Description of Work: Called me back & right away said he wasn't interested in the work I needed done. He had enough. He did not even recommend someone else I could try contacting. I, personally, found him to be on the rude side.

+ -1 moreI have been having huge heating bills and during investigations discovered a hole in the wall in the crawlspace that the original insulation contractor had covered with cardboard and spray foamed. End result - massive air leak under the cardboard. I called Kaufman & Sons and Cliff came out within a few days. He gave me a range of solutions and I chose to "make it right" ... it was a horrible job, pouring two new footings and building two block walls... tying them into existing wall... all in a crawl space with 2 ft of ceiling height. He gave me a "best case and worse case quote" (depending on how the job unfolded) and I asked him to go ahead. I have been studying building and construction work for many years and I can tell true experts quickly with just a few questions. Cliff was clearly an expert. He was able to schedule me sooner than originally expected and arrived punctually. The work was performed to a VERY high standard and the cleanup was excellent... absolutely zero mess (in partially finished basement [where he had to mix concrete]). He told me it went better than expected and billed me BELOW the lowest quote he gave me. Airleaks solved. Job done properly... Fair billing. Excellent communication and professional standards. Highly recommended.

Description of Work: Tuckpointed our house, filled cracks, replaced broken bricks, fixed two leaking windows. They were incredeble. If your house requires masonry repairs, don't call anyone else. These guys are the best of the best.

He not only assured us that he would use existing bricks to match what was on the home but also he would mix a mortar that would blind in with the existing mortar color. Kaufman delivered on all these promises in a timely fashion that left us very pleased with the end results.
Description of Work: He replaced broken bricks and tuck-pointed existing mortar on the exterior brick of our home. Also pointed out the existing problem for our key issue in regards to the broken bricks and cracks in our mortar lines around the front of our home.

Description of Work: He came to our house within a week of our first phone call to him. He recommended the use of a slab-jacking solution to the problem of continued settling of a corner brick wall, which was crumbling from the pressure. We contracted and set a date for that procedure; a few days before the scheduled date, he very carefully removed broken and loose bricks from that corner and set them aside. He then brought bricks that he thought would be the least conspicuous where bricks needed to be replaced. Right after the foundation was very carefully lifted up by the slab jacker and the hole in our yard was refilled, he came to put in the bricks and matched both the bricks and mortar very carefully and nicely. He also replaced the broken stone window sills. The work cost us $120 less than he stated on the original contract. He was very thorough, careful and knowledgeable and answered all of my husband's questions about the job, both before and after he completed it.

Description of Work: Jeff Kaufman replaced the chimney on my home. He was on time. His workers and he cleaned up the job site completely. No mess was left. He came back a couple of weeks after the repair to check it and re-seal the chimney again. He was respectful, professional. The bid was higher than the actual cost of the job which is always a plus. Thanks, Jeff, for doing a great job!!!
