Naperville Chimney Sweeps

I hired this company to provide a flue and chimney video inspection to see if I needed one or two liners. They said they provide photos and video footage of the two flues plus a video of the top of the roof to see the integrity of the chimney cap and tuckpointing. I received no video for the two flues or the chimney top and no photos after I paid them $550, until I complained and then they sent me around 12 photos total--unlabelled. They said they lost the furnace liner video. They said the flue liner video was unavailable because it was too large of a file but later sent it when I complained online. They found mortar obstructions in my furnace flue but did not place that fact in their report or take it into account when quoting the job. Luckily, I had a guy who was able to do the liner, but I was not even able to give him the video or the photos before he began the job, because they were so delayed providing the results. They were quite rude when I asked them why they had "lost" the photos and the video. My guess is they intentionally "lose" documents if a customer does not use them for something additional after the inspection.

This is a company maned by off-duty firemen and they really know their business. The cleaned the inside of built up creosote, checked for crack in the masonry both inside and out, checked the chimney cap, mortar and brickwork, and then asked about our smoke detectors and fire extinguisher. We have used them for years and will NEVER hire anyone else.

He looked in and said it was clean so he went up there and fixed the wiring on the top. They also do home inspection service because they are fire fighters. They check the fire alarm and the fire extinguisher.

The guys at Naperville Chimney Sweeps were punctual and very professional. As a wood burning fireplace novice, the original call was for an inspection and cleaning. Previous owner had only ever used natural gas, and as such, there was nothing to clean. They performed an inspection, offered pointers on converting the FP to full wood burning w/ gas assist and provided a plethora of great fire safety/readiness advice. Definitely our sweeps for the long haul!

I would definitely recommend this company for cleaning and inspecting your fireplace. They are always on time, friendly and very professional. I personally feel extremely confident knowing a professional fireman is inspecting and cleaning the fireplace. It somehow makes me feel safer about my fireplace. They also provide additional safety tips about your fire/smoke/carbon detectors, emergency exits and where best to keep a fire extinguisher. This year the noticed roofing shingles starting to curl by the chimney chase and provided me with a reputable name of company that might be able to assist with repairs. I have used this company for several years, plan to continue and would definitely recommend!

The guys called ahead of time and were able to come early to the appointment which was great for me. They installed the chimney cap on the exterior of the house and then came inside to inspect the fireplace. Since I'm a new homeowner, they also went through how to use our gas logs and cleaned the logs off a bit and rearranged them for best performance. This was very helpful to me! They also showed me the gas valve in the crawl space downstairs so I know how to turn that off in emergencies as well and provided other fire safety tips.

The people from Naperville Chimney Sweeps Inc were very professional and they provided excellent service. They gave me an estimate beforehand and I paid up the exact amount.

We had to wait one week for their services as they only sent out workers on Wednesday, this being their summer schedule. The two workers that came out were off duty firefighters. They were courteous, professional and answered all the questions I had. All work was done outside....they brought their ladder, climbed onto the roof, and installed a wire screen around the furnace flue. The installation of the screen took approximately 1/2 hour. Glad to report that we have not had problems with birds in our basement since then.

We have an unusual flute. We somehow got it stuck open. Naperville Chimney Sweeps came the day we called them. They fixed the flute and showed us how to work it properly. They also installed a chimney cap. They were wonderful to work with!

The servicemen were very friendly and professional. One man swept the chimney while the other held the vacuum (to ensure I didn't get a lot of airborne ash in my family room). I believe the caulk job could've been neater-- but eventually the soot from my fires should mask the black lines. It was exceptionally cold and icy out, so I was pleasantly surprised that one of the men would inspect the exterior and install a cap for me. After performing the repairs, they answered a bunch of other fire-related safety questions I had. Because they're off-duty firemen, I felt very comfortable that their work was making my home more fire-safe.

Naperville Chimney Sweeps provided an honest assessment of our chimneys and advised that only one of the two needed to be cleaned. They also advised how to install screening on one.

Great experience. Although the price I was quoted was $119 for cleaning each fireplace (to which I had agreed), I was thrilled when they determined after inspecting each fireplace that neither needed to be cleaned, and they only charged us $50.00 for the inspection. They just as easily could have cleaned the fireplaces (even if they didn't need it) and charged us the full price. Nice to find a reputable company that doesn't take your money just because it can. After having my chimney inspected by another company which resulted in estimates of over $1800 in repairs and a claim that my chimney was unusable, I had Naperville Chimney Sweeps out for a second opinion. Jim's honest assessment of my chimney's condition saved me over $1200 in unnecessary repairs. Jim did not use high pressure tactics on the work he recommended (unlike the other company) and completed the job in a timely fashion. Also note his prices are very competitive. If you need chimney repair/maintenance services Naperville Chimney Sweeps definitely has to be on your list.

They were very professional and friendly and gave us great tips for caring for our fireplace. I will be using them next year when we need a cleaning.

They were very responsive and on time. The workers did a thorough job of cleaning as well as making recommendations on how often to do it and how to avoid smoke back up in house. Since they are firemen they also checked our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. I highly recommend them.

They are all off duty fireman. The first time they assessed everything which is great because the know what to look for because they are fireman.

Jim and Drew were the firefighters who came to the house. They were prompt, professional, friendly and polite. They really took the time to explain what they were doing and how to best maintain the fireplace and chimney. They were also very neat--they left no trace of soot or dirt on our white living room carpet! Since we were new to the house, they also gave me some useful information about the smoke detectors and fire escape plans. Overall, a very positive experience.

Two Naperville firefighters came out, on time. They were very personable and reasonably priced. They were also very willing to answer other fire-related questions.

BOTH OF THE GENTLEMEN WHO CAME OUT WERE VERY COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM WE REPORTED AS BEING SOLVABLE BY PREHEATING THE FLUE WITH OUR GAS STARTER. I SUBSEQUENTLY TESTED THEIR HYPOTHESIS AND FOUND IT TO WORK AS THEY HAD SAID. I WAS ONLY SORRY THAT THEY DID NOT DISCOVER SOMETHING THAT WAS IN THEIR PURVIEW AS IT WAS MY IMPRESSION THAT THEY WOULD HAVE DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB.
