Mike primed the rails the replaced them, but not the 2x4 post against the house. He told me with that as was leaving to go to work! The 4 issues evolved, one I found later and one as I was driving to go to work: 1) While heading out he driveway in my truck to go to work, Mike decided he wasn't going to replace the rotted cedar 2x4 (a real 2x4) against the house. His concern was water damage. I need to call my insurance. As I'm in my truck driving to work? Really? Why wasn't this brought up in the estimate? So Mike left me was a rotted post which he "bondo'ed" in and it started falling apart this spring/summer. I just replace the 2x4 myself this week. There was a little rot, but cleaned it up and ripped a 2x4 (real dimensions) and tarred and caulked it in place. 2) I asked what primer, water or oil based, was used so I could prime a second coat and paint the rail. He sent me an image of the can! Really? Fortunately, the front said water based so I knew what to tell the paint store to re-prime areas and paint it. 3) The caulked used to seal around the joints had all cracked, leaving the rail bottom open to water damage. I had to re-caulk it before priming and painting. 4) Finally, 2 of the rail tines were short by 1/8 inch showing a gap. I didn't notice that until I looked under the rail to prime it. Fortunately, caulk hid the poor workmanship. Overall, I would not recommend Mike to do such a job. The rails look nice after I caulked, primed and painted them. Now that I have the rotted post replaced myself against the side the house, it looks fine.
Description of Work: Cedar Porch railing and timbers on the second floor balcony were rotted and needed to be replaced.

Mike is a pleasant, professional carpenter. There were 3 rails averaging 6-7.5 foot long plus a rail which ran up the roof line. The issues with the job ranged from most important to least: 1) Last minute, on my way to work, he doesn't replace the 2x4 support rail against the house for fear of water damage. Instead Mike uses a bondo compound to replace the decay at the bottom of the post. I have no idea how long this will last. He said a professional roofer was needed. Really? Last minute as I'm heading to work? I put the floor in myself. I suspect he didn't wanted to deal with removing that from the house and possible issues forcing a return. 2) Some of the tines where too short between the rails. I found this upon priming and painting. Sloppy, unprofessional work. I caulked the gaps as my only option. 3) Instead of the of the 1x2 inch tines quoted, I got 2x2 inch tines. Not the end of the world, but not the same style as the bottom railing. 4) Large deck screws were used to secure it to the posts, leaving deep holes. This is not at all like the bottom. I chalked each opening, including the ones on top rail and screwed in the one missed tine. In the end, the type and quality was not what was expected. (He had the original and the bottom railing as a guide!) Fortunately, I was able to chalk, prime and paint the railing so the final result is an acceptable look. The difference between the upstairs and downstairs railing is not noticeable from the ground. Time will tell whether the short cut on leaving the post against the house will be an issue. Glad I did not have the lower railing done. It has have life in it and I'll find another contractor.
Description of Work: Replaced the cedar rail on the second floor porch.

However, Mike looked at my roof and other areas outside the house first. He helped me decide what type of window and what and quot;grade.and quot; I believe he was totally honest and went out of his way to help me. The day of the installation went perfectly. The installation was perfect and he left the room cleaner than he probably found it! I paid more than I wanted for the window and installation (don't we always), but I have no reason to believe the price wasn't fair. I would definitely use Mike Teramani again and recommend him to others. We love our new window.
Description of Work: I am relatively new to the area and had a leak in my kitchen ceiling. I looked at service providers on Angie's List and selected Mike to come inspect. We ended up replacing an upstairs window that we believe caused the leak over the kitchen.

The company owner came out to do an estimate and make measurements at the same time as the millwork and window vendor came. They talked over details, included me in the discussion and provided sound advice. As the project started, his crew stocked all the materials, took care of unloading the truck and did the job in about 3 days for each phase. I let them use the garage for staging area and tool storage during the project. They were respectful of the space. They cleaned up every day, inside and out and hauled their own trash. Everything has held up well through the first winter and start of a hot summer. I consider their work on our project to be excellent, and a good value for the money. Teramani Carpentry really did a great job for us.
Description of Work: We contracted with Teramani Carpentry to replace most of the windows on our 1950's split-level house. We replaced two giant picture windows with two merely huge ones. (Spending listed in this report does not include the windows, just labor and other materials.) We also replaced 6 large windows and a bay window. 9 windows total, smallest was 3' x 26", largest was 9' x 5'. The job was completed in two phases (our request). The first part was in the summer; the second phase in late Autumn.Teramani removed the old windows, framed in part of the openings to fit new windows, and completed the finish work after installing new windows. There was also a small roof section added on top of a bay window, and some masonry to deal with. The siding that was added was stained to match the rest of the house. The windows were trimmed inside and out. Drywall work was completed (mud and tape) on the new kneewalls under the big windows.

Mike is a great guy and he and his team did a fantastic job. He even covered an extra vent that we didn't notice during the estimate. Very honest and reliable contractor. This is the second time he has done work for us, and our neighbors have had positiver experiences as well. We would definitely work with him again.
Description of Work: Installed a new exterior window, framed and drywalled a new closet in our loft
Very, very well. While the kitchen took a little longer to complete, primarly due to essentially needing to gut the entire kitchen floor area, once the plumbing work was completed, the work proceeded right along. Mike Teramani's primary goal is the 100% satisfaction of his customer and we have always been very pleased with his results.
Description of Work: We experienced an old water softener fitting failure in a water pipe that proceeded to flood our kitchen, living room and dining room (slab, ranch style home) on Sunday morning. As we have had Teramani Carpentry & Service handle prior projects (new windows, sliding patio doors, along with several other smaller jobs), we called him for help. He immediately came over with his floor dryer and assisted me in tearing up the soaked carpeting and padding. He also drove me to the local Home Depot to rent a commercial dehumidifier....above and beyond the normal contractor effort. After getting everything dried out, we proceeded to assess with Mike Teramani our options to fix what the water had wrought! We have wood flooring in the kitchen and it was fairly evident that this needed to be replaced along with all the sub-floor. In summary, Teramani Carpentry performed the following services: 1. Removed all kitchen base cabinets 2. Removed all wood flooring and sub-flooring material in kitchen and entry hall 3. Removed living room carpet, padding, and tack strips 4. Removed dining room carpet and rolled for future cleaning 5. Removed dining room padding and tack strips. 6. Installed new vapor barrier and plywood sub-floor in kitchen, living room and dining room. The latter two rooms did not have vapor barrier/plywood previously....did this to minimize the transition height to the kitched flooring 7. Corrected the "hack-job" from the prior plumbing contractor that renovated the kitchen 20-years prior when only my iwfe owned the house by re-routing water lines, etc. and corrected what was previously the "under sink mess". 8. Installed new hardwood flooring in kitchen and entry hall 9. Installed new drywall in kitchen (back of main cabinet area) 10. Installed new electrical outlets and simplified wiring 11. Reinstalled all kitchen base cabinets 12. Helped move living room furniture, acted as our "agent" to oversee the the new living room carpet installation.
