I contacted McKay Tree Service for an estimate on taking down a small dead tree, two diseased cherry trees and a small uprooted crabapple tree in our back yard. They called and then came out promptly. Their estimate was 40% less than the other party I had out to do an estimate. Since they had received high marks on Angie's List I trusted their estimate and there were no hidden costs or add ons. The only thing I would say is that the fellow from the other company that came out noticed that the small tree that had uprooted in our back yard was leaning on a wire. He offered to trim the branch that was putting the wire in jeopardy at no charge regardless of whether or not I gave him the job, which he then did. Had his estimate been in line with McKay's I probably would have gone with him simply for that additional service. However McKay's service was professional, efficient, and 40% less than the competion. They took down all 4 trees and ground up the stumps and all visible roots. I was actually amazed when I saw how completely they had removed the trees and the small areas of ground wood that took up the area where there was once a root system. I didn't have to do any clean up of any kind after they had finished. Really efficient and I'm glad I went with them.

In the past we ordered wood from another company and it turned out not to be dry enough. We are very pleased with this product. His price was fair and he knew his business. Very pleased.

Performed a couple of schedule and confirm calls, they were prompt, on-time, and stacked the wood neatly in my garage. It's my understanding that less-expensive firewood is available - but the gentlemen demonstrated to me how a less-reputable company could give you less wood by stacking the wood differently. The driver even swept my garage when finished. I liked that!

They were the cheapest and that?s why I went with them. They are good and I would recommend them. They did the work completely. There are some people who don?t complete the job and tell us that we never asked them to do certain things. We weren?t around when the person from McKay Tree Service came for the estimate. He knew exactly what we wanted to do and he had a paper pad where he wrote down about the bushes in the front. There were a lot of bushes. He noted down as to which branches of the maple trees were to be trimmed since they were going into the house. I paid about the same price when I had my tree taken and other kinds of stuff done about 5 years ago. I didn?t want to pay that much but I think it was the best price that was available. The quality of their work was good. They cleaned up after themselves. They ground up all the stumps and took it away. They were on time as well. They didn?t do anything that was unprofessional. If need be, then I would use their services in the future too.

We needed to have a tree stump removed. McKay returned calls promptly and said they would come look at the job on Saturday to give an estimate. Dennis arrived, took a look, and said they would return the next morning with the stump grinder and would grind it down to 12" below surface. Ken arrived the next day (Sunday!) with the grinder. He was polite and careful not to trample our flowers with the machine. It took about an hour. After he left, we cleared away the grindings and found that two pretty big roots were only cut down about an couple of inches. This was disappointing. But overall, they did a pretty good job in a reasonable time frame.

They came cut down the trees and branches, shered smaller pieces, cut up bigger ones and hauled everything away leawing my yard immesurably neater than before.

Mckay tree service removed two fir trees about 40 ft tall and one mulberry tree about 50 ft tall and one dry plum tree about 15 ft. I did not need stumps removed, just the trees cut down. The workers came and did the work ontime, cleanely and efficiently.

Excellent!! They were on time and on budget and left my lot cleaner than they found it.

My spouse saw them working several blocks away and asked Ken to stop by and give us a quote. He stop by several hours later and gave me a quote. My spouse and I agreed to have them cut the tree down, Ken and I agreed on a time for them to come out when the ground dried up. They did a great job carefully cutting down the tree without damaging anything. Very happy with everything.

I made a call, set up a delevery date, the driver showed up when he said he would. The wood was well seasoned and burns well. I will use Mc Kay Tree Service for my future fire wood needs.

Called Ken up on Saturday and left a message, he called me back within an hour and gave me all his prices on his different mixes of wood. I told him thanks and I have a few other calls I'm waiting on. He turned out to be the least expensive. I called him back on Sunday and he said he could drop it off in an hour. He did show up within the hour and dropped the wood exactly where I asked. Very nice guy. It was a little more than a face core. I highly recommend.

I had a maple tree in my front yard (a city yard which is very small) that I needed to have cut down. The tree was planted too close to the house, and I was afraid it would damage my foundation. I hated to lose it but wanted to protect my house. I got a timely quote from McKay and arranged to have it cut down. After a few delays (some due to weather) they finally got it done. I would've preferred the have the stump cut down lower but understand that it's a tight workspace and I'm assuming they did the best they could. There are a few straggling branch pieces in the yard, and one of my bushes was slightly damaged, but I think that's to be expected with this type of work. I've used these guys in the past, and I'll probably call them back when I need to have my backyard tree cut down.

We called Ken for firewood this past season. After calling around he had the most competitive price with good recommendations. I called him and he quoted me $135, delivered, for a face cord with some birch. The wood we got was well seasoned and got a little more than just a face cord. He also gave us a small stack of kindling and about 20/25 pieces of birch. We will be calling Ken again for next season.

They cleaned up after themselves very nicely. They were efficient and did a good job. They were very prompt. I would definitely call them immediately if I needed any work done.

They did the most thorough walk-through and estimate. They have been on time to every showing. They did have the best price of all the tree service providers.

I called McKay for an estimate probably three months before I actually got the work done. When I called back to schedule the work, he was very professional and remembered the job. He let me know when he would be available and stated that he would call the morning of the job and inform us when he was on his way. The guys who came completed the job within an hour and did a great job cleaning up. Very professional!

GREAT! They showed up on time and before we even knew it, they were up in the tree and got to work. They were fast, professional, polite and did not leave a single branch in the back yard. The objective of this project was to get more light into the yard. They asked us to tell them specifically what we wanted and as they worked looked for feed back and ideas. As one branch came down we were able to see the effect it had on light in the yard and would at that time consider other branches. GREAT JOB! GREAT PROFESSIONALISM! GREAT TEAM!

I called for an estimate and was told someone would come by and look at the job and get back to me. Dennis called me 4 days later and gave me the price. No written estimate was provided or emailed to me. They were the lowest price out of three estimates that I got, and since this was for a condo building, the low price gets the job. I told Dennis that I would need one days notice before the job could be done, so all the condo owners could move their cars out of the parking spaces under the tress to be serviced. He told me they could probably do the job 2 or 3 days later, and he would call me to confirm. 6 days later I still hadn't heard from him, so I called and left a message. I heard back from him, and the job was scheduled for that week. I told him multiple times that work could not start before 8 a.m., as this is the law where we live. On the day of the job the crew and 3 vehicles showed up at 7:15 a.m. The foreman, Ken, seemed really irritated that they couldn't turn on any loud equipment until after 8 a.m., even though he knew that this is what I had said. He then proceeded to yell back and forth to his guys, even though he knew I was really concerned about the early hour and upsetting our neighbors. He had a bad attitude, his biggest concern was getting the job done as fast as possible, and he did not seem that interested in it looking good. No attempt was made to dig out the stumps of the 2 shrubs that were cut down, even though that was noted to be done in the estimate. Overall, I felt like I had to chase them to get this job scheduled, and then the experience was unpleasant. I will use another tree service the next time.

I'm really pleased with their service. They provided a timely estimate (unlike several other providers in this category), and it was reasonable compared to others. We set up a time which we had to change (because of me), and they were here on time. The work took about an hour, and the trees look great. One tree was cut down by almost 1/3 and shaped accordingly. The other tree was in a tight spot between 2 city garages and close to power lines, and it needed a lot of dead wood cut out. I was scared to watch, but they handled it easily. They cleaned up pretty good afterward, even on my neighbor's property.

They were prompt and their rate was reasonable. They were friendly to deal with.

I called late morning on a Friday, and Ken returned my call within a reasonable amount of time. He was able to deliver the fire wood later that afternoon. He backed the truck into the the backyard, and unloaded the wood, while I stacked it.

I have used them several times before. They have removed trees, thinned out trees, fertilized trees, etc for me. Every service they have ever done, they have done a great job for a reasonable price. I haven't ever talked to them when they come, but they are always here on time.

We got an estimate within 2 days of requesting one. They came out and did the work for the price quoted that same week.
