Tom and his crew showed up on time and did solid work. The paint we picked was a low volatility interior paint, and it seemed to have coverage problems. The Gizmo guys put 3 full coats on the walls, and had to do extra work on some freshly patched drywall. We also asked them to replace the baseboard molding rather than cover it, as it was already in bad shape. Plus they removed old paint spots from custom shelving we had in the living room. Despite all of this extra work the actual job price was very reasonable and not to far from the original estimate, despite the extras.

I called and explained that I needed some drywall replaced in my family room and in the laundryroom, and garage. The gentelman received a phone call excused himself took the call ( I have no probelm with that) took some notes said that could also to other repair spots in the garage drywall. Took down my email address to send the estimate BUT I never receive one. So no I would not call them back in for any other jobs. There are to many others that are willing to do the work.

Tom and his crew work quickly, and are very pleasant to deal with. The work looks nice, and he threw in a few extra jobs (fixing a door hinge, hanging a towel bar) for free. This is the second time we have used Gizmos, and we are very happy with the work they have done for us.

I have had a very good experience with Gizmo's. Today he came out to give me an estimate and he told me that he could just do the work while he was out, which I thought was great. I like that he came out very promptly. I was impressed by his service.

The work was performed well and very quickly. The insulation and drywalls of my 3 cars garage was ready in less than a day.

I called Tom when the door came in and he picked it up. He and his crew replaced the door in about 5 hours. They also nailed down some window trim that was coming loose. Both the inside and outside were finished beautifully. They cleaned up very well. I will call them again.

Tom is my guy for any future home maintenance or improvement needs.

He came to my home and looked at the job. He didn't ask many questions. He said he would send me an estimate in the mail. 2 1/2 weeks went by and I didn't receive an estimate. I called him and he said he would get it in the mail that night. I still haven't receive it. I think it was disrespectful. It was very unacceptable. He should have atleast been polite enough to tell me if he didn't do that type of work.

Tom came out and gave us an estimate. He then lowered the price $100 because he was able to use some materials he already had in his shop. The crew was out early the morning we contracted them to come, and finished in just a couple hours. They cleaned up after themselves, and did a nice job. We are very happy with the work they did.

One of the handymen (Tom, I believe) came over to look at projects I wanted completed, including a bathroom, foyer and garage drywall/tiling work. He said he would give me an estimate within a week. 8 days later, I called and asked about my estimate. He sounded busy and told me he would call back at a better time. He never did.

Tom was prompt and professional in quoting estimates for all the work I wanted done. Several other contractors never got back to me or were so unprofessional I would never use them. His pricing for my garage door work and electrical work was right in the ball park from other companies that specialized in garage doors or electrical work. But with Gizmo's I was able to get one company to do all the work for a competitive price. And they did it on time and with good workmanship. Tom is a real gentleman, very professional and an exception for the field that he is in.

Every thing was done in a timely and professional manner and Tom made sure that I knew what was going on at all times. The workers took care of protecting my property while they worked and cleaned up afterwards. Robert, the painter, was just all you could ask for. He did a great job, was polite and really took great care.

I emailed on Thursday and got a call back from Tom on Friday. We set up a time on Monday to get an estimate. He called a few minutes before he was due and said he had overbooked but would be at my home within the hour and he was. He replaced the water line to my ice maker on the fridge. He was very professional and cleaned up afterwards. He was respectful to my home. He gave me an estimate on another job I am considering.

Great work. Tom was very helpful and honest about what needed to be done with the siding. He recommended that all the siding in the general area be reattached to tighten up the work rather than just replacing the two large pieces that were blown off. He was willing to do the lesser work for a cheaper price, but wouldn't guarantee that the problem wouldn't happen again. He noticed the shutter issue, and told me that we would take care of it as well.

I called Tom and set up an appointment to go over some work I needed done and he set up a time for the following week. He was friendly, on-time and listened carefully to what I needed done. I told him what I wanted to do and he made some suggestions about lighting for my kitchen. I was a little hesitate at first, but decided to go with his ideas and I am so glad I did. He scheduled a work date and he and his workers arrived on time and worked hours on end. They were careful with my items and cleaned up after themselves each day before they left. Tom's suggestions really helped update my kitchen and I love what they have done. I am so satisfied with his work that he is coming back to paint my house inside and out, as well as do other work for me. It sounds a little crazy, but he felt like family and my dog loved having him around. I am so glad that I found Gizmo's on Angie's list and I highly recommend to anyone.

It was great. I am so happy with all of the work that he did. They floors are beautiful. Tom went and got them. He even had to several places because we installed so much. They had to sit in the house to acclimate. The furniture was moved carefully. It was a problem because I have so much furniture and there wasn't much space to put it all, but I was impressed with them and they did a great job.

The owner, Tom, is personable, reliable, and very professional. He came by when he said he would, and did everything asked of him, and more. I've used handyman services before from Angie's list and have generally been pleased with the results, however, Gizmo's work and service attitude stand head and shoulders above anyone I've used before. I was exceedingly pleased with the results, and having been able to make a contact I know I can count on for future work should I need it.

We had a leaking PVC pipe in our ceiling, which was causing water marks on the drywall. The contractor offered a flat rate, compared to an hourly rate, which saved us money. He was very honest about the problem, which was simply a poor glue job when the house was constructed, and explained that he did not need any extra parts. After they fixed the pipe, the same workers replaced the drywall; taped and mudded, then even painted it, and it looks as good as new. They even enjoyed the company of our dog.

Great! Tom was very helpful picking out the color by bringing large sample pieces to the house. The quality of the products used was excellent and made in the USA!!! Tom and his crew have a great work ethic. They work hard and they work long hours.They cleaned up every night even though it was well past super time. Weather was a bit of a problem but they worked through it. The final week could have gone a little better with all the little things left to do. Tom got right on that and finished it up. When he saw I wasn't happy with the condition of the front door (it was pretty beaten up) he immediately had it repainted. It looked great. I felt I had a whole new house.

Tom was incredible. First, he is extremely punctual. I sent him a email at 8pm one night and he called me back within 20 minutes. I sent him a email on sunday morning before 7am and he responded quickly. When I called he answers. He is a complete professional. He quoted my job one day and did everything within budget the following day. He had to order one part and he came back right as scheduled when it arrived.

I must admit I am a hard to please customer. I warned Tom prior to the job I expect nothing less of perfection. It took three days to complete but the job exceeded even my standards. I highly recommend this contractor and will definitely use again.

Very professional from initial email query to follow up to actual meeting. Called to give us updated time estimate, was right on time, excellent manner.

This did not go well. I am the sole family and caregiver for a disabled elderly stroke member and could not be without the faucets working. I was having issues with the single lever faucet riding up in back & down in front when shutting off and it had been worsening in this manner for more than 6 weeks. Gizmo's owner showed up on time, was initially pleasant, but proceeded to vigorously move the kitchen faucet handle up and down for an inspection.This same type of quick travel action, or movement (though much less vigorous), had resulted in the connector inside the handle breaking and needing replaced about a year ago. The Gizmo's owner had not recognized the brand trademarked identification of my faucets. The bath faucets were each tested in a similar vigorous fashion to the kitchen. Generally this created a very poor impression as I knew this was not how a licensed and practicing plumber investigated potential lever/valve problems. The Gizmo owner abruptly got ready to leave and said he would be in touch with particulars. I never heard back from him though I waited for ten days. I looked up the registered and licensed plumbers for DuPage county and neither Gizmo's or the owner were listed. On 5/28/09 I decided instead to call in a licensed and registered plumber from the DuPage County web-site. I had a call back that afternoon, an appointment the following afternoon and in one hour had all of the faucets operating as smooth as silk again and all were perfectly repaired for a very low price. I will never contact the Gizmo's for anything ever again.

Everything was great! The furniture was carefully moved and the prep work was excellent. They removed all electrical outlet covers instead of painting over them, and carefully replaced the furniture. It looked great. I felt I had a whole new house.
