removing it would affect your ability to match the others for replacement, and if you still feel the need to have it returned, please let me know. Otherwise, I am able to get you Xenon replacements for all, which should provide better long-term results than the high temperature, high pressure Halogen lamps If you have sourced the work elsewhere and have the job completed, I hope that it met with your expectations. If not, we would like another chance at it. Our schedule is already full through the first week of May, but I am sure that we could find a way to get it done sooner in light of the situation, and as an opportunity for you to see why we have won a Super Service Award for our first two years as Angie's List Members. In any case, I am very grateful that you took the time to write about your experience; it is an excellent reminder to stay diligent, customer-focused, and to never make assumptions. Best Regards, Roger Tully Tully Electric Inc

I emailed Roger and he almost instaneously emailed back. I called him, told him what I had, what the room did NOT have, which was electricity in the ceiling. Three days later he and his helper Chris were here installing the fan. Nicest guys in the world, did a GREAT job and very efficiently, too. Without doubt I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and plan on using him for all my electrical needs in the future.

The sheetrock ceiling in my garage imploded & took out a ceiling light fixture & my garage door opener. It was after 5 pm on a Friday & I sent Roger Tully an email inquiring about asap service. Within an hour he'd answered my inquiry & came out to fix the damaged electrical connections. Roger was a very pleasant & professional contractor. He fixed the light & connections, brought the ancient items up to code, then went above & beyond by taking down the rest of the ceiling, scoring the sheetrock into smaller pieces, & cutting the exposed aluminum supports (now trailing down to the floor) into manageable lengths. He checked to be sure everything worked before leaving. I would absolutely have Mr. Tully back again for future electrical work!

I wanted to replace an existing 1970's light fixture in my dining room of my 1920's home with an antique fixture I found in a resale shop. I found Tully on Angie's List and got a quote for the work along with 2 other estimates. I went with them because of their professional response and their ability to meet my timing requirements. The expertise of this contractor in working with older homes and fixtures helped get make this a quick and well-done installation. They also suggested installing a dimmer, which turned out to be a great idea that I'm glad I accepted. I would definitely use them again.

I am a 68-year old professional woman who does a lot of minor repairs around my home, but when it comes to electrical problems, I always call the professionals. I had two bedroom outlets that died and needed someone to find out why they simply "died" out of the blue. I also had a ground fault circuit that would pop everytime it rained or got damp outside. I called Roger and within one day he answered my phone call (or e-mail) and made an appointment to come to my home to give me an estimate. While there, he actually searched the wiring in my bedroom (opening up three outlets in one room and removing a light fixture in another) to find out what was wrong. He determined that one of the wires in one of the outlets was loose or actually missing and traced the major problem to an outlet that was overheating and actually burned. He also found that when my house was built some 23 years ago, the electricians did not take the time to properly connect the outlet wiring and many of the wires were loose. After correcting that problem, I told him about the ground fault problem and he checked my circuit box, found some rust; checked the exterior outlets and other ground fault outlets in the house and informed me that they were not up to code. None of the outlets in the bathrooms or kitchen were resettable. Every time the circuit tripped, I had to go out to the garage to reset the breaker. We discussed the options, and I agreed to have all the outlets in the kitchen, bathrooms, and exterior replaced with new, resettable outlets and have the circuit breaker in the garage replaced with two separate ground fault circiut breakers. He also offered to tighten the screws on my threee outside fixtures because they were not properly installed when I had the siding replaced last year. Roger had to order some items so he left and within a day sent me an estimate for the additonal work. I agreed to have the work done, and within another two days, Roger arrived with all the necessary equipment and completed all the work within four hours. He was thorough, neat, and meticulous. We were unable to correct the outside fixtures because I did not have replacement siding and the fixtures had been mounted off center and had to me moved, requiring replacing some of the siding. Roger said that he would be happy to come back and fix the lights if I could get some of the replacement siding. I cannot recommend Tully Electric enough. Roger was very professional, very meticulous, and throrough. When making recommendations, he gave me honest suggestions and options. I highly recommend Tully Electric for any work you might need done.
Description of Work: Was having problems with ground fault circuit and overloaded electrical wiring within bedroom walls. House is over 20 years old and not up to code on ground fault circuits. Roger Tully came in checked wall outlets to determine where problem was occurying and replaced damaged outlet. Replaced five kitchen outlets and two bathroom outlets with ground fault breakers. Also made one of these outlets a four-plug outlet. Replaced two exterior ground fault outlets. Replaced damaged ground fault circuit with two separate ground fault breakers. Attempted to properly reinstall three outside light fixtures that had been installed incorrectly when siding was replaced last year.

The work was very well done. Roger came out and worked out a design with me and he was right on the money with his suggestions. I was out of town during the installation and I came back to the remodel and no cleanup which was wonderful. I completely trusted leaving him and his crew alone in my house for the week. You can tell he loves what he's doing and he does it well. Highly recommend and will definitely use Tully Electrical again.
Description of Work: Roger installed 8 recessed lights-2 of which were LED, a kitchen light fixture, 2 new outlets, expanded a wall switch and added a dimmer switch. He also patched all ceiling holes and completely cleaned up the area.

Having a whole-house generator installed had been on our to-do list for quite some time but it was way down on the list. But after our neighborhood suffered through many, many power failures this summer (including 4 in one day) we moved this project to the top of the list. We spoke with and got bids from seven different electrical contractors. Anytime you talk with that many people you're bound to get a lot of differing opinions and cost estimates. One contractor gave us some information regarding what our city would and would not permit...all of which turned out to be false...in what we believe was an attempt to have work done without pulling a permit. I'm always suspicious when a contractor angles to have work done without a permit. After several weeks we were about to award the contract when we happened to see a Tully Electric sign on the lawn of a house in a different part of town. We called, spoke with Roger Tully and arranged to have him come over for an estimate and after speaking with Roger we both felt that he was the one to do the job. Our home required a bit of 'out-of-the-box' thinking due to the way it was built and the location of the gas and electric utilities. Roger demonstrated to us that he was an 'out-of-the-box' thinker. His estimate was not the lowest but neither was it the highest but he was the contractor we felt at ease with. Roger and his crew, Chris and Dave, showed up on time, were respectful of our home and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. They were all thorough and extremely detail oriented. I especially appreciated that since I tend to be that way as well. As I expected they ran into a few unusual problems (we bought the house from a fellow that erroneously fancied himself as a 'Bob Vila' clone) but with one exception all were solved with a bit of ingenuity. The one exception would have required major 'surgery' to the wall and ceiling so we opted not to pursue it. I can heartily, enthusiastically and without reservation recommend Tully Electric. You will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: We had a 14KW Koehler whole-house standby generator installed, upgrades to the electrical service and additional outlets installed inside the house.

I previously used TMR Electric's service in the remodeling of a basement and as then the service provided by TMR was excellent. Communication was timely. The work was accurate, neat and as promised.

Fantastic! Called Tully earlier in the week and Roger was out at my home on Saturday morning. He is personable, takes the time to explain findings and extremely professional. After scoping out the situation, Roger detected several contributing factors to the situation and he proceeded to address them one by one. After two hours, he had replace three broken outlets, check various others, without being asked, inspected and tightened wires in my breaker box and most importantly found a potential fire hazard in my clothes closet. Roger quietly and expertly fixed this danger without once snickering about my cramped closet! He went over and beyond to address key areas and I am grateful for his expertise. Will I call them again? In a heartbeat.
Description of Work: I was experiencing intermittent problems with several electrical outlets in my home which led me to be suspicious about the source/origin of the problem.
