I found this company and scheduled the work through the PODS website (which linked me to Hire-A-Helper). I saw the one negative review on them about the extra guy here on AL, but that was nearly 3 years old. Given they are still around, I decided to give them a try. I did have a little trouble getting confirmation of their arrival time, so I marked the Responsiveness as a B. It wasn't a problem that will prevent me from using them again when the remodel is complete. I will definitely use them to unload. Everything else was perfect. They moved everything as scheduled, 2 guys for 2 hours. That's a lot to move in that time. They are workers, for sure. They packed the POD very well. It was clear to me that they have experience in packing a container that will move. All in all, a very good deal. Experienced movers that show up on time and work hard. No damage to anything. I can't really say more than that. It's what I needed from moving company and it's what they delivered.
Description of Work: Moved boxed items and furniture out of my basement and loaded it into a POD for storage during a remodel. They filled a 12x8x8 container (over 700 cubic feet).

This company gave me an incorrect quote, they added a third person for the move and didn't tell me the hourly rate was higher until the end and I went to pay the bill which was a few hundered more than I was expecting. They also broke a $1000 dining room chair, which was quite new and put a hole in the arm of my leather recliner. The company refused to pay to have anything fixed and they left me very unprofessional messages about my requests to have my furniture fixed. Please, don't use this company.
Description of Work: They moved us out of our house and into a storage unit while our house was under construction.

HORRIBLE, UNRELIABLE, MISREPRESENTED, POOR MANAGEMENT, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Although this company received numerous positive reviews on other sites, it had only a single review on my trusted Angie?s List. I should?ve known . . . I had to coordinate a last-minute cross-country move including a piano in less than 48 hours. I downsized my 3 bedroom condo into a 14 foot U-Haul, but sought professional assistance to load the truck. I called and owner Stacey was happy to book it for the next morning. In fact, she was so helpful during the initial call that I asked if they also moved pianos. I already had professional piano movers scheduled, but thought it would be easier to use a single service. Stacey assured me that they moved pianos all the time. We discussed pricing for the move and piano, noting that I was in a duplex up condo unit on the second and third floors with a long walk to the street. I also asserted that the 500 pound piano had to be moved down a flight of stairs, and Stacey confirmed that just two movers could handle it. ?All you have to do is enjoy your cup of coffee and relax.? Although we requested the earliest possible start time, Stacey said they do not book jobs earlier than an 8:30-9:00 am arrival window. However, because everything else sounded good, we confirmed it all for the next morning, and I cancelled the professional piano movers. I was relieved that for a couple hundred dollars, we would be spared a lot of strain the next day. Not only was I wrong, but using Sundaze caused me even greater anxiety and frustration. Moving day was a disaster. I?d rented the truck the day before (notable on a cross-county one-way rental where every day matters) so we would be ready for the movers early in the morning. When the movers had not shown up by 9:00, I called the office. No answer ? their office hours don?t begin until 9:30. I left an urgent message. Everything hinged on this schedule: family who had flown in to help, pick-up appointments for tow dollys, making a 30-hour drive, coordinating with people flying in on the back end to assist with the unload, etc. At 9:30 am and still no movers or any communication from the company, I called again. Dave answered and told me the guys had lost the paper with my address. When the two men finally arrived at 9:45, they were surprised that the piano had to be moved down a flight of stairs and said they could not do it with just two people. And since the office is all the way up in Mundelein, they couldn?t get a third person out. I called the office to discuss with management ? no answer. I asked the mover to call management on his cell. As he talked to them, I asked to speak to management immediately. They wouldn?t speak then, but said to have me try calling the office again in 5 minutes as they weren?t actually there at the moment. When I finally spoke to Dave (Stacey wasn?t in) he had nothing to say about how to remedy the situation and said they didn?t know a flight of stairs were involved. I had been explicit and had other people who heard the initial conversation. I told Dave that Stacey knew I was an avid Angie?s List subscriber and had planned to make a report, assuming it would be positive. I further asserted that I was extremely dissatisfied and would report that but wanted to give them an opportunity to hear it from me first. Dave said he?d ?make a few calls? but with it being too late to get another person I wasn?t clear what that would accomplish. The movers, Kevin and Tony, made the most of a bad situation. Although they said such a piano move really should have at least three movers, they managed to move the piano (with one ding to the piano and doorframe), and they hustled to make up for the late start. They completed the rest of it in two hours. The pricing was as estimated (though management didn?t even attempt to offer a discount or otherwise provide customer service). I have moved cross-country and locally numerous times, as have my family members. This was the singlemost worst service we have ever received from a moving company. After starting more than an hour late, Kevin and Tony at least provided good moving services. But ownership and management never followed up with me and fell far short of what was promised. Over the years, I have used a variety of service providers and have written good to excellent reports for all. This is my first negative report, but I will never recommend this company and will advise others to avoid it at all costs. Completely unreliable representations, can?t reach the office, poor customer service, can?t handle moves as promised, impossible to rely upon their representations. As of this writing, one week post-move, nobody from the office has attempted to call me - but of course my check has been cashed.
Description of Work: Based on representations made by the owner, I hired this company to move my piano and boxed items from a 2nd/3rd floor condo (no elevator with a long walk) to a U-Haul truck for a long distance move.
