Received three bids. One guy didn't even go up on the roof, so he was out. Hynek (that's the owner's first name) came in much lower than the other bids. One reason was that he felt that our taller chimney only needed 8 rows of bricks redone, whereas another guy wanted to replace a lot more. Everyone agreed on the shorter chimney. Hynek explained everything, we set a date, he showed up on time with a small crew. Everyone was professional, friendly, hardworking, and cleaned up everything. A first class experience. We really liked Hynek. Hynek recommended a painter (he doesn't paint chimneys) because the previous owners had painted all our bricks on the house so one chimney was now only partly white). His painter was excellent.
Description of Work: Dismantle shorter chimney to roof line, rebuild with flue liners. New concrete cap, reinstall flashing and seal. Reinstall metal cap Dismantle taller chimney 8 rows of bricks, rebuild with flue liners. New concrete cap, Reinstall 3 metal caps. Additional tuckpointing as needed on taller chimney.

Hynek was one of of three companies from whom we solicited bids. We chose Hynek because they 1) had high marks from previous clients, 2) could do the job this fall as opposed to next spring, and 3) the price was competitive. They ended up doing the job a little later than what we initially expected but it was completed by the end of Oct. Overall they very professional and industrious, barely taking a break. With the exception of putting trash in our yard recycling bin instead of the one labeled "trash only" it was a perfect job. But almost every contractor we have hired makes that mistake.
Description of Work: Hynek crew dismantled chimney to roof, built back chimney with new bricks and flue liners. Installed new concrete caps with overhang, reinstalled flashing and put metal caps on top of flue. They also removed the loose mortar from front concrete steps and patched concrete with cauking

Mr. Hynek responded very promptly to my phone call and was able to come the next day to check out the chimney. His estimate of $1490 was extremely competitive with other bids I received but he was concerned about the tile roof and suggested that we should have a roofer remove tiles around the area of the chimney to guarantee none would be damaged. This would have increased the cost considerably so we ended up using another contractor. However, if the roofing tiles were not a consideration, Hynek would have been a definite contender for my business.

I obtained three estimates regarding this work-Hynek's was in the middle of the three. Hynek came out the day after I called and sent an estimate within two days. I chose him based on the detailed nature of his estimate. Also, someone from his office called to see if I had received the estmiate and if I had any questions. I did and Hynek called me back within an hour to answer some clarifying questions. I sent in a 50% downpayment and the work was scheduled for Friday, the 1st of October. The work was completed as described and the quality appears to be excellent. Hynek cleaned up and followed up with a call to ensure everything was done to my satisfaction. It was-I recommend him for services relating to brickwork.
Description of Work: I needed brick/mortar work on my chimney and less than a dozen bricks replaced around my house. In addition, I had some additional gaps which needed caulking/patching etc.

They did a fantastic job and matched the bricks as best they could ( Home is 60 years old so we didn't expect them to find the exact match). We had a miscommunication on the timing of the project and woke up saturday morning to them starting the work, but as soon as we called hynek he told his employee to stop and come back in an hour or so to avoid upsetting the neighbors. They were quick and cleaned up well. I would definitely use them again!!!
Description of Work: We had about 30-40 bricks on the side of our home that had started to rot due to water damage, Hynek const. replaced the destroyed bricks and the lime stone ledge above ( that was allowing water into the bricks)

Hynek showed up on the day and hour he said he would. The work went fast and the debris was hauled away and they cleaned up at the end of each day. The new chimney was up by the end of the second day and it looks great ! Hynek was easy to work with. He helped me find the matching bricks that I wanted and put up with my many questions after the job had started. I chose him not only because he offered the best price, I had 8 quotes, but because he made good suggestions and seemed to know what he was talking about. The job was done in three days and the clean up was so good you wouldn't even know they were here. Thank you Hynek !

My wife and I own a small (1400 sq ft) two story home. About 25% of the first floor is brick that had been previously painted over. The paint had been peeling away revealing brick in need of repair. It was difficult to find someone even willing to take on such a small job. Some of the companies with high and numerous Angie List ratings wouldn't take my project on because it wouldn't for them to do it. Hynek Construction evidently lines up small jobs and looks for an opportunity to do several of them in a single day. They came out, looked at the brick and gave me an estimate of $390. Because of the way they bundle up small jobs, they couldn't let me know when they might be able to do the work. That was fine with me. I went ahead and had someone come in and do some power washing of the brick to prepare it both for the tuckpointing and a repainting. Big mistake. The power washing removed much of the paint, revealing more needed repairs and probably actually causing more damage. When Hynek Construction came out, it was a much bigger job than before. The owner rightly explained that there was now much more work and proceeded to show me where the power washing had increased the size of the job. But he worked with me. I told him I understood and I still wanted the job done, so I asked him for a new price. Now this seems like a setup for getting ripped off, but it didn't happen. He looked at the new job with his crew waiting in the wings and added a mere $150 to bring the total up to $540. This new price was still significantly less than another estimate I had received (again before my power washing revealed more work). It was great that he was willing to work with me in what could have been a stressful situation for both of us. They did a great job. They were flexible. It wasn't a big job, but they did it...without charging me a big price.

The price was very reasonable, far below the estimate of the dominant, large tuckpointing company in the area) and comparable to other small contractors. They came exactly when they promised they would. The work was excellent: carefully done and precise. They were fast. They were very careful to protect the large plants around the chimney. They were easy to work with. It looks great. I couldn't be happier.

Hynek was very pleasant to work with. He sent me a contract to sign which I returned. It took about 2 weeks before he could fit me in. He did what he said he would do, and when he said he'd do it. I appreciated that he took the time to make sure I understood and was happy with the work. His men were polite and offered to remove their shoes when they came in to use the facilities. Everything was well organized, and was completed quickly.
Description of Work: They dismantled the chimney to the roof line, built it back with new matching brick, replaced the flue liner, installed a form and poured a new concrete cap. They finished it off by reinstalling the flashing and sealing it with Vulkem-116 caulking. They also installed a new metal cap on top of the flue liner.

Hynek responded very promptly and gave me a written estimate within a few days. He was upfront and honest and he was willing to work within my schedule of having my roof replaced. He even called me back, a week later, on the day the roofers started work to see if any touch up tuckpointing was needed as the roofer removed the old flashing. Good workmanship and easy to work with.

I found the company on Angie's list along with two others. Mr. Hynek came to our home to give an estimate within two or three days and we received the written estimate a couple of days after that. It was the most thorough estimate of the three we received and only $50 higher of the least expensive. They did the work when promised and completed it in an expeditious and thorough manner. They removed all debris and left the work site cleaner than they found it. I wholeheartedly recommend them and we have already hired the company to rebuild the interior of our fireplace.

Hynek and his colleague arrived punctually on the date agreed. They set up their scaffolding and immediately began to reconstruct the top third of the chimney. They worked steadily for three and one half days. They stayed late to complete certain parts of their work and also worked on Saturday. When it became apparent that some of the chimney stones were cracked or broken, Hynek advised that he could still use them (although there would be more smaller stones in the chimney) or he could purchase new stones. I chose to go with new stones. Hynek gave me a rough estimate for the cost of the new stones and the cost came in quite close to his estimate. The work happened to be undertaken during a period of some heavy night time thunderstorms, but the chimney was properly covered every evening and there was no damage from the rain. The small repairs to the foundation and the front stoop were completed quickly immediately after the chimney work had been accomplished. Once all of the work was finished the areas around the chimney, the foundation, and the stoop were completely cleaned up. Hynek also power washed the chimney to remove excess debris and moss. He even turned the soil in the bed at the base of the chimney, and it looked better than before his work was begun. All in all I believe we received good value from Hynek's work.
Description of Work: Due to leaks, our chimney was taken apart down to the level of the gutters. The broken limestones were replaced, the stones re-laid with fresh mortar, and a new cap was built. At the time Hynek came to provide a proposal, I had forgotten to ask him to quote on two other small repairs. However when he came to begin the chimney work, he readily revised his original proposal to include the additional tasks. I thought the entire proposal for his work was very reasonable.

Hynek was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I contracted with him to do some extensive repair on my elderly parents home. From start to finish, everything was perfect. He arrived as scheduled for the estimate. Upon acceptance of the proposal, he gave us an approx.start time which came a few days earlier. The work was done in two days, and the quality was absolutely outstanding! If every contractor had a work ethic like this man, there would be NO unhappy customers. He takes pride in his work, and considers the end result to be a reflection on his character. They worked so hard, and long hours, and strived to deliver a perfect product. I would use his services, and highly recommed him as often and whenever possible.

Hynek's workmanship is excellent and he is very courteous and professional. He takes pride in his workmanship and does his work with alacrity and enthusiasm. He is very polite and made sure that he went over his completed work and that we were satisfied. He also cleaned up every day at the end of the day and made sure that he left patio and steps clean. He also performed additional work required on the patio aluminum awning at no extra cost. This work required caulking and putting additional screws where needed. When he noticed that some of our gutters down spouts were clogged, he cleaned them without any prompting from us. He showed that he truly believes in providing the excellent customer service and cares about what other thinks of his workmanship. I would definitely recommend him to others to hire him.
