Redbird Plumbing

Redbird Plumbing installed the wrong type of battery on my sump pump back-up system. The alarm continued to sound every 24 hours. After multiple visits, Chris could not diagnose the problem. I had to call another plumbing company who diagnosed the problem and installed the correct battery for my system, hence silencing the alarm. Chris refuses to provide a refund and has refused multiple requests for a refund, including one sent by certified mail. I reported him to the Town of Normal, and when they investigated, he told them he had tried to "settle up" with me which is a lie (see above). I filed a complaint with both the Better Business Bureau and the Illinois Attorney General, and he refuses to admit responsibility for his error.

I was not impressed with this company. The faucet that was leaking simply needed fixed, (it was a fairly new, expensive type of faucet) but conveniently ended up broken while the plumbers were here. Subsequently, I was forced to have to replace the faucet and now have a cheap brand that I am not satisfied with. Additionally throughout the process and while they were in my home, there was a lot of whispering. This little job took over 2.5 hours--much more time than it should have taken from my previous experiences. The demeanor they put off was uncomfortable and definitely not reassuring. I don't feel that this company is trustworthy. I feel that I was overcharged and taken advantage of. When I called to talk to the owner about these issues, I was told that I was wrong and that I didn't know what I was talking about. I would advise staying away.

I was very pleased with the service. They did everything I asked and answered my questions.

Terrible experience. One of the worst that I have probably ever had with any company. Very unprofessional, did not stand up for their word, nor even treated me with respect.

Called and left message Monday morning explaining the toilet tank had a slight leak and that it was NOT an emergency. Chris called me back the next morning and a repairman was there by 10am. He'd called as he was fininshing his current job to let me know he would soon be on his way to my home. The repair went smoothly (needed new fill valve and supply line) -- was done quickly and professionally!

Great. They were in and out, very thorough and professional. Did what I asked them to do to repair the problem that someone else left.

EXCELLENT, REPLACED OLD SHUT OFF VALVE. .INSTALLED A FLEXIBLE BRAIDED HOSE AND THE LINE NOW MEETS LOCAL BUILDING CODE.

Very disappointed! I think their previous reviews have made them so busy that they cannot conduct their work up to that level anymore! Made an appointment with Chris to get an estimate. He called to say he was running a little late. He never showed up. He also ignored our calls after that. Rather use another company and show them professionalism matters. Very Disappointed!

I want to start by saying that I joined Angie's List because of a past experience with a plumbing company in Bloomington and it was not with Redbird Plumbing. The past experience was a Disastrous & Ridiculous Plumbing experience. I did not provide a review of that Disastrous & Ridiculous Plumbing company but they have several very poor reviews and my experience was similar. If a plumber shows up at your house driving a Mercedes work van, you might have hired the wrong company. Redbird Plumbing was very quick to return my call and scheduled service the same day. He answered all my questions and explained everything he was doing. He was professional and I had a good experience. He also stated why he used the brand he did and I think he will stand by his word. He probably could have talked me into an expensive backup system but he was very honest about my situation and felt it was not needed. Redbird Plumbing was a refreshing experience. He talks to you and not down to you. He will be the first person I call for plumbing issues in the future.

First, I chose Redbird Plumbing because on two earlier occasions they had done fine work for me. They replaced a worn out water heater and unclogged a backed up toilet. Cost was reasonable. However, I asked them for an estimate to remodel my bathroom. They assured me this could be done reasonably and quickly. I had to call three times before they actually came out to look at the bathroom. I was told I would have an estimate on the plumbing portion within a few days. However, they also needed to send out their carpenter to get his estimate on the flooring and wall work. Here again, the carpenter didn't show up. I called twice. Finally he came out. He also said I would have an estimate within a few days. Didn't happen. I called Redbird and left two voice mail messages asking about the estimates. Nothing. Finally, after two months I said forget it. Now, several months later I still think about how arrogant and inconsiderate Redbird Plumbing was and is. If they didn't want to do the job or couldn't do the job, the decent and polite thing to do would have been to call me and tell.

Disappointed. I have used Red Bird in the past and have always been pleased with the prompt service and quality of work. I am a repeat customer but no more. Never got a call back for work I needed.

Found that toilet paper was clogging the jets, probably due to child stuffing toilet paper through the tank. Cleared the jets, and went ahead and replaced some of the tank hardware that was beginning to show its age.

Great experience. Called in the morning, discussed the problem, Chris listened and gave feedback, made suggestions. Scheduled an afternoon (same day) appt, and the guys called to arrange to come by even earlier. Prompt, professional, listened, did a good job repairing, and very reasonably priced. I was especially impressed by the turn-around time. Thanks. Will definitely use again, and recommend.

Chris at Redbird Plumbing was highly recommended by another professional and also here on Angie's List. After speaking with Chris he came to my home to provide a bid for a large plumbing project for a house that I was purchasing. He was very pleasant, personable and professional. He stated that he would provide me a line by line estimate for his work, and that he would be working on it the very next day and would contact me. I called him two days later and he stated that he was not finished with his bid. Two more days later I called him and he stated that he was almost done with the bid and asked for my email address and that he would call me within 30 minutes. Two days later while at a gas station we ran into each other and he stated that the email was returned to him and that he would resend it later that day..... Two days later he did not answer my call nor did he call me back. Since he first looked at the house he NEVER initiated communication with me. So this morning after not answering my call I called another Plumber to look at my house. They arrived within two hours and provided me a bid within three more hours. So therefore I graded Redbird Plumbing an "F" due to failure of Responsiveness, Punctuality and Professional. I posted the above comments last night. I would like to post additional comments from today Feb 10, 2015. This morning after posting my review Chris from Redbird Plumbing called because he was not happy with my review and continued to make excuses. He also stated that the plumber that responded and gave me a bid so quickly must have been a rookie! Actually the plumber I contacted has 29 years experience. I find it odd that Chris responded so quickly to my review, yet did not respond prior and follow up on a timely basis. As I was trying to explain my thoughts he hung up the phone. I would like to post two more updates: 1) In regard to Chris's response: This house is a older repossessed Fannie Mae home that I AM closing on. I needed a professional opinion and estimate. Yes, there were no plans or prints, nor did Chris request any or show any hesitation what so ever. Since the whole plumbing system needed to be brought to current codes I inquired as to what needed to be done and what could be changed. Yes, I had two others giving me a bid for other items. But it did not take anything away from Chris. And I focused most attention to Chris. I requested an estimate with some possible options but I never requested a detailed bid. Chris is the one that offered a line by line detailed bid. I do not think that Chris sent an email for additional specifications. Emails are bounced back quickly so he could have corrected it or called me for clarification had that been the case. If Chris would like to forward me the bounce back notification I will gladly correct this statement. In his response he states that he is not interested in this project. Chris NEVER stated this to me in any way. In my follow up phone conversation he always stated that once he sent me the bid that he would ready to go. 2.) This morning Wednesday, Feb 11 2015 I noticed a missed call from Chris. I returned his call and he stated that he was not referring to the other contractor as a "rookie" but he was referring to ME as a "rookie". He then went on to state that I was "ignorant and an idiot" and that he was "glad that he would not be doing the work on my home". I stated that he came recommended and I was sorry that he would felt that way because I heard that he does great work. He re emphasized that I was "ignorant and an idiot". I told him thank you and that I would be updating my review to including his comments. He then said Good Luck on my project and our conversation ended.

I am so happy with Redbird Plumbing! It took two visits to take care of my problem, but when I called back and said that one of my problems wasn't 100% taken care of on the first visit (it reappeared after a few hours), they scheduled a new visit very quickly and resolved the issue with no new service charge, and took care of a couple of minor problems for me for free. They stand by their work! Both times it was a pair of very nice and very professional guys, and I would absolutely use them again. The prices seem very reasonable, and they were able to give me some good advice on some other things I'd like to change in the future.

The team that came was on time, efficient, cordial, and no nonsense. I thought my slow water flow would take major plumbing surgery, and they said they could fix it right then...and they did. We also spoke about adding a utility sink in the basement by the washer. I had an estimate last year that was crazy - over $800. I asked our of curiosity, and they are going to install and run a water line for a fraction of the previous estimate. I am a fan of Redbird; used them in the past, and now, I'm a dedicated customer.

The service technicians showed up on time, were very friendly, and explained what the problems were and the options to fixing them. I liked that they didn't try to pressure me into something I didn't need, but simply suggested solutions and even made possible upgrade ideas for sometime in the future. Very happy with the whole experience.

Two folks showed up on time. Put shoe coverings on to not track into the house. Friendly and polite. Knew what they were doing. Suggested a few other things while they were here. Did great worked, gave me great explanations/instructions, cleaned up after themselves. I am only sorry I didn't have more for them to do. They've done other work for me - and they are my plumber of choice. Outstanding folks.

Chris was very responsive to inquiries about the services offered and the prices involved. He was able to schedule a service visit within a couple days, more due to my availability than theirs. They were early as they wrapped up the previous job quickly, and called to see if they could start an hour earlier than scheduled. We were able to accommodate their request. They were very prompt, clean (putting on shoe coverings to ensure no tracks left behind), and accomplished the task efficiently. They removed the old toilet (very helpful as it was an old, heavy one!) and set the new one up to standards. The area they worked was clean after they left. I would definitely recommend Redbird Plumbing.

They were profession, curtious, and explained what they needed to do. They were on time and worked fast. They are great!

My water heater wasn't working first thing this morning (leaked and didn't heat -- but was 22 years old!) so I checked Angie's List and found the deals offered by Redbird Plumbing. I left a message and Chris called me back when the business opened for the day. I decided to go with another 40 gallon heater and we set up an appointment for 1pm today. About 1:10p Chis called to let me know his current job was running long and it would be about another 30 minutes -- I told him it was OK and to take his time. Chis and Phillip arrived and promptly started working. It took less than two hours and they were both very pleasant and professional. Phillip even changed out my washer hoses (that I already had) while Chris was finishing. Chris then explained the water heater features and warranty to me -- plus the cost was less than I expected (deal showed $775 but I was only charged $715 -- plus wasn't charged to change the washer hoses). I would highly recommend Redbird Plumbing!!

Redbird Plumbing did a fantastic job. They modified the existing plumbing so that the 2 hot water heaters were running in a parallel system which increases hot water capacity for the whole house. They were courteous and professional and cleaned up after all of the work. As they were flushing the air out of the water lines, they noticed one faucet had lower water pressure so they fixed the faucet as well as the hot water shut off valve which was clogged, now the faucet is working like new. This was certainly not part of the installation of the hot water heaters, but shows you that Redbird Plumbing goes above and beyond to exceed the customers expectations. Pricing was best in town!!!

Showed up on time and ready to work. Chris was very knowledgeable and had figured out the problem even before he moved the fridge. Their service was very quick and he offered a 50% discount on the service call which sealed my loyalty to this plumbing service. Professionalism + good prices = return customers

We came home from vacation to discover no hot water. Checked the water heater and saw it was leaking. I contacted the provider through Angie's list after hours and he promptly returned my call the next morning. He gave me a choice of service times and he had a team at my home by 9:00 am. The whole experience was professional, punctual, and painless. I will use this company for all of my plumbing needs in the future.
