Intelligent Service: Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Drain Cleaning

I would not use another plumbing contractor than Intelligent Plumbing. They are simply the best. Matt communicated to me what was to be done, how long it would take and he did exactly what he said would be done. I am a painting contractor myself and can appreciate the manner in which Intelligent Plumbing goes about its business...professional, courteous, on-time, etc. Believe me when I say that not all plumbing contractors are equal. I have worked alongside owner, Jason, and his team on numerous projects for extremely demanding clients. They always come through with fantastic work and most importantly, can troubleshoot unexpected problems that may arise. My home is my most expensive and valuable asset. To invest in anything but the best plumbing contractor would be inviting a larger problem and probably a costlier fix down the road.

Neal Deacon was great. He took care of today's needs and made a recommendation for future work that we would like to have done in the spring. Before he left we scheduled that work. We value having a professional who remembers our house and our plumbing needs. We will only call Intelligent Plumbers for our plumbing needs.

Jason arrived within a just a few hours of my phone call and earlier than expected. He did a diagnostic and found my unit had a bad thermal coupler which he happen to have with him (yay!). The gas burner had also developed a "hiccup." Jason, on his own, contacted the manufacturer of my water heater and found this part was still covered under warranty. Paying for shipping, I'd had the unit sent to my house. So if the burner unit ever goes out, I'll have the part in hand. I would use them again.

Matt was on time and very professional. He provided various prices for example, if I purchased the products myself or they provided the products. He answered all my questions without hesitation, explained the process and also advised me that when the toilet was taken off if there was something else wrong beyond his initial findings, such as a crack in the base the charge would increase. I fully understood and agreed. He provided his number in case any additional questions arose after the visit. He tighten the screws on the second toilet for no charge which was causing the periodic leak. Matt is very pleasant and actually enjoys helping his customers. I was not pressured to complete more work than is actually necessary. I have recommended Matt and Intelligent Plumbing to another party seeking services.

For a small leak, this was a mess of an issue... not IPS' fault... We had a leak around the water meter in our basement. I called IPS due to the reviews here and they are local (same town). It is true, they charge by the job per a work order book... I am not sure if that is a bad or a good thing. At least you know that what they are charging isn't a guess whatever. OK, so Neal from IPS came out the that day (I called mid-morning - the leak was actually leaking slowly for a long time and got worse forcing me to call a plumber, but it wasn't gushing or anything). He was very professional and polite. He quickly determined the problem and gave me some options. Per Neal: The meter is owned by the village and it is leaking from the junction to the meter. So, technically, it is the village's responsibility and they would fix it for free up to the point of tightening the junction. He also mentioned that the gate valves on either side of the meter are old (as is everything in my house... 2 weeks earlier, I had to replace faucet gate values that have failed and a while ago a gate value near the water heater failed). I sort of already had in my mind that out of this effort, I would like to replace these gate values with ball type. So, we discussed that work and I agreed to replace the values (Neal would have to disconnect the meter so the leak would be fixed as a result - no village visit needed). Neal was starting the work at that point when he discovered he couldn't connect to the shutoff in the front yard. He called the village and after they sent a few different people out, the village finally dug up our yard to reconnect the tube to the box where the valve is. Neal was patient with the process and helped me to navigate dealing with the village. In a few days the connection was made and Neal came back out (a few days later... note: the leak was stopped by tightening the junction (by Neal) so this was now a valve replacement job not a "fix a leak job" at this point). The job was completed quickly and without mess. A few other things: Neal also helped me with a few other questions I had around the house (plumbing related). He sort of did a mini inspection of the exposed plumbing/drains etc. in the basement. He pointed out some things that I should keep an eye on and other things that I might want to take care of "soon" (one being how an old unused water softener connected to the main water line and the discharge into the stack). During this inspection, we talked about a rocking toilet. He tightened that down so it wouldn't rock. What I liked: he took the time to explain the problem and discuss the options. There was no pressure or hard sell. He cared about making me comfortable about the work being done and in the process likely kept me as a customer for the future. My scores: Price - like everyone else said, it is not cheap. $400 for this job is a lot. Peace of mind and reassurance goes a long way to offset higher prices, but there is a trade off there.... Responsiveness - It did take a few extra days to reschedule for the return trip (after the village fixed the shutoff). It was not an emergency or anything, so I can't say whether this would have been an issue if it were an emergency (I would guess not...also, I asked to have Neal come back out instead of someone else). I am just calling out what happened. They did show up when they said they would (actually a little early).

They do not give any prices over the phone and charge 39 dollars to come out - to give you a quote. Other place I found on Angies list gave me quote over phone, they will get my business instead.

They replaced our two sump pumps, added digital float switches, and installed an Ion Genesis wall unit to digitally track the water levels and pump options. They also checked our existing battery backup for battery outputs and determined they were still good to use. They improved the piping and fixed the check valves. They cleaned the sump pit, as well as their work area. They did a terrific job and we are very pleased with the work. Will definitely use them again and will recommend them as well. Pleasure to work with, very responsive, knowledgeable staff, and did a good job explaining the work order prior to writing up the estimate.

Even though I was a first-time customer, the company was able to work me into its schedule quickly. The plumber called on the day of the appointment to reconfirm the time and let me know when he would be arriving at my house. He assessed the problem, inquired about other plumbing problem that might be related, obtained the necessary tools from his truck and quickly resolved the problem. He was quick, efficient and courteous, and the bathroom was clean when he left. I will definitely hire this company in the future.

Intelligent Plumbing and Neal did a fantastic job helping us replace our hot water heater on an emergency basis. After finding water leaking all over my basement from the hot water heater and freaking out, Neal called back within 15 minutes of my husband placing the call. He helped walk me through the valve shut off process which I had been unable to figure out. He showed up right on time the next morning and quickly installed the new water heater and even cleaned up the excess water that he found. Thank you so much, Neal and Intelligent Plumbing!

Matt and Jose were at my house today to put in a new vent and install 2 toilets. They were incredibly professional and provided quality work. They were prompt, very neat, and above all friendly. Matt went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. It's rare to find a company with a friendly and knowledgable office staff and then technicians who are highly skilled in their trade and customer service. I would recommend them and use them again.

I called Wed. and Dan from Intelligent Plumbing was here the next day at 7:30 AM. He is very knowledgeable. I have had problems with the faucet over the years and no one could fix it but Dan got to the root of the problem and got the job done right. I highly recommend Intelligent Plumbing and will use them again.

From the outset, Jason was very thorough and helpful. He went out of his way to ensure that we were taken care of, even going so far as to provide temporary equipment to us while waiting for our custom system to be built. He was communicative, detailed and genuinely cared about our situation. Rather than just putting a bandage on the issue, he did the extra work required to ensure that we would be in good shape for years to come. Jason even endured weeks of back and forth with our pump manufacturer, Tramco. As a sidenote, Tramco has horrible lead times and customer service issues. Thankfully for most homeowners, they rarely are in the consideration set for consumer applications. That said, their product does seem to be of very high quality. In the end, we cannot recommend Jason and Intelligent more highly. They are a top-tier contractor and will be our first to call for all future work. A+!

Neil was fantastic. Polite, respectful and professional. He went through various options and pricing before starting. Also evaluated issues found and options for mainline care moving forward.

He did the work well. There was a delay to fix the special faucets which is understandable. Although expensive, all was done well and i would definitely use them again.

As always, they were on time, extremely professional, and worked with us to figure out the best solution. We use them whenever we have a plumbing concern, and each of their plumbers, who we know by name now, are really great to work with. I'd highly recommend this company. They truly stand out in the service industry that can be so frustrating at times.

They were very good. I felt the price was OK. I think he was in the right ballpark. He was prompt. He knew what he was doing.

The estimate process was very complete. Dan called 10 mins before he arrived. He was very detailed in explaining options and checked with me to ensure I was understanding and if I had any questions. The sink was litterally a 3 minute repair that he performed for free. I appreciated that considering I was not only quoting to do some expensive work, but I also told him about my future plans to replace 3 toilets. I could tell he wanted to earn my business. He seemed to be passionate about his work. I do believe I could get a better price elsewhere, but I felt confident with Dan and how the office scheduled the appointment and called to confirm as well. I will be moving forward with having them do the work.

I won't know until winter if the faucets are truly frost free, but the replacement process went as planned. I have had good luck with Neal on three different jobs. He has a good knowledge base of old house plumbing and has fixed some things that had been a problem for a number of years. He is always willing to explain what is happening in a down to earth manner. I had to use a specific product to repair the drill holes on the exterior of the house and he was very cooperative in allowing that to happen which required a return trip for them. They have a good appointment confirmation process and the plumber calls when he is en route to your house. My only issue is in their billing process. I would like to see labor and parts broken out separately so I can understand their charges. They provide a lump sum for the procedure with no detail behind it.

They did a very nice job. They were on time. Their estimate was accurate. Their work was very well done and they were very informative as far as what they were doing. I would definitely recommend them. They were prompt. They were very good as far as their installation and as far as the timeliness. They were making sure that they cleaned up after themselves. They were informative as far as how the product is, how it works and what the owner should do to maintain it.

The whole service appointment went great. Jason showed up 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment time even after I'd called at 4PM the night before. We had to call Intelligent plumbing because of a flooded basement at our rental unit. We needed to get the heater replaced quickly in order to get hot water restored to our tenant. Because of the flooding issues Jason suggested that he install the heater on a raised stand in case of future flooding. He installed a Bradford White water heater that is by far out performing the three year old Rheem model we had replaced. We couldn't be happier with service Jason and Intelligent Plumbing provided.

They had Albert Einsten on their truck. They came out right away.

They were very professional and polite. I called with a clog and they sent Jason K. out within an hour and a half. All possible problems were explained with prices before he started. And he was able to resolve our problem quickly. I would highly recommend them and will call them if we ever have a problem again!

Initially I called them because I had a backed up toilet. By the time they got there the toilet had cleared itself. They thought it might be rips in the main. It happened again a few weeks later. They did a camera inspection and found the rips. Within a few days they had a crew out to dig up the front yard, rip out the main, and got the main replaced. They did a terrific job.

I will absolutely use them again and absolutely recommend them to anyone who asks. So they came out the same day. An extremely polite and professional young man named Dan flung the reason the carpet in the rec room was wet was an old failed ejector pump. Explained costs and time needed. He had a pump on the truck and replaced it. We tested and found all working ok. Later that evening the carpet seemed like it was getting wetter and we found that the toilet in the bathroom down there had a tank on it that was full and the water was coming out of the place where the flush handle enters the tank. While we never did find out why this happened it seemed to only happen the one time and I flushed it and the tank stopped filling when the float went up. As I didn't know if this was related or not I called the plumber back. The answering service relayed my concern and the service manager called me immediately and insisted that another guy come out the next day to double check. Next mooring the carpet was wetter still and when the next plumber came Jason, he found that there was a drain that collected water from the dehumidifier for the air conditioning and had apparently back up as well as everything with the ejector pump. They came out spent an hour troubleshooting something that wasn't their issue. The refused payment saying that for Angie's List members they are solely interested in making happy customers. Their service and concern for my satisfaction were exemplary. I would recommend them to anyone. A great job done quickly and at a reasonable price. Thanks!!
