Wilson Home Restorations

Four years ago I was looking for Sunrise windows but couldn't find an installer that I liked. This year, I called up the manufacturer and they gave me Wilson Home Restorations name and location. I called them. Jim Wilson, the owner, was great, and the installers were very good also. There was a little work that needed to be completed, after their installation and within a week Jim Wilson had the painter out to finish, and he brought a couple of screens that needed work. He wouldn't even let me pay the remaining balance until all the work was completed. I feel like I can trust him. Before I purchased Jim gave me a three page list of people who had purchased the same Sunrise brand of windows in the past year from him. He gave me some phone numbers of his customers and they gave him glowing reviews. One homeowner even invited me to come out and see their windows and doors that his company installed. I would have him do other work for me, if he can. I'd recommend him to other people looking for windows, since he carries several manufacturers. His company also re-designs the exteriors of homes including siding and roofing.

Jim was responsive until we found out the roofing job he did for us was installed without ANY venting. After having water seeping through our ceilings, we found out thru insurance inspection that our new roof had no vents installed and black mold had developed all over our attic. This required an entire roof tear off down to the trusses, removal and replacement of all insulation and roof reinstallation. Thanks to Jim’s crummy work we spent another $15k - much of which wasn’t covered by insurance. Jim has since ditched the name of his old company called Wilson Colonial and created a new company called Wilson Restorations to hide from claims against him. Needless to say Jim was not responsive to our requests for financial restoration . Be careful.

We are very pleased with the products, the workmanship, and the ease of this whole process. We would hire Wilson again and will recommend them to anyone needing their service.

We worked primarily with Scott who was very thorough, prompt, and punctual throughout the entire process. We initially asked that he just quote the first floor windows and upon seeing the quote decided to replace our roof and a couple of doors with them as well. The price was very reasonable, especially considering we had received quotes from other window companies in the past. Scheduling was very easy with Chris in the office who called as soon as there were clear days to start the work. The work was done quickly and our house looks great - it made a huge difference. We've received many compliments from our neighbors and would definitely use them again for other projects in the future!

We were looking for new siding, soffit and fascia for our home and Jim came out to give us a quote. We felt that he truly understood the scope of what we were looking for which we did not feel that the other contractors who gave us bids did. The pricing was extremely competitive and fair. We added a few custom details, stained wood ceiling over the porch and replacing the wrought iron porch support with a real post. They were able to handle those with ease as part of the project. The installation crew was very professional and courteous, answered all of our questions as they went along, were careful of all the plants in the yard and did a great job of cleaning up every day they were working here. You would be hard pressed to find this level of service from most other contractors. Thanks.

They were perfect. They were fast and super efficient. They charge by hour. They were really quick. Very pleasant to work with . They were very reasonable. Always on-time. I would use them them again very soon. They are the best!

Jim Wilson measured and explained everything about the windows and talked about my best option. He ordered them and he came before the schedule for the service. He held the window till it was time to do the work. The workmen are absolutely fantastic. This is the second service and I am considering a third project with them. If I could give an A+ I would.

Overall it was extremely positive. From the time Jim came out to do the estimate, he was knowledgeable, helped out the most with understanding the technologies. We went with a medium to high-end window and his pricing was competitive and favorable. From the installation standpoint, we had to reschedule a couple of times due to weather, but his staff was open with scheduling. They kept in contact often regarding scheduling changes. The installation team was very open on what they were doing and when. After the first round of installation, we had some questions because it looked like there were some errors. Jim came out to look at it and it was resolved quickly.

They are very responsive, priced competitive, and are flexible. We've used them for 20 years; we've been speaking to the same guy for all that time so I really like their continuity.

On all projects, I had gotten multiple bids only to find out that Wilson Home Restoration delivers competitive prices, high quality products, and superior installation. A builder once told me ?you can buy the best material available, but if it doesn?t get installed properly you wasted your money?. WHR installers are neat, clean, and display high-end quality craftsmanship. Jim Wilson is very knowledgeable and guides you through the process and gives alternative suggestions on your home improvement projects.

The project went well from start to finish. They were courteous and professional and very tidy at the end of each day. No mess was left to deal with. Wilson would contact me through email and in person to make sure that I was happy during and after the job. Overall, I am happy and would use them again for other projects. This is actually my second time using them. They did soffit work on my home 25 years ago! So they are still here as a business so that says a lot about them as a company!

Called Jim Wilson in the morning. He returned my call several hours later and was out to provide an estimate two days later. Said they could probably start the job the week on June 5th. The work was completed May 31st. The workmen put all the patio furniture and other stuff back exactly as they found it. Hasn't rained yet but I'm anticipating the quality of the work will match the up front experience.

I rated Wilson Home Restorations with a B instead of an A due to the timing of when the work was to begin. I signed a contract the beginning of October and asked for the work to be complete by the end of November. Scott Morrison was my sales rep. He was very polite, prompt to appointments and very professional. The price was right, and the installers were pleasant. The work completed was done well. However, when my desired finish date was getting close, I contacted Scott, only to hear they were not going to be able to meet my deadline. I was disappointed and let him know. But I was actually more disappointed that the communication regarding this delay had been almost non-existent. Wilson Home Restorations was a great company to use for the work needed. I would use them again.

Everything went well. The crew arrived on time, and did a great job installing the new door. They had to modify the opening and add to the outside of the door as our exterior walls are six inches thick. They cleaned up when finished. All we had to do was a light dusting. We used this company in the past to replace many windows in a different house. We would not hesitate to call them again.

Contracted for 15 (depending on how you count) full window replacements with Wilson Exteriors. Jim (the owner) came to our home on two occasions to show us custom vinyl windows manufactured by Sunrise windows ? made in the Midwest for over 20 years with a lifetime warranty. We were also considering Gilkey windows as well, but the Sunrise appeared to be a comparable, if not superior, product. We also appreciated Jim?s sales approach ? no high pressure or hype. He was very confident in the product he was showing and was very direct about why he offers this product. Based on Angie?s List review (as well as several direct testimonials from well known friends) we selected Wilson (and Sunrise) for the job. I expected a smooth installation experience and was not disappointed, Wilson?s team showed up on time and cleaned up daily. Installation was seamless. Zero difficulties. Will favorably consider Wilson Restorations for future projects. Thanks Jim!

I am very pleased with Wilson Home Restorations. Jim was prompt and even though my job was small and could have been viewed as a nuisance, he and the men who did the work were easy to deal with. Everything from the top down was done well and within the time frame that we agreed upon. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and I would certainly recommend them to a friend.

I've used Colonial before. They are professional and prompt. Price is fair for the excellent quality of the product and the installation work. The owner comes to discuss the project and will inspect the work during and after.

The original work was great. They gave good advice on what windows to use and the installation was excellent. We called a couple weeks ago because we need a repair. They came out that same morning and didn't charge us.

I could not be more pleased with the results of this job. From start to finish, Jim Wilson took care of my questions and concerns. This was the biggest job I've had done to my home since moving in, and I am so happy with my decision to use Wilson Home Restorations, and their Sunrise vinyl windows. The windows look great, and are a better quality than some of the other vinyl windows I have seen. The installation work was very good, the workers were prompt and friendly. Jim went above and beyond by ordering me a custom screen for an existing window that didn't come with a screen. He also had the existing casing replaced on a large window because the old casing was not level. It made the new window look perfect! I'll call them again when I save up enough money to get new siding.

Jim was very helpful and informative during the research and planning process. Installation was efficient and team was friendly. Price was good compared to other quotes we received and everything is great.

The window replacement crew showed up on time and completed the removal and replacement of all windows in about 8 hours. Wilson painted the windows to match our trim before they were installed and the painters showed up the day after the install to touch up the trim and rehang the blinds and draperies. Jim Wilson was very professional and easy to deal with. We had two minor issues with the window installation and he promptly addressed both issues to our satisfaction. He also seemed generally appreciative of our business and has a lot of satisfied customers in our neighborhood.

Our current gutters were not doing the job during these heavy rain storms that we seem to keep having. We had several gutter companies come out to assess the situation and help us to determine what we could do to fix the problem. Jim Wilson came out and listened to our situation. He also was told what we had done in the past. Every time we have a heavy rain, our gutters can't handle the rain. As a result, our sump pump has to pump out more water than it can handle and we end up with water in the basement. Jim helped us to determine how we could reroute the gutters and therefore, give our sump pump a break. We have had a couple big rains since the gutters have been installed and they work beautifully. Our sump hardly comes on at all anymore. We even went to check on the sump to make sure it was still working. These gutters have been a dream. We can now actually enjoy a rain storm instead of worrying how bad it will be for our basement.

We had just purchased the house and we knew that it needed some serious love. We started with the outside and were referred to Jim Wilson by Hanson Roofing. We are enjoying the look of the Hardie Board and the new roof is working great! The work was completed on time and budget and the team were very professional and did a good job with the clean up afterwards. The house is now nice and dry and looks great. The only item that would have been helpful would have been a recommendation for gutter guards to be installed with this project. We had a lot of folks on the project and working on our house for several weeks. Unfortunately, gutter guards were not recommended by anyone and that has caused me to have to spend this spring up on a ladder. It would have been a simple and helpful recommendation to make to a new homeowner that would have solved a problem before one was created.

I would hire them again. They did a nice job. They came out, did the work and picked up. I didn't have to do anything except pay them.
