Reliable is so horrible they put in a new A/C unit for us that the insurance company HWA made us use. The put the unit together wrong. How do you put the wrong adapter for the coolant in the ac unit. I have been calling for weeks they will not answer any of there phones. Service manager or there main number. Please do not use this company you will regret it
Description of Work: A/C replaced with correct orifice for the freon. Another company had to come fix there mistakes.

The technicians name is Allan. I feel that he did not do anything for the money. He lied to me and it was a horrible experience. I found another service provider who solved the problem.
Description of Work: I used Reliable Mechanical Services. I used them for a summer and then I ended up firing because he never finished any job that he started. He worked on my central for three times and all he did was just keep checking the Freon. He ended up throwing the Freon and he took the Freon out of it. He did not check the A-Coil which actually needed to be cleaned. So it kept on melting wires and the cooler got so hot because it was not really cooling anything because all he did was check and change the Freon. He charged me $60 every time he comes and the last time he said he will come back but he never did.

I have to preface this with the fact that this was an insurance company that hired the repair company. I did not. The technician who came to my apartment did just enough work to get the AC running long enough for him to leave. He didn't do any troubleshooting or testing to see what was causing the fuses to blow. Two hours later it broke again. So I called him back. He didn't return for a week, then he did the same thing, just replaced the fuses and left. This time saying that he needed to get some tools. He didn't come back for weeks again. By this time I was so frustrated that I went out and bought a portable AC unit (Hence the cost listed above). I couldn't do anything else because I live in an apartment and the landlord has a contract with the insurance company. The technician continued his stall tactics for a total of two months (Mid September, it had been out since July 2nd) when the insurance company decided to hire a different company. Who fixed the AC unit in 2 hours.
Description of Work: Was supposed to repair my AC unit. All he did was replace the fuses which had blown.

I finally told AHS that if they did not contact another company I would be cancelling my Home Warranty with them. AHS is great because high ticket items only cost you $70.00. However, be prepared to wait FOREVER to get something fixed because they use Reliable Mechancial Services. 5 days later and I still do not have air and it's 95 degrees out. Beware of this company!!
Description of Work: I have AHS and they sent my service ticket to this company. My AC quit on Thursday, 8/28/2014. At this time no one has called me and when I can them no one answers or returns my or AHS messages. Only reason I'm still waiting is because I have AHS.

Our home warranty company contracted Reliable Mechanical Services when our AC went in the middle of a heat wave. The AC went out on a Friday. We tried contacting RMS several times, both directly and through the warranty co, but without any response. The warranty co finally reached RMS on Tuesday afternoon (4 days later), and we set an appointment for the following day. On Wednesday (our first appointment), he spent 10 minutes looking at the AC and said we needed a new AC. I'll come back to this but in the end, we believe the AC unit wasn't even the issue... Anyways, he says he'll come back Friday to replace AC and leaves. We call Friday to confirm that he's coming, and he says he's waiting on the warranty co. The warranty co says he's cleared to go. Friday comes and go, and a week later of 100+ heat index days, we still don't have AC. We call Saturday and no luck again. Over the next several days, we attempt to call him and reach him through the warranty co and get nothing. The warranty co finally reaches him on Tuesday afternoon, almost a week after our original appointment. He finally comes back on Wednesday to replace the AC unit. After he replaces the AC unit, he starts it up, and it's still not working. He finally looks in the furnace and a board had shorted, which we believe was the original problem, but because he spent 10 minutes on our first service call, he missed it. Lucky for us, now we have a new AC but I would never recommend this guy to anyone. He doesn't answer his phone. He won't return your messages. When he sets an appointment, he either fails to show up or comes at the wrong time. We wasted 4 days of vacation between the 2 of us waiting for him... Last but not least, when you finally do get him to show up, he rushes through the work and only time will tell if he actually did a quality job for us. If we didn't have our hands tied by the warranty co, we would've never gone with this guy.

I contacted the company through American Home Shield because my air conditioner was not maintaining 72 degrees in my house even when the outside temperature was only 77 degrees. The company came out about a week after the call and said that they would need to order parts. The tech replaced the outside condenser motor even though the motor seemed like it was working fine, but he thought that "it was bulging so it is going bad." I said ok, that I was no H/VAC expert and was fine with that. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem and this is where the real problem started. RMS became extremely unresponsive to my calls and even the warranty company's calls. Eventually, the tech came back out after over two months(!) of phone tag and waiting. The tech then said that there was nothing wrong with the air conditioner and that I was "expecting it do to things it was not designed to do." The air conditioner is not undersized and I would expect even an undersized unit could cool 5 degrees differential. After the tech came out the final time, he changed a setting so that the outside condenser unit never shuts off even when the system is "off" on the thermostat! Thanks for the power bills! Naturally, I called the warranty company and asked that the contract be transferred to a competent company that knows what they are doing.
