Intelligent Service: Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Drain Cleaning

Awesome. Truly, they figured out the issue and solved the burst pipe in a matter of hours during terrible weather in a small, cramped space. I've used Intelligent Plumbing many times over the years, and have never been disappointed.

Small part but big headaches if you have to tear up tile. They saved us at least $1200 by successfully removing the weathered old one. I will use them again in our new house.

It was a great experience. Neal came out to do an estimate on the job and said he could do it right on the spot. He explained everything to me about what he was doing, wanted me to see the old pipe, convinced me that adding an access door was unnecessary, and had the job done in an hour and a half. I had called two other plumbers for estimates as well but hadn't gotten any response yet. When the bid came in, one (Biaggi -- recommended by a friend) came in for half the price, and my usual plumber (Becks) came in at the same price as Intelligent Plumber. However the fact that my friend recommended Biaggi and it was half the price, leads me to think that I will be using them in the future, even though the Intelligent Plumber service was above and beyond.

I contacted Intelligent Plumbing Services due to their high rating on Angie's List as well as their rating in the local Northwest Suburbs best Picks Report (2014). Similar to other reviews, they will not give a price quote over the phone. They just send someone out and give you a price onsite and you can decide to move forward or not (which at that point, you do not have a lot of purchasing power since you probably need some urgent help). They have a price book that they go out of and they do not seem to price by the hour, but by the project. The guy that showed up, Dan (the man), was a nice guy, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. There is no question of the qualify of service they provide. However, the cost to me was exorbitant. I had new counter tops put in, and needed my new sink hooked up to existing plumbing. The job took about 90 minutes, and the final cost was $603 (less 10% for being an Angie's List member). At that price, we are talking about $400/hr to hook up a sink. at this rate, you are talking of a professional service valued at $832,000/yr. I am not sure brain surgeons get paid that much. In the future, I will not use them and will look for more cost effective options. Update: Since I put forward this review, I was contacted by Intelligent Plumbing. They certainly took the high road and showcased that customer service and fair pricing was indeed important to them. We had a discussion on the phone to the exact work done and decided on a fair price and they issued me a check as a refund. They have earned my trust to use them again in the future, I will just be more careful on what service I am actually being charged for.

We were so grateful for their prompt and professional service. We even called them at 11:00 pm at night with an emergency call when we had discovered our basement had flooded when our sump pump went out. Thank you!!

Tilll got other est Need to fix pipe in yard est of 7500 dollars and would be able to apply 500 dollars from clean out Got other est......195 to clean out and 2850.00 to fix pipe WOW

Intelligent Plumbing Technician (on Mon., 6-9-14, about 1 PM) was on time, completed requested repairs upon approval of estimate given at time, inspected other plumbing concerns.. Very helpful with other advice.

Unprofessional. Contacted the office thru Angies to rod out a kitchen drain that was clogged. A $75-$100 job at worst. Office refused to give us a quote or a range simply saying they had a "book" they used. Wife was home alone. After an hour or so gave her a $350 bill. Thank you very much - a rip off pure and simple

As always, service man was polite and thorough. Got along with my dog too. Explained the situation before any work began, so we wouldn't have any surprises.

So thankful I found Neal at Intelligent Plumbing! While undergoing a downstairs remodel, I discovered a leak originating from the upstairs shower/tub, specifically from the Grohe therm shower/tub mixer. After a series of mistakes and misinformation from my contractor, I got in contact with Neal and he saved the day. Upon his initial visit, Neal educated me on my options for repair or replacement of the Grohe mixer. He helped me analyze how each option fit within my needs and my budget. We determined that re-building the mixer was the best option for me. He secured the necessary parts and came back when I was ready to have the work done. The job went smoothly and our shower/tub is back in working order, better than the day we moved in 11 years ago. During this same visit, I asked Neal a variety of questions about other suspect plumbing fixtures in my home. He cleared two sink faucet aerators, adjusted a toilet handle, and examined a leaky toilet valve and toilet tank. He gave me good explanations and solid advice on how to proceed. I already have him scheduled to come back next week to replace a toilet. Neal is extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient, and easy to work with. I liked Neal and his work so much that I referred him to my parents and he has already completed work in their home. Can?t thank Intelligent Plumbing enough!

Both Matt and Dan were on time and when they came into the house placed protective coverings on their shoes. Each displayed knowledge of the problem and reviewed what options would be the best and what we thought. Something not many repair men do, it?s usually a pushy sales pitch to buy their products. Not with Matt and Dan. Before, during and once the job was complete, protective coverings were used on the floor and all of signs work were cleaned up. Nice job. At all times displayed professionalism and courtesy, never tried to advise us of the wonderful job they were doing for us, or how difficult the job was and how they were doing us a favor as experienced with other plumbers. I would gladly refer Intelligent Plumbing Services.

Because I have a service dog, I asked the dispatcher for a call in advance so that I could put Charlie away so that he would not be in the way. Dan the technician who came out called me about 15 minutes ahead of time to let me know he was coming. When Dan arrived, he was very neatly and professionally dressed and he had his tools and parts with him. He immediately gave me credit for my Angie's list coupon, and quoted me the price plus explaining what he needed to do. I also got a quote to replace the downstairs toilet with an ADA compliant toilet. He also included a 3 year complete warranty for both his repairs and for the toilet. The toilet has to be ordered so he gave me a time and date when he could come back to install the new toilet. Dan was at ease with my dogs, courteous and respectful of my disability (recent knee replacement) and made every effort to do the job and then to give me the opportunity to get to the kitchen where we completed the paperwork. My overall impression was that he was very efficient and knowledgeable and did an excellent job. He was quick, and left the bathroom in excellent and clean condition. This is the second time that we have used Intelligent Plumbing, and on both occasions I have been very pleased with the service and I plan on using them again. There is no ambiguity about what the service is going to cost, and they do a good job.

I'm currently finishing up a home renovation project and discovered a small gas leak in a 90 degree elbow leading down to the basement. The solution was to cut pipe, remove both sides, thread them, reinstall with union in the middle, which was their solution, sounded right on the money. I then received a call from repair guy saying he would have to come back with another guy and it would cost $626 to repair. I thought this was a little high. Called another local plumber found on Angie's list. He came out by himself, made the repair in about an hour and twenty minutes and charged me $226. Not sure why the pricing was so excessive through Intelligent plumbing.

Dan was extremely professional when he came out. He was extremely mindful of my home and was just very customer-oriented (wanted to make me feel he was their to help) when speaking with me. Unfortunately, Intelligent Plumbing has set prices they do for a job and there's not much wiggle room. When I totaled their prices all together it came out to be extradordinarly expensive. They put in quality parts, as Dan discussed, I totally get it, but when you can't work with your customer on pricing it makes it tough to swallow - getting such a big bill. That said I I respect their company based on how they carry themselves. I really can't say anything bad about them other than their prices are a bit high.

Ok. Had to order the water filtration system. Then had to come back to install and then again because the correct faucet (brushed nickel) took longer to get. The two bathroom repairs were over $500. Bill doesn't break down so u can see cost of parts, labor, etc. Service men were very professional and courteous and neat. Probably would not use again because they are very expensive.

Upon seeing the great reviews on Angie's List, I called Intelligent and they said they could arrive today and waive the initial fee since I was an Angie's List member. Neil came and identified the problem as stemming from nodule in our Jacuzzi tub. To confirm that, he cut a hole in near the drain, identified the problem and then fixed it to make sure it would no longer leak. He explained the cost and impact at every stop. We were impressed by his professionalism and his knowledge and will certainly use them again.

Neil was great. On his initial visit, he sat down with me and took a lot of time to make sure that I understood the new type of system that he was proposing so that I could accurately convey it to my husband. On the day of the job, he arrived on time, answered all of our questions before he started work, and finished the job efficiently. He also answered other questions that we had regarding other plumbing projects and was very patient in giving advice and answering questions. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we will definitely call on Intelligent Plumbing again for future needs. I NEVER write reviews but felt that Intelligent Plumbing deserved another A+ review.

In all fairness, our general contractor Total Home did not help but rather caused some serious issues with their lack of supervision and instructions. We ended up handling a lot of issues created by Total Home but Intelligent did make some serous mistakes which caused flooding on two occasions. It was very traumatizing and they left us with a incomplete job after the last incident where they flooded our brand new powder room and oak floors. It was right before Christmas and the lack of empathy and professionalism was atrocious. After further review, we found major mistakes made with the incomplete master bath plumbing where no measurements were taken with the plumbing roughs and we have to tear out half of the plumbing to reset for the correct depth and add lines that were specified in the drawings. I could go on but this gets the point across.

Intelligent Plumbing was very prompt and professional in providing their services for my leaking outdoor faucet. They were able to accommodate me within hours of my call - evaluated the problem and provided fast and efficient service. The overall price was more than I wanted to pay, but I do have peace of mind that the job was done well and it came with a 2 year warranty.

Neal is very knowledgeable with Grohe products. He rebuilt my shower mixer, body spray and checked the water pressure. He replaced a part on the sump pump. He also fixed a few other small problems. Great plumber and reasonablly priced.

Matt was most charming and informed - an excellent plumber! He wore shoe covers in the unit and showed great respect for my property. There was no question or problem with the work. However, when he looked at the box for the new faucet, he noticed the box had already been open. (Da - da - da -da!) The faucet plate was broken and I had to return it for a replacement. Matt was not available to return to install the new faucet, but sent a swell guy to finish the job - his boss! Everything is now in place and working beautifully! Kudos to company and I would recommend them with the highest regards!

I had a pipe spring a tiny leak behind the wall; Intelligent was able to come out same day. Jason came out to fix my pipe, he was incredibly nice and courteous. I left for a camping trip the next day... The reason I say that is because a week later I received a thank you card ensuring I was satisfied and Jason remembered our conversation because he expressed his hope that the trip went well... such a nice cherry on the top. I would recommend them to anyone!

Their price depends on what we were having done. It's about average. They're very clear on what their pricing is. They have a chart and they show you exactly how much you are getting done. They've been great. They call to let us know when they are coming and they are very quick to come out when we need them. We are very happy with them. They do call when they are running late.
