SELECT ELECTRICAL

Dan Mitchell stopped by the day I called and took the broken glass rim to inquire about the possibility of finding a replacement. Once he found a replacement, he called and promptly installed it.

I first found Select by a search here on Angie's List when I was getting the underground line installed. I called a couple of different places and Dan Mitchell with Select Electric was comparable to all of the other quotes. He was always punctual and professional. I could also tell he was very knowledgeable as he was able to tell me exactly what had to be done, how the local codes affected what I wanted to do, etc. He laid it all out for me. On the date that services were to be performed, he was right on time. It took two days to do it because of all of the digging, etc., that needed to be done. He was diligent in his work and did exactly what he said he would do. I used him again for the installation of the chandelier and it was, once again, a job well done. He knew enough to first check out the structure of the current lighting mount to make sure it would hold the weight of the new fixture before even discussing the price with me, though he did give me ranges of the cost. After checking it out, he quoted a fair price and did all of the work in a timely manner. I will use Select Electrical anytime I need electric work done. I would also HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to any and all who would ask me.

Worked only with the owner, Dan Mitchell. He provided the estimate and did all the work. Dan's estimate was several hundred dollars less than the other estimates we received. He worked around our schedule, showed up on time, and stayed late to finish the job as promised. Dan covered the rugs and furniture where he was working and there was very little cleanup necessary. Everything works and looks great. Would use his services again.

The job went very smoothly overall. Considering the 'spagetti bowl" of wires Dan found when he arrived, he managed to figure out what went wrong with the original job very quickly.

I had visions of significant work - including replacing the panel To my relief, Dan was able to perform the task with much less work. He ran conduit from the breaker box through our finished basement ceiling (without adding any more holes than the ones I already had made) then up into the kitchen, right through the old hole where there had been a gas line. The conduit work is clean and neat. He initially came by around 2:30 to look and give a price, then had to leave to stop at another job, but wanted to come back and do the work that afternoon. He was back around 3:45 and worked until about 7:45 to get it done. The only negative I can really come up with is that he had guessed he'd be done by 7 and it took until 7:45. Not a problem at all for us, and I certainly can't complain about someone staying that late to finish a job. He could have left it half done and come back another day, which would have been much less convenient. I usually take care of minor electrical work myself, and will no doubt continue to do so. But if or when something else major comes up, I'll definitely call Dan.

I would certainly call him in the future!

Was always on time (took about 3 trips), friendly, knowledgable, very professional and fairly priced. I LEARNED TO TRUST AN ELECTRICIAN TO DO THIS KIND OF WORK, NOT A REMODELER - THEY HAVE DIFFERENT SKILLS.

It went extremely well overall. The only reason I gave him a B for quality is because he used round "pancake" electrical boxes instead of the larger/deeper octagonal fan-rated boxes; my husband (admittedly a perfectionist) was worried that the thinner "pancake" box wouldn't be strong enough to support the fans, so he spent time in the attic adding wood bracing to which he then secured the boxes at a few more places (we didn't want to pay more money to have the electrician return to replace the four boxes). I believe that both types of boxes are "fan-rated" (according to http://homerepair.about.com/od/electricalrepair/ss/elec_box_ltg_5.htm), but I grew up with a union-electrician dad, and I've only seen the larger octagonal boxes used until now. It's probably more of a preference, but if you want a certain kind, I guess you need to ask for it these days. Otherwise, the work was excellent. I was especially impressed by his promptness/professionalism; he responded to my initial call immediately, returned subsequent calls to set up an install date exactly when he said he would, and showed up to do the work 15 minutes early!

They did a great job. They were wonderful. The work was prompt and neat. I would use them again.

Dan was prompt, professional, determined and also provided great advice about owning a pool.

The experience from start to "just before finish" was excellent. I emailed pictures and description for the job to Select and they quickly provided a fair quote. I had a couple of other quotes that were a little less expensive, but wanted to use Select as they are local. I asked them to match the other quotes and they agreed, we now had a price. They sent two workers to do the job, they arrived on time, were very courteous, were VERY protective of my home during the work, did a very good job, and the experience was terrific. The only problem came at the end; apparently the job took longer than they anticipated and I received a call from the owner asking for "substantially" more payment. I reminded him we agreed on a fixed price, and I would not be paying any more than that amount. They ended up accepting that payment, but it made me feel awkward and put a sour taste on what otherwise was a terrific job done I will definitely use Select again, but I will make sure to get a fixed price for the work in writing in advance.

He arrived on the date and time specified, gave us an estimate and clarified the estimate when we needed to compare it with that of another electrician. He worked with our schedules and completed all the work in three afternoons. We were very satisfied with the work and the price.

He did an outstanding job. He is very personable, timely, experienced, and did a great job. I thought the price was reasonable and he was knowledgeable in his field. He is a very good communicator as well.

The man came-out and fixed the outlet and everything seemed to be okay. By the end of the month, the same problem occurred. They came-out again and inspected the same circuit. He ended up finding a wire that was loose in the breaker slot. To me, I felt that this was a follow-up, but they dealt with it as a brand new job and charged me another $150.00. I didn't feel that it was appropriate to charge for the second visit, as the problem with the circuit should have been identified during their first visit. They know what they are doing and do quality work, but based off of the last issue, I would look for other companies to hire.

Dan was punctual for both our initial meeting and when the work was performed. His quotation was competitive. The installation was done in a professional manner, and we were completely satisfied. I plan to use his services again in the near future for another project.

He does excellent work. Very prompt and would call him again.

I talked to Dan on Monday afternoon and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. He arrived right on time and was very professional. It took a 16 foot ladder (which he had) for him to reach the fan. After discussing it, I decided to have him install a wall switch (where I could control the speed) rather than replace the receiver. (I was worried another storm could knock out the receiver again.) It took about 2 hours of which about 25 minutes was getting a ladder of that size into my house and setting it up. I will definitely use Dan's services again.

Great work, provided detailed estimate with options. Worked very well with city inspector.

The work was done quickly, efficiently and was very much worth what we paid for the service. I had received three quotes for the same work and one of Angies list handymen quoted me $1400.00 for the same work. We were very please with the work that was performed.

He was an hour early which was a little inconvenient. He was not very professional and his pricing was very high. I had a fire in my house and I needed a note to send it to my insurance company and he charged me a lot of money for that.

Very professional and prompt response. In the end we went with a bid that was less.

Perfect from start to finish. He even installed a programmable thermostat at the last minute for me - and it was at the very end of the work day. Also gave helpful feedback about other possible areas to address down the road.

He was responsive and professional. I would highly recommend him to others.
