I can?t say enough about the great work and service I received. I am so happy with my new bathroom! I had quotes from 3 other contractors. I know that they say you shouldn?t go with the best price, but Peter from Davinci was the only one that really understood what ?look? I wanted for my bathroom and what I wanted to accomplish. I felt comfortable from the moment Peter walked in (not to mention my dog loved him). The two men sent to do the work were great. Lazaro was a tireless worker, rarely taking a break. John really had an eye for design. If he thought something wasn?t going to look right, he questioned it before proceeding and gave helpful suggestions. He was always right. My project did take longer than expected, but the guys made sure I had a ?working? bathroom within 3 days of the start of the project. A few plumbing issues arose (nothing I hadn?t already expected might happen) which contributed to the longer timeline. None of these problems were caused by Peter or his workers. There was an issue with the bathtub. The supplier sent me the wrong type of bathtub for the installation. Rosie, Peter?s partner, took care of for me. I did not have to call the supplier myself. She took care of it and made sure that I was not charged for the replacement, even though the new tub cost more. It was nice to know someone was looking out for my interests. Any issues I had after the project was complete were taken care of quickly. While at my house, I had DaVinci also do some other work. One project was a crack in my dining room ceiling. Within a few months the crack reappeared. They quickly came out to make the repairs in such a way to ensure that it won?t happen again. We did go slightly over budget due to the plumbing problems, but not much at all. I would not hesitate to recommend DaVinci to anyone. Peter, Rosie, John and Lazaro....THANK YOU!
Description of Work: Complete bathroom renovation; including but not limited to removing a linen closet, installing new tub, toilet, vanity/sink, tile, electrical and plumbing. Repair/replace drain under kitchen sink, install two spigots outside front and rear of house, replace lighting fixture in dining room, repair crack in ceiling in dining room

The guy seemed very likeable and he seemed to know what he was talking about. His quote was a little bit higher than the one that I went with. Overall it was positive.
Description of Work: We got a quote from Davinci to remodel our entire kitchen, refinish the floors and redo the fireplace. It is a townhouse with a kitchen/living/dining room combination.

They really did a nice job. I felt like they were quite punctual and responsive. They were professional and cleaned up well after themselves. We're thinking about calling them for another job. We recommended them to someone else in our building.
Description of Work: They redid a bathroom, including the shower stall. They didn't really change anything all that much, but they did upgrade the toilets and sink. They put in a light fixture in the ceiling. They did the floor as well.

They abandoned the project. They were not present for the final permit sign off. They left me with a significant amount of work to do. There was a huge amount of money left to be paid for work that they had already been paid for. It was abominable. I am going to have to get an attorney. They have not returned my phone call. I don't want them touching my house again! They left a mess for me to clean up. I don't trust them to fix anything more. Several thousands of dollars are going to be required still, to get the place to be what it should be. I have people still coming in to fix what they didn't finish before. Every time I turn around I find something else that they did that was un-acceptible. There were some bathroom tiles that were installed and immediately cracked. They replaced them and ruined my carpet while doing so. I have no business interest with them. They did some work for a close friend of mine. They got through that project with only a few small issues. I thought that I could deal with them. The wheels just fell off! I don't know what happened! They went through several project managers. They should not be hired. They don't do what they say they will do, and they were very pushy with collecting the money. They owe me work still, and I wish I hadn't give them quite so much money.
Description of Work: I hired Davinci Construction & Design to do a major re-model for me.

From the first meeting with Peter, he explained everything in great detail. He listened to our wants and needs and was honest of what the whole remodeling process would be like. From dealing with the City and the permit processing, which DaVinci handled all the hassles and required little or no effort on my part. Peter presented all of his licenses and his insurance coverage when he came back to go over the written proposal for our project. So, I don't know what the other person who wrote a review about meeting DaVinci at a home show and the people in the booth trying to hide something. From my personal experience with this company, they are honest, reputable and were always there to listen to my questions. The workers were always polite and were conscience of leaving their work space clean at the end of the day.
Description of Work: Second Story Addition on my ranch home, with a reconfiguration of the existing space. DaVinci reconfigured my old existing space and turn my home into the home I have always wanted.

They did a good prep work and were very thorough. They were helpful and worked with my time schedule. If I was not happy with something, they came over did the work again. Their price was very reasonable when compared to the other companies. They were easy to work with and I have no complaints against them.
Description of Work: They have done painting both inside and outside my house over the past 2 years.

During the materials selection process I found the person working with me was unprofessional/nnot helpful. One day before they were to start gutting my bathroom I called the plumbing vendor to ask a question and found out none of my materials had been ordered. I called other suppliers for the project and found the same situation. So, this person also was not doing his job. A few weeks later all was ordered and construction began due to extraordinary efforts on my part. Gut went fine. When the construction started, they did not have a drawing in hand and put a wall up in the wrong place. The sub floor work seemed to be okay and within a couple of weeks plumbing and tile had been installed and they had the new drywall up. Once the painting was done it was clear all the new drywall was poorly installed. You could see tape lines, valleys, hills, you name it. The tile/grout was awful. The mesh backing of tile was sticking through the grout on corners, grout was missing in the new shower basin. For the tile work, they did not consistently use spacers on the wall tile and the insconsistencies were apparent. I brought issues to the attention of various project managers on an ongoing basis. There were also issues with the plumbing as every once in a while when enough pressure built up the shower would leak water. At that point, prior to glass installation, installing a skylight, sinks, etc. I put a stop to the project, outlined the issues and indicated work would not proceed until I met with the project manager to review/address the issues. For the next 6 weeks, I got the run around, they went through 5 project managers and in the case of two of them I met with them, they agreed there were issues and when they went back to meet with Peter (the owner) the next I heard was they were "on leave" for various reasons. Then a new PM would call and the old one never heard from again. In the end. the owner, salesperson and the lead worker came in to discuss the job and some missing materials with me. Rather than try to address the issues they tried to intimidate me. I simply kept asking them to confirm for me in writing which issues they were willing to address. They said they would and when they left I requested this in writing two more times and no confirmation was provided. At that point (in August) I terminated them and hired another contractor to complete the work. Once the new contractor started, we found a huge plumbing leak and soaked drywall. When they pulled the shower tile off, the adhesive was not applied correctly and was barely holding to the walls. The shower pan was a light mortar material and not cement. I ended up pulling up all the old tile and reinstalling. I had to purchase new plumbing fixtures due to an issue with the fixture installation. The new vendor also replaced all the drywall/backerboard in the shower and the shower pan. The work was shoddy, company non-responsive and I found them to be decept
Description of Work: I hired this company to gut rehab my master bath and kitchen in February, 2008. I lived the nightmare contractor story you hear about. I terminated the project midway through and took the loss of partial money paid as a hard lesson learned. Total master bath cost was supposed to be 18k. It took a long time to recover from this experience and to be able to comment on it.

Overall, excellent experience. Contractor, including office staff, was polite, detailed, professional, and always on time for appointments. Met with the contractor (owner) twice; once to review the work and once to review the estimate and discuss costs, etc. The contractor followed up with me several times, always asking if I had any questions. Due to the current economic situation, I had to postpone the work. The contractor recently followed up with me to see if I was still interested in their services. I advised them I could not commit at this time (due to the economic conditions). The contractor was very polite and asked that we call them for any future work. Again, excellent overall experience. I will not hesitate to contact this contractor for future work.

Our overall experience with Davinci was a positive one, from the office staff to the crew on site. When we had our 1st meeting with their sales representative, Bill, we felt very comfortable with him and appreciated his honesty as he answered our questions for the remodeling we were looking to have done. John, the project manager, was very responsive to our needs and easily reachable. We also appreciated Davinci's flexible budget. We couldn't be more pleased with our 2 baths and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Gutted 2 full baths down to the studs. Installed new drywall, ceramic floor and shower tile, all plumbing & electrical fixtures and painted each bath. Also installed, stained and varnished an interior door.

I did not get work from this company, nor will I ever hire them. I went to a remodeling show at the Rosemont in Februrary to interview prospective companies; as I am buying a house that needs to be remodeled. I asked questions such as if they were licensed and bonded. When I asked the two people at the Da Vinci stand (a man and a woman), they were very rude to me and refused to answer any of my questions and told me to leave their area. I couldnt believe the way they had treated me! I dont think its a crime to ask if a company has a license or if theyre bonded! Somethings fishy about this company!
