The unit is old so that didn't surprise me. The additional cost for the part and install was not a big deal. The A/C ran great all summer.

Description of Work: The company installed a Carrier humidifier on our Carrier furnace. The technician (Scott) was professional and explained the procedure. He also offered, at additional cost, the installation of an automatic sensor that would regulate the humidifier, as opposed to manually. We opted to have the sensor installed. The entire process took under 3 hours.

Description of Work: One night I discovered I had a problem that water was dripping down through the furnace from the air conditioner condenser coil in the plenum above the furnace. I called GFI the next morning and was told they would have a representative out to my house that afternoon. He was available earlier than they expected but I was still at work, so he made another stop first and was still at my house when the appointment was scheduled. He took one look and diagnosed the problem as a clogged condensate line. He unclogged the line and then, at my request, gave the furnace a quick inspection to make sure the water hadn't damaged any components of the furnace. He was very courteous, punctual and the price was reasonable. I will probably call them back in the fall to inspect and clean the furnace before the next heating season.

Description of Work: We have NEVER had a problem with this unit and NEVER needed this unit serviced but, after after 20 years, thought we should have it checked it out. Coolant was added and various small repairs recommended totaling, all in, around $300. Ten days later the A/C unit completely broke down and needed to be replaced. Given its age we replaced not only the A/C unit, but furnace also - $5800 we were NOT expecting. NO warning was provided by this contractor and we did not call them for the estimate on the new system. Perhaps I am overly suspicious, but I find it very odd that a totally functional unit broke down for the first time and required total replacement less than 2 weeks after the visit.

Description of Work: The work is good and the price is fair. The technician who performed the work offered me a "maintenance" package for around $200/year. It included two maintenance (heating and air conditioning) services. I dd not go with them as many HVAC companies offer $49 ~ $69 per service.
