Called and they were very responsive. Booked an appointment within a couple days. They called before they came out, gave me a quote right then to replace the door pullies and finished the job quickly and for a fair price.
Description of Work: Our Kitchenaid dishwasher door broke - was very heavy and hard to open and close.

I had used their service last year and had a good experience. This year their administrator was very responsive and they were able to schedule a technician quickly to come out to perform an evaluation. The technician arrived promptly to review the issue. The problem arose when the technician informed me that the hinge cost was $64.00 per hinge. I informed him that I spoke with Kenmore parts directly the day before and the cost was $32.00 per hinge. There should not be a 100% mark up on parts when you are in the service delivery portion of the business and you should not inform your customer that they are wrong on parts pricing since in this case I had already spoken to the Kenmore parts center the day before. This in turn creates questions around the integrity of the service pricing which led me to pursue other vendors for the hinge replacement service. I was surprised by this result given my previous experience with this firm and given their reputation and other service reviews. I paid the diagnostic fee and he departed.

Response from Mr. Appliance of Kane Kendall Will & Dupage
Mr [Member Name Removed], I am glad to here that you were pleased with our responsiveness, and past service experience. As far as your concerns over pricing, we are generally find we are priced in the middle of our competitors. We believe we offer superior service, and warranty our repairs for 1 year. We offer the 1 year warranty on part and labor, which is included in pricing. As far as the Technicians response to your questioning of part pricing, the parts are calculated for them they only see the job price. He should not have been argumentative or otherwise disrespectful if he was I apologize, and has been informed of your concern. I appreciate your input, and would hope to do business with you again in the future. If you would like to discuss further I would be happy to discuss offline. My over-the-range microwave is not working. It is jenn-air brand and pretty expensive. It is only 4.5 years old. Victor came on scheduled time. Spent 30-45 mintues but could not figure out the root cause. There was burning smell. Instead of finding what is burnt, he spent time on the control pad. At the end, just telling me that it is not worth to fix this microwave. He was just guessing that it was an issue with magnetron but not sure. I don't think he is qualified enough to fix microwave issue. It seems like I just spent $89.95 for nothing.

Response from Mr. Appliance of Kane Kendall Will & Dupage
This is the Owner of Mr Appliance of Kendall. Brian T I am sorry you did not feel you received value for you repair. I myself am an Appliance Technician for over 25 years, and provide technical support for my Technicians. Victor actually had contacted me while in you're home to verify his diagnosis. As you can see in his notes that he performed proper and extensive diagnostic procedures. When he arrived identified that the Safety cut out had opened leaving it the microwave dead with no display. Victor was able to temporarily jump out the cut out for further testing. The high amperage draw with no heating indicates a failure in the "high side" components. This is why the safety cut out opened which is it's job to prevent any risk of fire etc... Victor removed the jumper after testing for safety. The "high side" of a Microwave is the Magnatron, high voltage capacitor, and diode. Unfortunately to replace those components is close to the cost of purchasing a new unit. The ball park quote he gave you instead of spending another 45 minutes looking up the specific parts was actually a little conservative. I took the time and looked up the components and priced the job to repair you're unit would be $495. I would agree with Victor and not recommend investing that amount of money in a 6-7 year old microwave whose average life span is 10-12 years. In short I feel Victor did what any customer would ask of us. Inspect the unit, and Identify the failure. Advise of cost of repair all of which Victor provided you. I know it is never pleasant news that you need to purchase a new product. It is part of what people pay us for, is to advise them whether to repair or replace their product. I would hope you would offer us another opportunity to serve you should the need arise. Our Technicians have a 90% satisfaction rate which in this business is outstanding. Victor is actually a little higher in Satisfaction rating personally. ps: if you would prefer to invest the money in you're current microwave we would be happy to do that for you as well. Call our office if you would like to perform the repair.

The dishwasher which we purchased from IKEA failed at near the end of the five year warranty. Repair parts were no longer available so Whirlpool said they would replace the unit with a comparable one. After three months and six calls they were unable to find an exact replacement so they upgraded us to a top line KitchenAid to be installed by Mr. Appliance. The owners of Mr. Appliance went out of their way to help get the unit from Whirlpool as soon as possible, they lived up to each of their promises by returning calls and showing up on time and doing a great job of removing the old and installing the new. I recommend them and would use their services in the future.

Called Mr Appliance a little after 9 am on Saturday 6/4/2016 to get a nonworking side by side refrigerator repaired. Although the company website indicated that they closed at noon on Saturdays, I was told that someone would be out to our home between 11 am and 1 pm. The technician (I think his name was Victor) arrived about 1125 am. He wore booties over his shoes when in the house, and brought in two mats to protect the floor (one mat to put his tools on and one to roll the fridge onto). He was efficient and started work immediately. Victor was pleasant and explained what he was doing and why. In this case refrigerator repair was not cost effective, and we elected not to have it repaired. We appreciated the fast response which allowed us to shop and purchase a new refrigerator later that day.

Description of Work: Price is reasonable however I am not sure if that is applicable towards the next repair and so left it at B since the initial trip was an evaluation trip. | |we were out and Brian had come for the service. He did explain things over the phone but would wish that the details of the service were documented so that we could reproduce that information for our conversation with Dacor rather than use memory, especially when we had to explain technical issues. | |Overall had a nice experience Brian and his office (Sherry and another lady). Will use their services again if need be and will recommend their services too. Thank you.

We had requested initial estimate from Mr Appliance. Estimate seemed high on total amount. However after performing extensive research with various technicians and other vendors we took leap of faith and wanted to have it serviced through Mr Appliance as vendor. We were extremely satisfied with the vendor after the service was performed. Our initial review was knee jerk reaction to communication failure. We would recommend service from Brian and or technician from Mr Appliance to anyone wanting to repair their appliances. We realized that cheap does not always equate to good service. Dacor ranges are very complex to repair and Brian walked us through each step of the way and justified how complex repair of Dacor range is and hence higher cost of repair. We would highly recommend anyone wanting to use high quality service to approach Mr Appliance or Brian for repair service.

Called to see if they could come early. That was ok. When they were here to install the microwave they asked to barrow a drill. They forgot theirs. They also asked if I had tile to shim the back of the microwave. I did. They also asked if I had a drill bit that would drill thru tile. Now if you are installing something on the wall of a kitchen, I would think a drill would be one of the tools you would need. And as many kitchens have tiling in them a drill bit for tile would also be required. Lastly, I used a credit card to pay for the service. I was told the price of the installation but I never saw the amount that was charged to my account. I had to sign first then they typed in the dollar amount. I did not get a receipt. I was told I had to call the office for a receipt.

Response from Mr. Appliance of Kane Kendall Will & Dupage
Install is not something we do a lot because you ususally get a better deal from the place you buy the unit from. 98% of our business is repair. We tell our customers that when they call to inquire about installs but we will do them for customers if they would like. The techs that ran this call were in a new smaller truck that does not have as much room to store as many tools in it. We were told this was changing out one unit for a new one so there normally would not be any modifications needed to install. Must not have been like for like install. Again install is probably only maybe 2% of our business so sometimes the tech may forget to pull everything they may need to take with them since each install is different. We tell our customers when they call we can do installs that are replacing existing units but we do not do any cabinet modification. Also as far a receipts go all our tickets and invoicing is done on the ipad. We email all receipts for credit cards and also the copy of the invoice. If a customer does not have email a paper receipt can be mailed to the customer by the office. Sometimes the ipad closes a ticket before the tech can enter an email address to send the receipt so then the office will have to mail the receipt to the customer which we will gladly do. As far as signing without seeing a price that is something in the program that our franchise is working on but when we do repairs the tech is to show the customer the quote in the ipad before the work is performed and then they sign when it is complete and then the receipt is emailed unless the customer would like it mailed. Some customers prefer both email and a mailed copy which is no problem as well.

This visit was like many others over the years. He was punctual, focused, and fast. Jim has an encyclopaedic knowledge of appliances and a vast stock of the little bits that are likely to break. He can sometimes offer, over the phone, a plausible explanation for an unusual noise issuing from the 'fridge or dryer, even if that explanation will not require a visit. His prices are extremely reasonable, and his integrity is such that he will never propose a needless service to pad the bill. If your appliance needs servicing in the La Salle county area, I recommend calling Mr Appliance.
Description of Work: When my gorgeous GE electric double oven from 1972 (when they were made in the USA and built to last) needed a switch replaced after 40 years, I called Mr Appliance, who agreed to visit the house the next day at around 10 a.m. He showed up on time, removed the faulty switch, installed the replacement, and as always, taught me one or two things I had not previously known about the appliance. On another occasion, he replaced a broken ice cube maker (on a 2008 GE refrigerator, made in Mexico and as shoddy as they come) and while he was at it, offered a solution for the cool water dispenser which was constantly freezing. Jim has repaired several appliances here over the years, always with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of attention to detail.

Over all the experience was good. I would definitely contact them again.
Description of Work: First they came to check my refrigerator not working. They called and came earlier than expected which tells me they don't overbook their techs. The technician was very friendly. My compressor had gone bad and fortunately the warranty was going to cover it. They worked with Whirlpool to replace the compressor and scheduled the job 2 days later when the compressor came in. Again they called to ask if the tech could come early. My only complaint is that when the tech came he didn't bring a recovery tank to reclaim the refrigerant. He was done in a short time and the fridge was purring again. I would definitely call them again.

My microwave/convection oven stopped working and I called several repair services only to find that they did not work on them. Then I called Mr. Appliance. The woman who answered the phone was exceptionally friendly and professional and she set up an appointment for several days later. The day before the appointment, she called and gave me a two hour window when the technician would be arriving. The day of the repair, she called when the technician was on route from his last call to my house. Two technicians arrived on time, one who was training the other. The trainer (who was the owner of the franchise) told me that they would examine the oven first, give me an estimate, and let me decide if I wanted the repairs done. If I did not have the repairs completed, there would a $75 fee for their diagnostic work. If the repairs were done, the fee would be waived. They examined the microwave very thoroughly and told me that a switch had gone bad. I told them to replace it. I felt comfortable talking with them as they worked and they seemed happy to answer my questions. When I paid the bill of $150, they told me that the repairs and part were warranteed for 90 days. Several days later, I got another call from Mr. Appliance, giving me a short questionnaire to see if I was satisfied with the work. Several days after that, a coupon arrived in the mail for $10 off my next repair. The oven worked well for several months, but then it stopped operating again with the exact same ?symptoms? as before. I called Mr. Appliance and a different woman answered the phone, but she was also friendly and professional. She looked up my records, and told me that it was 90 days, to the day, since my last repair, but she assured me that if it was the same problem, the work and part were warranteed. This time, the first available date was two weeks away since the trainer was the only technician who worked on my brand of ovens. They followed the same procedure about the prior phone calls. The same technician arrived shortly ahead of schedule and was polite and friendly. He spent 30-45 minutes examining the unit and then told me that the same switch was faulty again. He replaced the switch and told me there would be no charge since the work was under warranty. Feeling a little bad about all the time he had spent on the oven, I asked him if he would also listen to the washing machine (which had recently developed a strange noise). He identified the problem within seconds. I had planned on having to make another appointment, but he told me he had the part on the truck and he would be glad to fix it while he was there. He replaced several small parts and I was happy that he saved me another appointment. He charged me $105 for the washer repair.
