set up date & time for estimate but never showed

I discovered this company when they were working on a neighbors tree. I thought I'd introduce myself and ask for an estimate on my tree. I was quoted $400.00 and $450.00 to include removing the stump. I asked of what technique he would use. He explained that he would use what most call a "Bucket Truck", but would have to see if it would reach the tree from my drive way. If not then it was explained that he would have someone climb the tree and cut from the top downward. After explaining the removal process, my wife and I agreed to have our tree and stump removed by this company. Before leaving our property it was explained clearly by me, "We will contact you to decide on what date you can come by". I never allow any type of work without the presence of me or my wife. Approximately two weeks later my wife comes home from work to find the tree gone. NO CALL OR CONFIRMATION. A date was never scheduled. I came home later that day to find two tire tracks running through my lawn. The truck had sunk causing a five inch depression in the soil causing the soil to be visible. It looks horrible and is going to cost a bit to return it to the original state. He did not wait for my call, and mostly, I would NEVER AGREED TO HAVING A TRUCK ON MY LAWN. I've just bought this house and been steadily making improvements. Tree cutting without informing me will cost me more money. Three weeks after the tree was cut he finally came by my house, (no call) and requested his money. I explained the situation and because I'm a man of my word, I paid him but only $400.00 for the inconvenience. My wife begged me to get an attorney. I am never going to use this company again for they are unpredictable, inconsiderate, lacking in respect and simply do not follow instructions.
