Scheduling the appointment was ok, but when he came to the house he barely spent any time looking it over. It seemed like he had made up his mind about the value even before properly evaluating. When we ultimately received a copy of his report, it had many mistakes. He had incorrect square footage for the house - was off by 350 sq. ft. and he completely missed a room upstairs, missed a fireplace (which yes he later did correct), had the wrong zoning for the property, labeled new construction as "C2" yet called it "new construction" in his description, listed the upgraded higher-end finishes but still used a "Q2" for quality of construction, comps were way off as well. Basically, it seemed like he adjusted the appraisal on the subject house to fit the comps he could find instead of doing the legwork required to find proper comps. It would be one thing if this was the only appraisal on the house, but there were two others done during and immediately after construction so there was good prior appraisal history. John's appraisal was 35% below both of the prior appraisals and all were done within a matter of several months. When I called him to discuss these deficiencies with the appraisal, he basically hung up on me. DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

I didn?t have a good experience with him. On the day, and at the time, of the appointment, I received a phone call that he was lost and that he didn?t know where the place was. I didn?t get the call until after he had gotten there. We had to wait quite a bit before he arrived on the scene. He didn?t take pictures. As soon as he saw the place, he had it in his mind that it was a tear-down and that he wasn?t going to go too far in depth with the appraisal. He promised to have the results within a week but I had to remind him 2 weeks later, via email, on at least two occasions. We had to go back and forth to get the results as soon as possible. He didn?t deliver the goods, so to speak. He also charged us tremendous amount of money compared to other appraisals that we had had on the property. When the house first went up for the estate, the appraisal was about $250, while he charged us over $400. I wouldn?t use him again.
