He was charming and professional. Then he fell off the face of the earth after he cashed my deposit check. He did return the money after he FINALLY contacted me back. I would NEVER recommend him.

Regrettably I contracted with Mr. Chuck Tursi, owner of Timber Decks for the construction of a new wooden deck a couple of years ago. This was the worst mistake I have made in my 25+ years as a homeowner. The deck was poorly constructed due to Mr. Tursi’s failure to provide any oversight to his crew. As such the deck was constructed using steel shank nails instead of decking screws. Consequently after only one year nail heads began “popping up” in large numbers and deck stability began to rapidly deteriorate. This problem continued to escalate and was discussed with Mr. Tursi who assured me that he would correct the problem. Suffice it to say that Mr. Tursi’s promises to me were of the same quality as his deck construction, shaky and unreliable. I also wondered why Mr. Tursi never called the municipal building department for a final permit inspection. This mystery cleared itself up when the building department wanted to close the permit out and came out of its own volition to inspect the deck. Needless to say that the deck was cited for several code violations and failed the inspection. Ultimately last year I had the deck essentially, fully rebuilt by a competent professional. Based on my experience with Timber Decks and Mr. Tursi, I would suggest calling another contractor. However, should you ignore this advice please get everything in writing, make sure you have a building permit, and have the final permit inspection conducted by the municipal building inspector immediately upon completion of the job and before paying any final installment that might be due!

On February 12, 2018 I signed a contract with Timber Decks for a 14 ft x 14 ft deck. Chuck Turrisi, the owner, went out personally and measured the deck. We signed the contract for a 14 ft x 14 ft deck. I gave him a 1/3 in the beginning, a 1/3 when they started and a 1/3 when they finished the deck. Chuck sent workers out and completed the work on March 28, 2018. My mistake for not being there. When I went to review the work I found that instead of a 14 ft x 14 ft deck we contracted for, the dimensions of the deck were 12 ft x 14 ft. No one contacted us on why the workers decided to shave off 28 feet (2 ft x 14 ft) of deck. There was also a portion of the deck behind some bushes that was not finished and still is not finished. When we contacted Chuck he said he’d reduce the price of the deck to reflect the 12 ft x 14 ft dimensions, i.e. after we brought it to his attention. It doesn’t appear that Chuck or any of his workers read contract requirements, peer review finished product or communicate with customers. We want the 14 ft x 14 ft deck that we contracted for. Our parents are elderly, use walkers and the reduced space is a fall risk for them.

They are a very busy contractor, and we can see why...work was high quality, composite was great choice, end result was beautiful. Owner is very knowledgeable, totally involved and on site for every phase of construction. He handled the complicated permit process for us. Overall super happy with final product. Would definitely hire again!

I had some communication problems. I kept calling and calling. We put a deposit down in June for a simple deck and we were told 30 days, but they just recently finished it. I think they took on to much work and for whatever reason they were just slow. I would use again with reservations. Their work and their people were fantastic.

I had a very good experience with them. Chuck is a very personable individual. He went through all of the options thoroughly and made sure i was comfortable with the selection I made.

I wish there was a "maybe" or "with reservations" choice for "Would you hire again?" On the plus side, the workmanship for both the deck and fence is excellent. Building took place on some of the hottest days, but the crew worked hard and were meticulous in what they did, always leaving the work area in order. Building inspectors commended them for their workmanship. On the negative side, communication was poor, which led to much aggravation on our part, and a resolve not to recommend this company without telling about our experience. Chuck is an amiable man who is quite proud of his work - and he should be, it is excellent. On the business side, however, communication was sorely lacking. On many occasions, I had to leave several messages before getting a response. On the two occasions when Chuck was unavoidably out of town, there was no one else serving as the "go to" person. We signed our contract in mid-March; construction began - finally - the end of June, and ended mid-August. The spring weather played a part, but was not the only factor involved in the delays. He tells us he has taken steps already to remedy the issues he faced this season. I would suggest anyone considering Timber Decks, Inc., should make sure you get a specific timeline (with allowance for weather delays) for the process.

They were great. Chuck the owner was amazing and very responsive.

I called and left two voicemails for Chuck over more than a weeks time to get an estimate and learn more about the company..never got a call back. This company had some great reviews, I would have liked to have been able to possibly work with them. But that's difficult when you can't even initially reach them...

Fantastic! Chuck and his team were great from the design phase to the building of the deck. There were able to deliver on everything that I wanted in our deck, and at the same time gave great advice along the way. There were very quick too; they got the whole project done in about 5 days. I would highly recommend them!

Chuck, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. The end product was more than we had expected. The quality of the construction is great. Can't wait to spend a lot of time enjoying our gazebo

Everything went great. We've had a ton of compliments on the patio. They even got shingles and gutters to match our house. Highly recommended!

This was a good experience . It takes a few phone calls but Chuck eventually returns the phone call and corrects any problems.

Chuck was extremely helpful from start to finish on the project. He took time to listen to our ideas on a deck we had planned for a long time. He expanded on our ideas and refined them into a deck that is everything we had hoped for and more. Because I had specific ideas about how I wanted the deck constructed, I as highly involved with the project and Chuck and his crew were both understanding and receptive to my concerns. There were some unique aspects to the deck that required some original thought in the design and they were more than up to the task. They did great work and cleaned up after themselves. Any concerns I had were quickly addressed to my satisfaction. They also rebuilt my front porch to match the deck and did a great job on that. They even added a small step to another door where the previous concrete step had become useless due to settling. Their price was very good compared to other quotes I got and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the result. I would definitely recommend giving the a chance to earn your business and would use them in the future if we have a similar project.

A fabulous job. Chuck took the ideas I had, made some suggestions and gave me a wonderful deck. I plan on using Timber Decks to redo my front porch.

Chuck of Timber Decks contacted me same day and came by first thing the next morning and actually completed the job. I had actually already installed the interior double french doors but my 'homeowner" install was not right. I am not a carpenter by trade but I am always willing to try a project. These doors were tricky. Chuck came by and had the door right with 15-20 minutes. He also made a few other adjustments to get the door as near perfect as possible. He even went to the store bought door casing that matched my existing trim and installed the rest of the door hardware as well as the finish trim. I appreciated his level of expertise and experience and especially his unbelievably quick response to get my job completed.

They tore the old deck out in less than half a day, then dug and filled new footers for the new deck. They used pressure treated wood for the structure and deck surface and cedar for the railings and a privacy fence. They also put up a cedar fence across the back of our property. These guys do really good work! I am glad we chose them over the other two that bid the job. Chuck was the only one who recommended all new construction instead of resurfacing what was already there. They even fixed a latch on one of our fence gates without prompting. The fit and finish of the trim work is evidence of the quality of their work. I would choose Timber Decks again without question.

While Chuck I believe is a good guy.... whether business is just too good, I am not sure, but recent responsiveness was terrible. Chuck quoted work on replacing boards and shoring up older deck. Chuck always wants half down, and that is for the whole job not just materials, at least on work he has quoted and done in the past for us. On this $2000 job had to give him $1000 upfront. Labors he said were going to come out next day to start tearing up old boards never showed up. Was a beautiful day. No call or nothing from Chuck to reschedule, and at least a heads up, when someone would be out to start job. Then when pursuing after a week, it become excuses of it was wet, supposed to rain.... or other times just no response at all. Finally we just asked for money back, after 3 weeks. Yes, Chuck eventually sent the $1000 back, in two weeks....but why quote the job.... if you just can't get to it??? Also Chuck had installed paneling in our basement last year. Just recently contacted him about this, as we were having issues after less than a year.... and that I also wanted a quote on some additional work in basement....no response back one way or other. So as said, Chuck seems to be a good guy, just be careful with the time of year, his follow up, and some of the quality of work, long term.

Chuck and his crew built us a fantastic deck!! We are very happy. His crew was supremely courteous and patient, and the quality of the craftsmanship is very very remarkable! The devil is in the details...and the little things matter a great deal, like how tight the decking boards are to the railings posts, the quality of the wood chosen, the perfect layout and sturdiness of the frame, the perfect lines of the nails, etc. etc. This company truly uses skilled carpenters, and their dedication to quality is very evident in the final product. The edges are perfect, the seams as tight as it gets. These guys know what they're doing. My only constructive criticism is that I recommend more proactive communication from the owner during construction (changes in schedule, weather delays, etc.). Chuck always did get back to me with my scheduling questions and was always very courteous, but I usually had to seek him out versus him keeping me informed. Admittedly, however, I am a very needy in the communication department, so take that into consideration with that feedback. That being said, I strongly recommend this company to build your deck, and have already referred them out to a close friend. Great price, top-quality work, and friendly and professional crew. And, believe me, this is coming from a pretty picky guy! Thanks, Chuck. job well done!

Process started when met with Chuck for evaluation. Spent a lot of time with us and very helpful in design process. Very pleased with his professionalism and overall approach to project. As far as work, the entire crew has vey good and professional. They did a 12x16 composite deck and turned out beautiful. Could not be more please with the deck. Their craftsmanship is top notch and plan on using him again in the future for other projects.

Overall, we are VERY satisfied with the gazebo. My wife and I love it. There were some delays in installing the gazebo, but these were mostly due the adverse weather conditions, and our home association (who delayed the start of the job by almost a month). Chuck worked with us to get the gazebo installed as soon as practical. We also experienced a few construction issues during the job (nothing abnormal for such a project). Once these were identified, and the information provided to Chuck, he promised that the issues would be addressed. True to his word, all issues were resolved to our satisfaction. Chuck proved to me that he would do a quality job, and would work to address any concerns I had as a customer. We are very satisfied customers, and would definately recommend Timber Decks to any of our friends.

We contacted Timber Decks to provide an estimate on extending the deck to our future pool. Chuck from Timber Decks responded very quickly and arrived on time. On his first visit we explained what we were going to need done and said he would be more than happy to provide a estimate, but would require the pool to be installed first. So we agreed to that. The pool was installed and we re-scheduled another visit. Again Chuck was very responsive and showed up as scheduled. He had a lot of great ideas and we planned for about an hour on the work to be done. My wife and I were really looking forward to getting started on this project. Chuck showed us pictures and we were impressed with his work. Now all we needed was an estimate and start date. This is where Timber Decks gets their overall 'D' rating. A week went by and no estimate, then another week. We contacted him again and still nothing. In the mean time, we saw Chuck begin a job at a home in our neighborhood ( the one with the variances and starting in October finishing by Christmas). I guess Timber Decks just pick the jobs they want to do. I cannot believe in the times we live in contractors would turn away work. If you don't want to do the work say so. Why bother coming out in the first place. Very unprofessional, hence the 'D'. Your responsiveness and ideas kept you from getting an 'F'. You had the job, just needed to provide a quote and pick a start date. Timber Deck was luck to get the 'D' rating.

In as much as the project dragged out much too long and we had to get more involved in the permit and variance process, we are very pleased with the finished enclosed porch. We are happy with the structure, the work completed by the roofer, and the contractor who did the siding. We look forward to relaxing on our new enclosed porch.
