Very smooth transaction and the trees look great. Ken Brown was very easy to talk with and helped me understand the need to get the trimmed. They cleaned their mess up and answered questions when I asked.

Martin responded to us very quickly. We needed to cut power to remove the dead American Elm, and he arranged it with ComEd for us even before we committed to hire his company. The proof of liability insurance was provided. They brought a crane on the second day, and so the whole process was very fast and safe for the workers on the cold winter days. The workers were very considerate toward my neighbors and tried to clean as much as they could. Everything was included and there was no hidden costs. Everyone knows tree removal is expensive. Although we paid a lot, we felt they did so much extra for us. We had such big mature trees needed to be removed, and they took our other junk trees out of my yard. We were very happy with the outcomes. They have great equipment, and very professional.

Very well. The company did the tree removal and trimming work as promised, for a reasonable price, and returned a week later to remove stumps and large pieces of tree limbs. Their representative was responsive, and arranged for follow-up work to complete the job.

It went really well. They worked all day even with some light rain.

It was fine. They took out the trees but left a lot of debris from the stump grinding.

Over the course of a month we received multiple copies of the same proposal, one which ignored our request, and multiple voice messages asking for callback even though all our communications stated AL message or email was easiest for us. It became apparent that all communications passed through the main office, which did not relay them accurately to Ken Brown. We asked for direct email or phone for Ken, got messages from him, but all replies again when to main office. Even calling Ken's cell phone produces a voice greeting saying no voice messages are checked on that phone, and to call main office or email main office. Ken's final text to us was somewhat angry and rude, stating he always answered his phone (clearly not true since we couldn't reach him) and that he had no time for text or email. One stark example, we sent a detailed email to main office asking again for quote to original request, repeated that request, and asked for a way to reach Ken directly. Reply came back saying we needed to submit signed and dated copy of their proposal. It was as if they did not even read the email. While it is likely we would not have used Brown, because their proposal was over double that of the other 3 we obtained, it would have been nice to see what they would charge for the work we asked quoted. All the other vendors we contacted, with same request, were very nice and professional, in sharp contrast to Brown.

I had a giant evergreen taken down and couldn't be happier with the work that was done. The whole process from contact to being taken done was a few business days. It was affordable and they also cleaned up afterwards.

Good work on an overgrown mature apple tree, with a knowledgeable explanation by Marty on what was going to be done and why. We will be using them again.

From start to finish I highly recommend this company. The arborist (Martin) was very knowledgeable and easy to work with and gave me good tips on how to keep my trees healthy. The crew came out today right on time and did a FABULOUS job on all of my trees and shrubs (11 trees and 8 shrubs). Everything looks perfectly the way I had hoped they would. They took care not to trample my garden which surrounds some of the trees. Their foreman and crew were very professional and very hard working and they cleaned up everything right down to the last leaf that fell. Thank you so much for a great job done!

As stated above - the work was never done. I have waited more than a week for a return phone call. I went elsewhere to get my work done.

We contacted the company via the messaging system on Angie's List and they returned the message promptly. The arborist called and scheduled a time to meet with us, and he showed up on time and was friendly and professional throughout the encounter. He explained in detail what it would take to cut the tree down and what would happen the day the removers arrived. He also offered advice on replacement trees if that was something we were seeking. Within a few days an estimate and contract arrived in the mail. We called to say we'd like the work done, and were told the men would be there that week. When no one showed up, we faxed the contract back in case they needed that. I sent another message through Angie's List in the evening, and someone responded the next morning that she would forward the message to the owner. Later that morning, someone called to say the men would be coming that day. Sure enough, within 30 minutes, three men showed up. The lead man introduced himself and went over what we wanted in terms of the stump. The men worked quickly and safely and soon the only signs that a tree once shaded our house were the stump, two parts of the trunk sitting in the garden, and some sawdust that we shook off our plants to use for mulch. They blew the remaining sawdust off our porch. They chipped the tree in the street, checked to see if everything was okay, and then they departed.

I was very satisfied. I called for an estimate and they were out the next day.

Crew arrived early and worked until nearly 5pm, with only a short break for lunch. This was one of the hardest working crews I have seen. They worked non-stop with no fooling around. They were very knowledgeable and simply did a great job. Another person came late in the day to grind out the stumps. It had started to rain earlier in the day, so they walked the property and decided the ground was too soft to drive the stump grinder on . They came back a few days later after the ground dried and took care of the stumps. The trees look great.

A+ for both the arborist and tree removal people. D for the stump removal. Drove machinery the size of a Volkswagen over flagstone path and across soft early Spring landscaping.

Ken provided a timely and fair quote. His crew spent the entire day reviving a yard badly in need of attention. They did a great job.

Ken and his crew were fantastic. We called in the afternoon on November 3rd, and Ken was at our home that same evening. He took a look around, and gave us some amazing ideas for our yard. He gave us a quote right then and there, and told us his crew would be out the next morning to start taking down the trees. Ken faxed over the paper work early the next morning which is exactly what he said he would do. I signed it, faxed it back like at 6am. His crew (again amazing) were at the house at 7:20 am. They had trees cut down, cut up, chipped, lawn raked and DONE at 9:45am. I couldn't believe how efficient these guys were. Ken and his company did exactly what he said they would do, exactly when he said they would do it and for the exact price he quoted us and we are totally happy with the results. Can't wait to see the trees blossom. Thanks Ken!!!

Took about a month to come out. Scheduled one day at a quick notice, and let us know they would be there at 1pm and someone needed to be home for it. I rushed home on my lunch break to meet the, and they never showed up. They never called and explained or apologized for not showing up. We got a call later that day and they told us they would be out in two days. When they finally showed up they did good work. The price was a bit steep for the service.

Marty, the sales rep reviewed the work we wanted, made some good suggestions and showed that he was a professional arborist. The crew showed up as scheduled. The crew chief checked that the work to be done was as we agreed. He also made a couple of suggestions, which were accepted. After the work, the area was cleaned and raked. We are delighted by how the trees look now. Definitely, we will call Brown Tree Service again.
