Hynek Construction responded to our inquiry immediately, and we had a contract signed the first day. Due to their backlog we did not expect the work to commence until sometime in August, but they were able to show up and complete everything in 2-days in July. Hynek Construction is friendly, thorough, professional, and pleasant. We are thrilled with the work they performed.

Hynek showed up 30 minutes early! His competitor, Fortune Restoration, didn't bother showing up. Hynek examined three two-story walls and counted all the bricks that needed to be replaced. He also caught some problem points with the chimneys. He turned around a thorough and fairly priced quote within 24 hours. When the job starts, I'm going with Hynek!

The work was great - they quickly found the issue and were able to repair it. 24 hours after the repair it was subjected to its first test and came thru with flying colors - no water leaking. They provided my pictures of the issues that led to the leaks and performed the work quickly. I am very satisfied with the result - the only negative was getting the job started (don't fax back your agreement).

The team did a great job of diagnosing the issues and putting together a competitive proposal (was the most thorough, knowledgeable, and fairly priced proposal of the 7 I received). The work was also very high quality - no major signs of their work (they cleaned everything up) except the fact that the masonry was now all caulked, sealed and flashed correctly, unlike the work of our original builder! Only complaint I have to mention was scheduling. These guys wanted to leave things very open ended and just text me a couple days before they would like to come. At one point I thought I got them to agree to a date a few weeks in advance, but they ended up texting me just a day or two before they needed to come out. They needed to make two trips so I went through this twice several weeks apart with only last minute notice - not ideal for a couple with demanding jobs! I get that Hynek has a hard time predicting their exact availability long in advance, but was a little bit frustrating. That said, I'm very happy with their work and would hire them again if I have any ongoing issues with my home.

When I called Hynek for a quote, he came out immediately and addressed my concerns. He inspected the job site and took copious notes. He did tell me I would have to wait for the work to be completed, as he has a large back-log of work. He sent me a proposal very quickly. To my surprise, he was able to complete my work on July 3! All the work was done in one day. The work looked good, and finished just as he explained. My place was cleaned up and found better than when they arrived. I would call them again for future work.

Hynek did a fantastic job. He performed the services two months earlier than expected and completed the work in half the time estimated. He also replaced some bricks at no extra charge. His team was punctual and very professional. Would highly recommend Hynek.

They are very good. They are very reasonable, friendly, no high pressure, they did very good work, and cleaned up after themselves. I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the price was.

During initial call they advised that it may be a while before they could come out as they were fully booked. I really appreciated their advising me of the true status instead of some promises that they wouldn't keep. Since there was no emergency, I contracted with them. They actually did the work sooner than I expected. They came at the time they said they would. I was very impressed with their work ethics and professionalism. I loved the results of their repairs.

I reached out to Hynek after determining that my chimney, and not my foundation, was the reason I was getting a small of amount of seepage in my basement. I filled out the request form on his website and he called me right back. Two days later, he left a vm on my cell phone saying he was in the neighborhood. Turns out he went up on my roof and diagnosed the problem. He called me to tell me what the problem was, which requires work that unfortunately he doesn't do. Anyway, he said it was free of charge! Really generous of him and much appreciated.

Every thing went well. The repair work for what I could see looked good, however, the roof still leaks and within 6 months some mortar has fallen off.

I could not say enough about Hynek Construction and the excellent work they did rebuilding my chimney which was literally crumbling off the side of my home. I had a "referral" supposedly "fix" the chimney approximately 4 years earlier so I was very surprised when the bricks just started to crumble and the whole stack started to completely disintegrate. I was very upset. Hynek gave me the fairest price and when he came out to look at the chimney initially, he took his time to explain to me what needed to be done. The crew arrived when they said they would, left the work area neat and tidy each day and when they finished the job, you would never even have known they were there except for the beautiful chimney and brickwork that was done - the area was completely cleaned up. The crew was very professional and I felt completely comfortable going to work and letting them do what they needed to do. My neighbors have all commented on the beautiful brickwork. These are honest, hardworking craftsmen and I am so pleased to have found them on Angie's list. I will refer them to everyone. Thank you so much, Hynek.

Hynek is very organized and punctual. He advised us as to when he could do the work; and he wouldn't do it if the weather could pose problems for the outcome. He is very honest and direct. He thought by doing his work a leak issue would be eliminated. If not, I'm sure he would return. But so far, so good. We couldn't be more pleased.

After years of hearing my buddy knows a guy that knows a guy that will give you a deal and might or might not show up I joined Angie's List. I needed chimney work and after reading the reviews I contacted Hynek construction. In a few day's I had a detailed proposal of the work to be done and my cost. A work crew came to my home and in a timely manner rebuilt my chimney. When the work crew was finished the work area was left neat and clean and I was left with a good looking chimney. I would highly recommend Hynek Construction if you want to deal with a professional company and professional work crew. These guy's are faster then JIMMY JOHNS. Thank you Hynek.

They were very good. They removed a satellite dish, dismantled the west chimney to the lower roof line and built it back with new bricks matching those already there. Installed clay flue liners. Installed and formed new 4" thick custom concrete cap with 1.5" overhang. Reinstalled flashing and sealed it with Vulkem-116 caulking. Installed a metal cap on second chimney clay flue liner. Replaced bricks on south chumney and tuckpoint where needed. They ended up replacing some other bricks that were damaged. Both chimneys look great now. They seemed very professional and conscious of the quality of their work. I definitely would recommend them. We called for an estimate in the Fall but he was booked up so we waited until Spring. I think they are busy because they are so good at what they do. Worth waiting for this group.

All went well. He matched my 60 year old brick very well. Good crew. Good cleanup. Others up on the roof have complimented how well the job was done.

If you are reading this review and are unsure on whether to use Hynek for any reason, rest assured, look no further. My project was delicate in that the front corner wall next to a window had bowed outward because of foundation settling. I wanted it fixed for aesthetic reasons. I called 5 different masons and found Hynek on Angies List. He was prompt, evaluated the work, sent me a proposal the next day and answered all questions in a timely and professional manner. While his estimate/proposal is rather simplistic, don't be fooled by all the fluff the other Masons include in an attempt to try and justify a much higher price tag. The work was scheduled and David, one of his masons, arrived on the day with Hynek to discuss the project. Here is the kicker- when I came home from work that day, the wall has been broken down and rebuilt but there was still a gap above the wood beam by the window and that is not what I wanted. Hynek came out that evening, agreed right away, and the next day the work was undone and David rebuilt it again. The first time the rebuild was perfectly level but artistry was required here to ensure the wall was flush with the wood beam, window, corner and still give the appearance of it being level. David was terrific and the second rebuild turned out great. There were some bricks that got damaged during the demo and the match of the replacements was good enough that nobody would notice. The rest of the work was all done without problem and looked very good. The range of $ estimates from the various masons was quite significant and Hynek was not the least expensive but also not the highest. He told me to "trust" in him which is what I did and in the end, could not be happier and would have no hesitation in using him again. David was very nice throughout the project. Hynek easily reachable and very responsive to all matters.

I'm really impressed with how responsive, detailed and professional their quote was. I look forward to working with them in the future.

The job was excellent. Hynek and his crew were very professional and thorough. The work began on a cold January month. When the windows were resized we had to wait for the new windows to be delivered. Hynek and his crew made sure the openings were covered and secured in order to keep my house warm and to keep out any unwelcomed creatures. Once the new windows were installed, Hynek and his crew did an amazing job on the brick work, considering the cold temperatures. The bricks matched perfectly with the existing bricks around the house. I will definitely call Hynek Construction the next time I need brick work!

Hyneck and his team were really good, they are true professionals, very polite, careful and cleaned up when they were done with the job. Not being someone who knows much about what was involved, all I tell you is that we are happy with the work Hynek's team has done for us. This was not a small job, it was a lot of money for us, Hyneck was on time and on budget so that's very much reassuring. Some of our neighbours commented on how good the building looks after the work was completed and asked for referral so that definitely means returning businesses. I am very happy Hynek took care of our home.

hynek was by far one of the more professional contractors i've worked with on this rehab of a 2 flat in edgewater...always quick to respond and showed up on time...hynek started his work on our parapet wall and chimney and in order for him to finish we had to wait on our roofer to finish which took 3 weeks...once we called hynek back out to finish with the copings on our parapet when the roof was complete he was quick to schedule us in and finish our work...i would 100% recommend hynek construction and of course i will be using them again in spring of 2014 for front step repair/replace and replacing our gangway as well...

We'd originally contacted Hynek for caulking the foundation and some tuckpointing. During his review for that work, he pointed out that the (60+ year old) garage bricks were deteriorating and that the mortar between some of the limestone bricks on top of the garage was gone. Hynek and crew arrived on time and quickly began dismantling the old brick work. At that time, we also discussed replacing the design that had originally been built into the face of the garage. By the end of the first day, they'd completed removing the old brick and had brought in a supply of new bricks to replace those that were too porous to continue using. They finished all the work by the second day. After the mortar had a few days to cure, Hynek came back to finish caulking the lintels. The work looks great! They did a great job matching the new brick to the old and the clean up was fantastic. I'd definitely use them again.

While in the basement, we noticed a small crack of light coming in from the outside next to what we thought was the edge of the chimney. There was also some loose cement in the area that we thought needed to be repaired. We were concerned about mice getting through the crack, as well as possible structural problems from the loose cement, so we called Hynek Construction. They said they were completely booked for the season, but if the work could be done from the inside, they would be able to work on a day when it was raining. Someone came out the next day to do an estimate, and he quickly determined that it wasn't the chimney area, it was a back door next to it. The stairs outside obscured the crack, but he said we could easily fix the problem ourselves using a can of spray foam from the inside. He said we could also use the foam to hold the loose cement. We were very happy with his suggestion, and the time he took to explain things to us.

I obtained a variety of quotes. This was one of the lowest, but the quality of the work was excellent. We had to wait for several months, but we were promised that it would be done by the end of October and it was. Everyone at Hynek was courteous and they seemed to be very efficient. They also reimbursed us for work that did not need to be done and for a broken glass table top.
