Great! Jeff was recommended by a neighbor who had him do the same service. (All AC units were placed on the patios during construction 20 years ago.) He scheduled a weekday service with me, but had to cancel during that day due to another customer's work taking longer than expected. His crew showed up the following Saturday when I told him I couldn't take another day off work The guys showed up on time and did a great job. They ran the electric and other pipes around the foundation keeping it close and tied up. They placed the air condition where it wouldn't be as loud when sitting on the patio. They cleaned the unit and showed me how to clean it each spring. They filled it the unit with Freon. And they cleaned everything up as if the AC unit had been there all along. I think my biggest concern was that all the wiring and piping be neat and as close the house as possible. Mission accomplished by Jeff's guys. I think Jeff's quote was a little low considering the Saturday worker pay, but he stuck with his original quote. All in all a great experience.
Description of Work: Moved my air conditioner 8 feet from my patio.

See above description and discussion.
Description of Work: 6/2/11 they replaced the air conditioner compressor. August 31 a different employee evaluated the system (due to noise--turned out to be furnace fan noise) and advised me that the compressor pressures were erratice due to debris on condenser coils and stated that the compressor needed to be replaced. This was for a three month old compressor--and they would not replace it under warranty as it was damaged due to the debris on the coils (a light coating of cottonwood dust--and not covering the coils completely). Had another firm evaluate the compressor and was told they "Found non-condensables in the A/C system" (due to improper installation) and there was "No liquid line filter dryer installed". They serviced and recharged the system. Cost $518. Pressures were then stable. I requested that Homeowner Helper pay the $518 cost. I was told "If you had a problem with one of our Service Technicians or his diagnosis you should have called us and requested that a Manager come out to give a second opinion." (This is after they did not do the installation properly, and a second representative told me the new compressor had to be replaced and they would not do it under warranty.) They stated "Since you did not handle this the correct way we can not provide any reimbursement to you." Bottom line-- the new compressor that they said had to be replaced continues to work perfectly. I will never use them again.

Our relationship is over. I am not confident that our A/C was installed correctly. I need to hire someone else to check their work now.
Description of Work: After installing a brand new air handler and Carrier air conditioner unit last summer, our unit mysteriously malfunctioned 2 weeks ago during a hot and humid spell. When the tech arrived, he troubleshooted the issue, and came back to us with a story about a power surge from Com Ed, and that we needed to have Homeowner Helper install a surge protector on the air handler portion of the system in the attic. It would $220+, and they needed a deposit. We gave them a credit card number while they were at the house. They indicated, at the time, that only a portion of that amount would be charged to the credit card, with the full amount charged after installation. We looked at our our card charges, and the whole amount was charged before we even had an appointment for the install. Needless to say, we disputed the charge, and our relationship with Homeowner Helper/Hart's Heating and Cooling is over. We also had a prior issue with them sending a bill for a service call that was not actually performed. All of it seems kind of crazy and wrong. Stay Away, I say!!
