Nick was exceptional on quality work, turn-around time, price and more! He worked in our home while we were at work during the day. My wife and I both felt like he was very trustworthy, professional and that we were lucky to find him. I'd give Nick 6 stars, on a 5 star scale! Hire him if you can! He's great!

Fair price. Job well done. I was very pleased with the attention to detail in the prep work- All of the bad caulk joints were opened up and re-caulked. In addition, Nick replaced a number of warped and cracked cedar boards with new cedar boards I supplied. I would recommend and will hire Nick again in the future.

Waiting for after holidays to begin work painting Living Room and Dining Room ceilings and walls

Interior paining of 2400' house, includes walls (4 bdrm, den, family, living, kitchen,etc), baseboard, window, door trim, fixed ceiling holes, caulking where needed. 2 or 3 painter (Nick, brother and cousin) were paining for 1.5 weeks. Nick showed up on or before time everyday, he has 20+ yrs of experience. Excellent job done.

All went very well. Nick and one other helper, ( John), showed up every day, timely. (4.5 days). They tidied up every evening. Would definitely recommend and call Nick for any future painting jobs.

Quote: I hired Nick's Painting after getting numerous quotes from numerous AL providers. First, Nick was extremely responsive and prompt with his quote. I knew from referrals that Nick was busy and was pleased that he was able to provide the quote within a few days of calling. Color Consultation: I have a cedar sided home with shutters that was in desperate need of a fresh stain. I was not a fan of the previous color and asked NIck if he'd come to the house and give my wife and I a color consultation. I researched some themes online and had sent Nick a few pictures and he came prepared with a number of color ideas for the base color, the trim, and the deck (which we also had him power wash and stain). Nick was able to speak from experience and guide us through the process to ensure our vision was realized. Work: It's always a concern for me if my contact sub-contracts the job that we've discussed. Nick treats his work as art and really pays close attention to every aspect of the job. I did my research and knew in advance the importance of the caulking process and the preparation of the cedar. Nick used only the finest materials for the job and was very thorough. Overall, NIck did an amazing job with the house and has completely changed the curb appeal. We've had neighbors stop to compliment the work and the amazing change to the house. Great work, great price, great results. I will be having Nick back to do interior painting for us...if he can fit us into his already busy schedule.

My standards are high, but Nick's were not. Very disappointed over the money spent considering I have a future of do-overs that I don't have/didn't have time for. And, ruined surface casualties are not necessary with precautions taken and a little consideration. I have overspray (oil based paint) on some brand new vinyl windows and screens, on bathroom vanity and tile floor and on oak stairway railings, and splattered and dripped paint on kitchen cabinets. (Aside from what I scrape/pick from floors and countertops.) Pretended to have completed work. Single coat on wall in at least one room and some rooms/areas got a single swipe of paint (white oil over white primer) on baseboards for about 40% coverage with primer only very evident. Some areas skipped altogether. Negligence left some baseboards as rough as sandpaper, having started with pre-primed, smooth as glass surfaces. I chose Nick because he seemed sincere and I took confidence in his Angie's List A rating. The reason that I decided to rate him honestly, nearly 6 months later, instead of not bothering to do so at all, and not seeing kindness in publicly maligning him is: I was a new subscriber to Angie's List. I needed a tool to help me make choices/decisions. I have been out of the area for 20 years and was not getting great recommendations from others that I asked. If people only review their positive experiences, others will make bad choices. I no longer trust what I see on Angie's List, because of what I don't see. There can not be any anonymous reviews - that might be why some don't want to leave an honest review if it is negative. That is a flaw in the service. SERVICE PROVIDERS READ ANGIE'S LIST TOO!

We have used Nick's Painting a couple of times. The first time, several years ago, 2008, I needed several rooms updated, with a thought of putting it up for sale. His pricing matched what we thought the job was worth. He did an excellendtand timely job. As the realestate market went south those years, I decided to renovate. At the end of 2009, I went with another Angie's List recommendation, DesignFirst Builders in Itasca IL. I worked with DesignFirst Builders to hire Nick and have him do all the painting, inside and out. His experience and eye for colors delighted my then girl-friend, (and now wife). I think we utilized 13 different colors, stains, and varnishes for both inside and outside the house. Nick had to cover bare wood, plastic, fiber-glass Pella window frames, a metal overhead garage door and service doors. Four years later, all the surfaces still look great and are holding up. I was and still am very pleased with my decision to have gone with Nick's Painting. Then my wife booked a trip to Ireland in early 2013 for over Thanksgiving. Everything was fine until she wanted to change the look of our family room. When she finally found the curtains she liked, it was the end of October, 2013. And she thought maybe she could have the room painted for a family Christmas gathering. She then thought, wouldn't it be great if it could be done while we were on vacation in Ireland. Needless to say we contacted Nick and he came by for an estimate. During the discussion the wife decided to have the Kitchen walls and coffered ceilings repainted also. Again Nick came though completing the job while we were gone. It was nice feeling knowing you can trust someone in your home for a few days if needed while you're out of town. Nick will always be my wife's painter. (mine too).

Nick was thorough in his estimate and prompt with his quotation. When the work started he was mindful of minimizing the disruptiion to our house. He cleaned up and vacuumed at the end of each day. He was prompt every day. Total time was 6 days. The quality of his work was exceptional. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Nick arrived on time, was quick and efficient and did a beautiful job. We have hardwood floors that were recently finished so Nick took extra care to ensure they were protected. Workmen were finishing a remodeling project while Nick painted so he had to coordinate with them. We had an emergency during this period and Nick worked around our schedule. He was always professional and helpful. I highly recommend Nick's Painting.

We were moving into a new house, and wanted it painted before our kids returned from a week long vacation so we could unpack. Not only did Nick meet us at the house prior to our closing to prepare an estimate for us, but he started on a Saturday and worked until Tuesday to accommodate our schedule. He really understands the importance of customer service. After we closed and the sellers removed all their furniture, we got to really look at the walls at length, so we noticed that they needed more work than we originally had thought. When the scope of work expanded and grew to include things that were not originally on the estimate, Nick charged a flat day fee and did as much as he could to fit into one extra day instead of having to charge us additional days to finish up. He stayed late, and really went over and above what was expected to get the job done, and done well. We could not have done as much in four days as what he and his helper did. The house looks amazing, and we will definitely be calling him when our new furniture arrives to finish up the rooms that we left unchanged. Hire this company with confidence. You cannot go wrong with Nick. Plus, HE's the guy who comes out to give an estimate. HE's the guy who shows up to do the work. HE's the guy who is accountable if anything goes wrong, which it does not. This is one guy, doing amazing work that he is proud to stand behind and put his name on. To say that we are happy customers is an understatement! We will never hire another painter. Nick is our guy...for life.

Nick is just wonderful! His pricing is fair and competitive and the quality cannot be beat. He also works really quickly and efficiently, staying to make sure the job is done correctly. We plan on having him back in the near future to do our laundry room, kitchen and master bathroom. Nick has done for us in about a 4 days of work what would have taken us WEEKS to complete, probably with less that perfect results.

I contacted several painters for estimates. Most were referals from friends and neighbors. My priorities were; timing with my schedule, price, and security. I did not plan to be home while the job was being done. None of the friends’ or neighbor’s referrals ever showed for the estimate. My only Angie List call was to Nick. He responded timely with an estimate that met my expectations and personal schedule. He arrived timely to begin work and was completed 6 hrs later. After he was done with the walls, I no longer had to hang pictures over the repairs to cover up the ‘pancake’s’ unevenness. He drapped the entire house protecting trim, furnature, floors, and carpets, before starting. I came home to a spotless floor. I was delighted with his work and will definitely use him again and refer him to friends.

Nick was awesome. We had four painters quote our job. While Nick wasn't the absolute lowest price, he was reasonably priced, and had some great suggestions. Painting the whole house was a big job, it took about seven days. He prepped all the surfaces, and got absolutely no paint on the trim. He does excellent quality work. In a couple of rooms, he needed to apply three coats because a light color was going over a dark color. He made sure all the walls were immaculate when he was finished. We were having some other work done around the house, and he patiently patched and painted any holes or marks that the other contractors made. Nick should definitely be on your very short list of folks to call if you need a painter. Nick doesn't look to make any money on the paint itself, so you can work with him to pick the paint that will work best for you. He'll even show you the receipt with his discount. We used the brand-new Natura paint from Benjamin Moore. It has absolutely NO odor and zero VOC - so he can paint your entire upstairs and you can still sleep comfortably that night! If you're getting the interior of your house painted, be sure to ask him about the Natura paint. It costs a bit more, but it's worth every cent.

Nick painted our house in Dec.'08 right before the holidays. One of the colors I picked for the bedroom was not what I envisioned at all it was way too bright, potential disaster was averted when Nick suggested that we tone down the color using some of the leftover trim paint and it was exactly what was needed the color turned out to be what I was envisioning in the first place. I could not have been more pleased with the work that Nick did for us. What took him four days to do would have taken us weeks!
