We received the tile and installed it in our new kitchen. After washing it several times we noticed several tiles that had a manufacturer's defect in it - a line right down the middle of the tile. I contacted the store and asked them how they wanted to handle it. I wanted replacement tiles and preferably that they install the new tile. Seven months and many many phone calls and trips into the store later, I finally made it known that I really did want replacement tile and if need be, I would contact my lawyer to get it. The salesperson I had been working with said she probably wouldn't be able to replace it because it was discontinued. I informed her that it was sold in good faith as good, but no longer produced tile; it was not defective. She called later trying to make it sound like she was doing me a favor by agreeing to get me replacement tiles - if she could find them. A quick google search produced several results for obtaining the tile, but I had to call her with the contact information so she could order them. By that point I had already filed a complaint with the BBB; two months later she responded to that complaint by saying I had "exaggerated and even lied" about the facts. I'm not lying when I say I will NEVER patronize this company again and I will let all my friends know not to shop there too. In a day when small businesses are hurting for business, you would think they would want to make their customers happy with good customer service - not try to save a few bucks by not standing behind their products.
Description of Work: We bought a porcelain floor tile that had been discontinued. We installed the tile ourselves.

We used the tile installer recommended by the store and had problems throughout the job. The grout used on the wall tiles was not mixed properly and dried very splotchy in color and was applied so sloppily that I had to chip it out of three water valves before the valves would work. In addition the wrong mastic was used behind the glass tiles. After complaining the store said they would order a grout stain and it would be in for pick-up in a couple of days. It took two weeks to arrive and we have been without a master bathroom for two and a half weeks. The store has told us that any problems we have are strictly between us and the installer and they fill no sense of obligation for our satisfaction despite not providing the proper white mastic and recommending this installer for the job.
Description of Work: The installer recommended by the store did a totally inadequate job including using a dark grey mastic behind clear glass tiles despite a white mastic being recommended but not supplied by Leslie's.

Their prices are higher than big box stores, and the tile is no different. I places my order on a Wednesday and they said it would be in on Friday. I scheduled my installer. No call on Friday. I had to call them. They weren't sure when it would be in. They didn't call me, I had to call them for status. I had to call off my installer twice because the tile was delayed so many times. "Stuck" at the border in Canada was what I was told. Stuck at the border? Tile finally arrives 2 weeks later. It was wet and musty smelling, and still sitting in the wet degrading boxes when they had me check it to be sure it was the right tile. I had to ask for the tile to be put into clean dry boxes for storage in my home until the installer could be scheduled again. Their tile estimate was WAY over what I actually needed. Since it was special order, of course they won't take any of it back. They estimated too little grout so my installer had to use some he had because Designer Tile couldn't get me anymore in time. Couldn't get more grout in time? I asked if the grout could be returned - yes it could, no problem. No mention of a time limit on returns. I tried to return on Labor Day weekend but they were closed (home improvement sort of store closed on Labor Day weekend?!). It was a couple more weeks before I could get back there. When I did, they told me it was too late to return it. The salesperson was EXTREMELY rude, and actually told me I was a liar. She did this in front of other customers as well. I called the owner to tell her what happened. She was even more rude. When I said I tried to return it Labor Day weekend but couldn't because they were closed, her reply was "We want to spend time with our families too you know". I kid you not, that was her reply. I didn't tell her that as a comment on their being closed, but only that I couldn't return it sooner because of it. She then said to me "You weren't working that weekend, were you?!" What?!?!?! All of this over a $25 bucket of grout. They have lost this customer. Good luck to anyone who patronizes this 'business.' My salesperson was friendly, but not as responsive and proactive as she needs to be. The owner, and her other female salesperson were rude, condescending, and unprofessional.
Description of Work: I purchased travertine tile and grout from them for my kitchen backsplash that was installed by someone else.
