Handy Jacks

Again, Jack came through! I called him 10 PM Tues night with a plumbing emergency. He arrived 8:30 AM Wed so he could attempt the repair before I left at noon for a 3 week vacation. He obtained the necessary parts while I was gone and completed the repairs the morning after I called advising him I'd returned. The charge included previous work he had done on a faulty wiring connection but for which he didn't want immediate payment, preferring to wait until I was sure his repairs took care of the problem.

I needed to replace an old hanging light fixture over my kitchen eating counter which wasn't working properly. Not only did he provide a price for the work to be done but checked the electrical connections and circuit breakers to confirm there was nothing amiss with the electricity in my 40+ year old condo unit, since the bulbs in the old fixture were blowing after one week every time I replaced them. He suggested where I could shop for a new fixture (depending on my price range) and what type would fit in my decorating scheme. He returned when I was ready and installed the fixture quickly and cleaned up completely after himself. I also replaced four plain bedroom and bathroom doors with six-panel doors and new lever handles at the same time as the light fixture. He purchased the doors, customized them to fit my doorways, and installed the new handles. Some of the doors didn't open/close properly after he hung them so he took as much time as necessary to make the adjustments. They fit perfectly now and look beautiful It's made a huge improvement in the look of my home. Jack, the owner of Handy Jacks, is much more than just a handyman. I have used him for other remodeling projects and have always been pleased with his price, work, and attitude. The best was when he showed up on a Sunday morning. My upstairs neighbor's sink overflowed (she had left the tap running for 3 hours). When I saw a dark stain spreading across my kitchen ceiling, I called Jack. He said, and quot;Let me grab my tools!and quot; and came within 10 minutes, saving the ceiling from collapsing. He did all the subsequent work of replacing the kitchen, hall and bathroom ceilings damaged by the water after ascertaining no danger of mold existed. I can always count on him.
