Scott came and inspected our roof and found hail damage. He was able to work with State Farm to get our claim approved. He seemed like a nice guy and had answers to my questions. His pitch was that if I referred people to him he would cover my deductible. His team installed my roof in about two and a half days. Based on my experience to that point, I spread the word to several people and gave them SAL Construction’s info. I noticed a few minor things right after the installation: cracked trim around our skylight, shingles overhanging farther than they should have on one face of the house, and satellite dish not being realigned. No major show stoppers so I signed my insurance check over to SAL Construction. About a week later I was working in my attic and noticed that they did not patch several of the holes from where the static vents used to be. They just shingled over 8 inch wide holes without putting anything under for support-someone could very easily have put a foot through one of these holes. I fixed this issue myself since I figured I was getting a good deal by not having to pay my deductible. I then decided to check and see if ice and water shield had been installed everywhere that it was supposed to. Several areas, including over a bedroom and the kitchen, had no ice and water barrier installed. I contacted Scott on October 26 and he said he would come out the next day. He did not show. Said he would be out the day after that for sure. He did not show. I texted a few days later and received no response. They day after I texted again and finally got a response that he would stop by the next day. He didn’t show. That night it rained and water leaked in around the skylight. I tried getting a hold of Scott through every way that I could think of, including the “24-hour emergency response” number. There was no response. I had to get on the roof in the rain and put a tarp over the skylight to stop further water damage. The next day, November 3, I called again and Scott answered. His guys came out and did a temporary fix of the skylight flashing (it did not appear to have been done right the first time). Scott said that it was the skylight’s fault (the leak path was around the skylight and had nothing to do with the skylight itself). While they were over they put down one layer of ice and water shield in the areas that they missed. They also trimmed back the shingles that were over hung too far and nailed down the ridge vent that was wavy and peeling up. He said he would get a new skylight to take care of the problem and that it would be in around a week from then. That was on November 3. On December 14 he sends a message saying that he finally has the skylight and that he was going to drop it off at my house. He said that I can install it myself or he would do it if there was a nice day (when I checked out the skylight, it turned out to be too small and the wrong orientation for our application). He also sent me an invoice for my entire deductible plus the cost of the new skylight. Frustrated with the bill that I was not expecting, I challenged Scott on only putting down one row of ice and water shield instead of the two that Chapter 9, Section R905.2.7.1 of the International Residential Code calls for. His response was that he knows the code better than I do, and it is ok that he did not put enough ice and water shield down to get 24 inches inside the interior wall like the code says because he always only puts one row on (for my roof pitch and soffit size, he was at least 13 inches short of what the code calls for). We ended up settling the invoice for the majority of what Scott was requesting. I mailed him a check, as he requested, and kindly requested a receipt of payment. Scott cashed the check and did not send a receipt, even after repeated requests. Throughout all of this, Scott never offered any sort of apology for the issues that came up. UPDATE July 2017: Scott reached out to me and apologized for me being unhappy with the work that he performed. He also refunded me the out of pocket money that he had billed me.

It didn't happen. I called and spoke to Scott Sal. He seemed very professional and friendly. I gave him my phone number, email address and home address via text as he requested. He was at a game and promised to call me back. He mentioned he would be able to come out Monday or Tuesday and would call beforehand. I felt very comfortable with him on the phone and he seemed very professional and gave me confidence in his ability to do a job well. I have some background knowledge. I never heard back so I called back a week maybe 1.5 weeks later. I left another voicemail with information in case he accidentally deleted my text of information that I sent the first time. I never received a call back. I was really disappointed that my call was not returned and wonder if he is doing so well he can pick or choose or what happened? I found the no response unprofessional. Some of your questions need an n/a. I didn't have the service so I don't know if I would use him and used today's date and put a $1.00 so I could submit.

For roofing, one, he was very quick to response when I sent him an email one evening, contacting him and asking for a follow-up call. He was very professional. They did really an awesome job. He did extra work. I did compare with a couple of people. He was unbelievably more reasonable one when it comes to price.

Sal was recommended to us by a friend that found him here on Angie's List. We had him completely gut our bathroom to the studs. Overall he did a great job. Everything was undated that needed to be including plumbing, exhaust fan, mold resistant wet area dry wall etc. The shower he built turned out perfect and we get compliments from everyone thats sees it. At first we thought his price was a little high, but we are so glad we went with him. You actually do get what you pay for. I gave him a "B" under responsiveness only because we had to wait approx 6 weeks for him to schedule the work. With that said it is a good comfortable feeling to know that he is that busy and in such a high demand. I would recommend Scott to anybody that wants a honest quality job done at an affordable price point.

We hired SAL to install new ceramic tile floors in our hall bath, master bath, & master hallway. They also put in new 3/4 cherry hardwood floors in my master bedroom. The craftsmanship was immaculate. He shows up on time, worked on my job everyday till it was done, cleaned up at the end of the day, & most importantly was very respectful to me & my family. I am so pleased with the work that I would recommend SAL to everyone!!!! Great work, great price, great guy!!!

They did everything they said and did a beautiful job right on budget! I recommended them to my sister who needed a tile floor installed in her kitchen. Scott did an amazing job on the tile as well. There was no work performed to evaluate. Very disappointed that I have gotten no response from this company.
Description of Work: Provider did no work for me. We scheduled a day to meet with a tentative time. He had indicated the earlier the better. I could not get off work as I had hoped so we agreed to reschedule. He was to call me and let me know what time on a specific day and I have not heard from him since. I left a voice message and a text regarding the no contact and received a text stating he would contact me that next Friday or Saturday. NOTHING, and that has been more than a week now.

Response from SAL Construction Services
In response to your negative comment towards my company. You called and asked me to drive outside of my service area to give you an estimate for a window repair on a leaky window. I told you that was not worth the resources as it would take more time to actually diagnose the problem as it would to fix the problem and kindly passed on the opportunity. There was never any discussion of ceramic tile. There is no reason for you to smear my reputation because I wasn't interested in your job. Your comments are 100% untrue and unfounded. Completely ridiculous...

We used SAL to do tile work in our kitchen. We needed 7 new windows in the back of our house due to some storm damage as well as new cedar siding. We live in an older home and come to find out the old windows were covered in lead paint. Obviously this made us very nervous and concerned and we wanted this lead issue corrected immediately. SAL has all the certification to handle LEAD abatement and successfully removed and replaced our windows. The windows were done in conjunction with the siding on the back of the house. Our house is mainly brick on the front and sides. We had cedar clap siding that was damaged by a storm on the back of the house. SAL suggested that we use cement siding to replace the damaged cedar. SAL & his crew did a wonderful job, not only installing the windows & siding but cleaning up. They actually cleaned my entire house from top to bottom with special vacuums and cleaners to ensure the lead dust was removed. We are so pleased with SAL & his crew. At first we thought the price was high but after seeing all the extra work it takes to deal with lead we are confident the price was fair. Thanks again and job well done.

We met SAL through a friend that he did some insurance work for. We have a large kitchen with a huge island and always wanted to redo the floors. As I was looking for tile for the floor I found glass accent tiles that I wanted to use on the back splash to tie everything together. Needless to say our project just got larger. We struggled to find qualified contractors to do this work and because we spend so much time in our kitchen we wanted everything to be perfect. From the first second we met with SAL we were totally comfortable and confident they could do the work to our expectations. Sure enough the job was completed 4 days ahead of schedule and turned out PERFECT!!! I catch myself sometimes just staring at my new tile. I absolutely love it. I would recommend SAL to everyone. We also had them replace some windows & put up siding on the back of our house (cement siding). SAL is honest & does everything he says he will do. Great job guys and thanks so much!!!

We got SAL?s name from friends of friends at church that they had built a new house for. After a tour of their house we were set on SAL as our contractor. We had them remodel our master bathroom. This was a big project as everything was removed down to bare bones. They guys showed up on-time every day and always cleaned up the mess at quitting time. Scott & his crew are wonderful pleasant people that truly care about what they do. Our bathroom turned out perfect. We get so many compliments on the custom shower they built. Amazing!!! I would recommend them to anyone. They aren't the cheapest contractor in town, but you get what you pay for. We plan on having them back to replace our windows too!

We had Sal remodel our bathroom and where so pleased with the job we had them come back and replace our windows. We had some cheap old windows and really wanted to upgrade to Anderson Windows. After doing some research Scott figured out a way for us to get Anderson windows. They were able to use new construction windows, which required them to remove the siding around the windows to install. They did a wonderful job and we are so pleased with the results. They saved us thousands of dollars using the new construction windows. We got an estimate from Re-newal by Anderson and they said it wasn't possible and want to charge almost 10,000 dollars more for replacement windows. So glad everything worked out the way it did! Thanks to SAL & his crew. Great Job Guys!!!
