Years ago, I had utilized Energy Services for my heating and a/c needs, plus had them clean and seal my air ducts. Got away from them and tried various competitors. Recently returned to them because they were the most-reasonably priced, fairest-priced, for 30 pt furnace inspection and cleaning. Great experience and they earned my business for the future. I purchased one of their deals for each of my furnaces, $59.95, for a furnace inspection and cleaning. After my purchase, a person from their company telephoned me to schedule an appointment for them to do their service. She was very polite and professional. I couldn't schedule an appointment because I was driving and didn't have my calendar. She followed up and called me again in a few days. I scheduled the appointment. The tech to inspect and clean furnace called me an hour before he was to arrive to assure me he'd be there at the time promised. He did arrive as scheduled. He wore booties over his shoes while in my house. He inspected and cleaned my furnace in a orderly and timely manner. I watched what he was doing because I was curious and like to learn. He didn't mind I hovered over him and answered any questions I asked. He was also very polite and professional. He finished his inspection and clean, cleaned up and packed his equipment, and pleasantly left my house. Because of the pricing, the scheduler, the service tech, the service, Energy Services earned my business. I will call them again should I have furnace and/or air conditioning needs. I encourage others to give Energy Services, Naperville, a try.

Serviceman, Aaron, arrived as scheduled and was very pleasant and professional. This service was performed on a gas furnace in a town home my daughter just purchased (not moved yet). Aaron inspected the unit and gave me information on the age of the unit (22 years!) and gave me inintial readouts showing the furnace was operating at 93% efficiency. He discovered a blockage in the water drain system that apparently was intermittantly preventing ignition. He worked a lot clearing this blockage and in the process an old plastic fitting was broken. After talking to his office, Aaron proposed that Energy Services would give a 50% discount on the cost of a replacement part (since they had broken it, but allowing for the age of the part). I felt this was a very fair solution. In addition, the Parts Manager called Aaron and said they would drop off the replacement OEM part so it could be installed before he finished the service call. At the end of the call Aaron provided a very detailed written report and suggested that my daughter start saving for a new furnace rather than spend for any major repairs. We will be asking Energy Services (along with 1 or 2 others) for a quote on a new furnace and air conditioner.

The day after the cleaning, our furnace began to rattle. They said it was a "Blower Wheel", but claimed it was not related to the cleaning/inspection. Prior to the cleaning, the furnace and A/C had worked fine with zero problems for well over a year since a previous failed blower wheel replacement. System is top of the line Carrier Infinity only 2 years old and still in warranty. Energy Services sent a tech the next day to troubleshoot. Resolved the rattle with an "adjustment", but stated that they would not replace this part again under warranty unless we implemented previous suggestions for upgrades of the supply duct work and a new 2-stage A/C unit. They said high back pressure was causing the problem. After he left, the thermostat began to report malfunctions. They send out someone else the next day. This tech felt the issue was instead because of the return duct work and demonstrated why. The company expert again told us that we needed a new A/C unit and various duct and hardware upgrades amounting to $10,000 to resolve the issues they found. I was having trouble sorting through all the conflicting information, so I contacted Carrier, but they were of no help. I contacted a second dealer (Fire N Ice) who thought the information I was given sounded fishy, especially regarding the need for a new A/C after summer was over. They came out to troubleshoot the malfunctions that continued to happen; there were hundreds of them in the log. He said the malfunction trips were not due to high back pressure, which was apparently somewhat high but within limits, but instead was high temperature. The second dealer's tech did some sort of recalibration and changed some software settings on the unit to increase airflow somewhat. We also found the previous dealer had mangled my new filter to the point to where it was destroyed. The second dealer also suggested a lower quality replacement filter that might improve airflow slightly as well. Whatever the second dealer did exactly, we have had no more issues in almost a month. Given all the conflicting opinions, I was skeptical about spending another $10K to "fix" a system that cost almost $10K just 2 years ago. I'm guessing some of the upgrade advice was legitimate, but it's not real clear given the all the differences of opinion even from the technicians at Energy Services. Either way, I know it worked well for over a year before the checkup and has been working well for over a month after the second dealer re-adjusted it. I'm still not sure who was right or wrong, so I can't give a lower grade, but always get a second opinion! Sadly in my case that second opinion was over $150 in labor charges, plus $25 for another filter to replace the destroyed one and I will lose a prepaid tuneup at Energy Services since I will be using the second dealer for tune-ups, but that is a lot cheaper than $10K! Update: Over a year later. Not one thermostat warning, other than to replace the filter. Only one issue since the second dealer serviced our system. On the last routine service visit a few months ago, I noticed the same original rattle sound as we went to the furnace, but at a lower volume. I assumed it was a "Blower Wheel" starting to fail again. Nope. The technician found a couple screws had loosened. He tightened them, problem solved. Just. Wow.

This company's service and responsiveness has gone down the drain. Not worth the headache even with Angie's List deal. A summary of my issues with this company are: I have a one year old furnace that maybe seven years old. I have a one year old furnace that I should replace. I have a broken humidifier that is actually not broken. I should buy the yearly maintenance package to get 'priority service calls', although they arrived at 6:45PM and 3 hours late on another service call. Is anyone willing to risk a third time with this company in their home? The details below: I originally bought an Angie's List deal from them in Nov. 2013 to get a furnace check-up. The tech came out and sold me on the yearly maintenance package. The work was done on time. I then received a call in Spring from their customer service that I needed to schedule my a/c check-up. That was a good reminder and everything went according to plan. Then... My furnace had an issue in September 2014 (while still under the maintenance package). I was told no problem they will come out and take a look. Tech came out (right at the end of the 4 hour window) and indicated that we needed to replace some electrical switches and he had to order the part which would come in a few weeks. He was able to clean the parts well enough for the furnace to run in the meantime. *We were then told we should replace our one year old furnace for a different model based on our home (?) - no thanks. Again they attempted to up-sell us on the yearly package. I then call to make the ensuing appointment. I get an appointment in October on a Friday between 12-5 (I take off work). I wait. I call at 2PM, I am told 3-3:30PM. They call at 4PM and say 'do you want to reschedule, the tech might not be out until closer to 5' - no I do not want to reschedule. I wait. I call at 5:30 - the office is closed. I am connected to the emergency line. Tech finally comes at 6:45PM - 7:15PM. *Then has the nerve to say "we will give you $30 off the yearly membership where you will get "priority service calls". I call and speak to the service manager the following Monday. He apologizes and says I cannot get a refund on the work that has been done, but they can offer a furnace cleaning at no cost. He agrees to a Saturday in November - "first appointment" between 8-9AM. That November Saturday rolls around. I wait. I finally call at 9:15AM and are connected to a call center who has no idea what I am talking about. I receive a call back from the emergency line, who says 'we are really busy and normally calls are between 8-12, I will try to figure it out but we do not have your appointment in our system.' I am then called by the tech at 10:30 saying that he has a few other houses before me, but hopefully he can be there by 12, but he did speak with the service manager who apologized again. Tech arrives at 11:45, does the furnace cleaning. Explains that my furnace is 7 years old, is currently out of warranty and that we should really upgrade to a new furnace. In addition, there is a broken water valve to the humidifier and the humidifier is not working. I asked to see what he was talking about since his company fixed the humidifier in Nov. 2013. We then turned the humidifier ON and everything was working fine.

I bought the $59.00 deal for furnace tune up and assessment with free carbon monoxide test. The repairman arrived on time after calling to tell me he was on the way. He was very polite, covered his shoes upon entering the house. He changed the batteries on the thermostat, reset the time, offered to reprogram the thermostat but I declined. He then proceeded to the furnace where he changed the filter, took out the burners, cleaned and inspected everything, told me that the furnace was 17 years old and the ignitor was very worn and needed to be replaced, $130.00 more. He also asked about any hot/cold spots in the house and checked the ductwork to make sure everything was open and flowing. Checked for carbon monoxide. He said everything else looked good. Took about 70 minutes. I was pleased but I gave them a B for price because I believe the prices for the ignitor (which he installed) and a quote for two different types of humidifiers, were a little high. For that reason I might look elsewhere for service next time.
Description of Work: checked and cleaned furnace, adjusted gas pressure, replaced ignitor.

Over the weekend our furnace broke and we knew we wanted an estimate on a new one. We called at 8am on a Monday morning and they came by later that morning. They were very quick to respond and provided an estimate via email within a couple of hours. Keith was very professional and thorough in his work. While we didn't end up going with their service, we have no complaints and would recommend them.

They responded quickly and showed up on time. He came out and did what he could to fix the problem on the initial visit but wasn't able to resolve the problem. WOW...what service. We lost heat on a frigid Sunday morning. Energy Services were here within an hour of my call, giving us a temporary fix. Two days later they installed a new furnace, and because our air conditioner was over 23 years old, we opted to have both units replaced. We did take the time to obtain another quote and knew we were getting a great deal. This is the company to deal with in the Naperville area for heating and cooling needs! Thanks Energy Services!

The HVAC provider noted some deterioration in the heat ducts, especially next to the furnace unit! He suggested repair because it allowed heat to escape. Then the representative sold me a duct cleaning package that he said would include the duct repair. I asked how long this person had worked for this company. He proudly told me that he has been employed there for 14 years and the company has been in this business for over 70 years. David Beam presented his card and told me to call him if there were any issues in December when the two men come to do duct vacuuming.. He told me what was included, such as the driver vent. He put notes in his hand held computer regarding the need to patch the hole in the duct near the furnace. Unfortunately they were booked into December, for the duct cleaning. I decided that I liked the way this young man did business. So I am waiting for the duct cleaning, even though I probably can find a better price with another HVAC company. There are so many options. David Beam was a very fine representative for this Energy Services Company.
Description of Work: The HVAC company was contacted through Angie's List to provide a pre-season check on my furnace. I did recognize the name from the previous year. The company representative vacuumed the necessary areas of the unit and checked the necessary parts for proper functioning this Winter. He then sold me a duct cleaning package.

service man called salesman to come out that same day, and was at our house by 5:00. decided on a furnace, and they could have installed it the next morning, but we had to delay till the following day. Installer showed up on time, removed old furnace, removed dead birds in chimney, ordered new chimney cap, redid all chimney piping in basement, and corrected existing humidifier drains. Work was done on time, clean-up complete, and whole area left better than before. The installation was extremely professional, neat and clean, and would call them back with any other HVAC or water heater issues.
Description of Work: initial call was that the furnace was not working. came out on service call - induction fan not working. inspected the whole furnace and found out that the heat exchanger was cracked (21 year old). got an estimate for repair and approximate cost for new furnace.

First of all, I highly recommend the purchase of their yearly maintenance plan that entitles the customer to 1 air conditioning and 1 furnace maintenance check.. The time spent by the technicians to clean and perform diagnostics on the units for all critical parts such as motors, coils, capacitors, Freon levels, heat exchanger, etc. is well worth the money. My furnace & A/C unit is 17 years old, so with the average life being 15-17 years, I need to begin to think about replacement options. David (Technician) provided me with 3 replacement /options/quotes which is great, but....the main value he provided was to inform me of the different equipment functionality, components, performance ratings and other information I should be aware of when I ask for quotes from other companies so that I get an apples-to-apples comparison. He did an excellent job of informing me and representing his company. He also offered to return after I had received competitor quotes in order to ensure I was quoted for the correct equipment. As a homeowner, a large purchase such as this requires me to obtain comparable quotes. If all quotes were comparable with Energy Services A/C & Heating Co being somewhat higher, I'd pay the premium and use this company because of my past positive experiences.
Description of Work: Furnace blower motor would not turn off after heating cycle had completed. Service technician, David, diagnosed a bad relay component on the printed circuit board. He did not have a circuit board replacement on the truck and said it would have to be ordered. However, when David returned to the shop he found one in inventory and called me to see if he could return and install the new circuit board. He completed the repair quickly and the furnace was functioning perfectly!
