Everything went fine with Advance Sewer & Plumbing Inc. We had recurring problems before that and it's been wonderful since then. But he also suggested that was a temporary fix and within about two years, we would need to line our system and that's going to be a major, major, major expense. He was very good. He gave an estimate for lining and we talked a lot about it. After many, many, many problems over the years, we've been clean and dry since he fixed it. They were extremely good and very responsive. I don't know if I'm going to use him for the lining, just because the lining is a relatively new procedure and I think Advanced Plumbing is a relatively new company. I will do more research on linings before spending thousands of dollars. I've found some deals from companies for a third as much of the costs given me by Advanced Plumbing.
Description of Work: They did the hydro flush and used a water jet to flush out our sewer system.

His men arrived the day after we had lost power from the huge storms that hit the NW burbs and Chicago on 7/10/2011. It took them the entire day to dig the trench and install the new cleanout. It was very hot out, and I had no power. Normally, I'd offer the guys some cold drinks. Instead, not only did they go out and get cold drinks for themselves, but they even picked me up a drink and bought me lunch. Lev, the owner of the company, came across as very knowledgeable and honest. I double-checked what he told me about being responsible for my outside sewer line. Arlington Heights had to replace my incoming water pipe and my driveway skirt when that pipe broke 8 years ago, so I thought they'd do the sewer line if it needed replacing. Wrong! The (clean) water pipe is the village's up to the "buffalo box." After that, it's mine. The sewer is "mine" from my house to where it meets the mainline, on the other side of the street, under my neighbor's driveway skirt. Not keeping your sewer line maintained is a good way to lose a good $20K, or more! He said I could have waited 2-3 years, but I wanted it done. I'll have the basement/family room floor ripped-up and that part of the pipe repaired when I'm up to the challenge. I believe Lev is from Russia. He has an accent, but he's easy enough to understand. His employees who did the the digging were from Belize, and spoke perfect English. They were very hard-working, polite, and decent people, and I enjoyed spending the day talking with them while they worked (I didn't have much else to do without any electricity). They didn't cut corners, and they didn't try to cheat me. I've never met plumbers like them before! I cannot recommend them enough!
Description of Work: Used pipe camera to examine sewer line from 3" cleanout in laundry room. Found a "dip" with water sitting in it under the basement floor. Also found major tree root problems outside the house in the sewer line, especially in 2 spots which he said would become completely blocked in the next 2-3 years. I watched the camera screen the entire time, and he showed me the problem areas. He also informed me that the outdoor sewer line is the homeowner's responsibility up until where it meets the main line, and even if it runs under the road (ours does, and I verified I would have to pay for all repairs, even the street itself, if it had to be dug-up). He said the dip under the floor was not good, but not nearly as important as getting a full-size drain auger (6") into the pipe and cleaning it out to remove the tree roots. Recommended an outside cleanout be installed. Not cheap, but he beat all the other quotes. He also said he'd throw in the first cleaning for free, which he did. I had him and his men dig a 7' deep trench 10' from the foundation, down to the sewer line, and install a T joint with a cleanout trap at ground level for easy access to the full 120' of pipe that "belongs" to me (and no more disgusting messes indoors!).
