Description of Work: A ceiling fan was installed in an upstairs bedroom. It was very hot. The workers were courteous and did a very nice job. I was very happy with the professionalism and competence of the gentlemen doing the work.

Description of Work: Gary and his helper came to remove and old and no longer used steam heating pipe that ran half the length of the basement and on into the garage. Back in the day, they used to heat garages with very large radiators that hung on the walls. We don't do it that way anymore so this pipe was no longer needed. With this old pipe removed I could use the space in new and more effective ways. Gary and company came and did the job neatly and within the agreed upon time frame. They swept and cleaned up afterwards. Gary is a polite and courteous young man and I will very likely hire him for future projects as they arise. This was my first time using this service and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Description of Work: Gary has performed work for us on two occasions. In March 2012 we needed some miscellaneous and minor repairs (storm door not shutting correctly, portion of deck requiring repair). In early June we again used Gary (his assistant Carlos actually performed the work this time) to grind down rusty patches on our bedroom deck railing and then to treat it with rust resistant paint and finally to apply a final coat of paint. During the June work a funny thing happened--something we've never experienced in the 3 decades we've been using contractors. Gary called to say that the paint job on our deck railing actually took a few hours less than he'd expected so he was charging us $200 less!!!! We have never had anyone do that. What an honest, ethical person he is. We highly recommend him.

Description of Work: Vent repair and gutter repair.

Description of Work: Gary repaired and replaced an in wall access panel for the built in washer and dryer in our Lincoln Park condo. He then painted the room and hung some drapery rods.

Description of Work: Fixed my closet door; attached knobs to my cabinets; attached ha ndles to my new refrigerator; attached felt pads to the bottom of my dining room table legs; fixed my dining room table leg and fixed the lazy susan inside my cabinet.

Description of Work: A few months ago I bought a deal of 2 hours of handyman work for a lower price from Gary's Handyman Service. I put off using the coupon until now and am sorry I didn't connect with Gary sooner. We emailed back and forth (my preferred method of communication) and I told Gary the nature of the tasks I had for him to work on. Gary estimated the time needed to complete the tasks and even though I could only have him come on a Wednesday morning he was able to book an appointment for just 2 weeks in the future. Gary did several jobs of light plumbing and electrical work, some hinge work on my cabinets, replaced seat bottoms of my dining room chairs and figured out how to make 2 unclose-able doors close. He even went to the hardware store to pick up some screws needed to do the job, when I failed to leave the right ones. Gary completed all tasks quickly and efficiently and left the house as if he was never there. There was not a bit of sawdust, packaging, dirty finger print or any of the annoying leave-behinds I come to associate after having a worker in my home. Gary estimated almost up to the minute how long it would take him to complete the punch list I left him even though he had never been in my home before.

Description of Work: Gary's Handyman Service has performed several jobs for me (see below). The most recent was a complete bathroom remodel that included moving a wall, rerouting (replacing) plumbing, and extensive electrical work. The work was phenomenal, the workers professional, and my satisfaction is A+.

Description of Work: chaulk two bathrooms and secure sink to wall, also repair french doors.

Description of Work: I asked Gary to re-caulk our master bathroom sinks and tub. I also asked him to spackle some holes in our walls.

Description of Work: For this particular job Gary fixed a sticky bathroom door and a rear privacy fence panel. The job was done within the time estimates he provided and as always of high quality.

Description of Work: He fixed one of my doors. He also caulked the tub.

Description of Work: Adjusted front storm door back on its hinges, replaced closer, adjusted lock, replaced many screws.

Description of Work: Fixed leak under sink, repaired light in bathroom, repaired faucet in bathroom, changed lock on outside gate and repaired garage door lock.

Description of Work: Gary was able to fix a lot of things around my house, outside porch light, new house numbers put on, back stairs railing, the soffet, and the door bell.

Description of Work: First contacted Gary to power wash and restain our back deck, but added a very long list of additional items including: fixing handles on doors, caulking around tub, repair and paint drywall, snake tub and sink, re-ground front entry, caulk around kitchen sink, repair screen door, paint front entry door, paint shudders, paint awning above side door, re-paint iron railings, power wash sidewalks.

Description of Work: He painted in my home and put on a security device on my barbecue grill that was outside. He also replaced batteries in my smoke detectors. He sends a reminder to have the batteries changed as well. He replaced some molding and hung pictures.

Description of Work: Needed exhaust fans in both bathrooms replaced. One bathroom is as old as the house which is 58 years. When we moved in 30 years ago, the previous owner had an exhaust fan in but had it exhausting into the attic! Gary ran the silver tubing out thru the roof of the attic and as a result, took him much longer than I think he expected but did not charge me anymore! ;-) The other bathroom is from an addition which is about 18 years old so that exhaust fan was much easier for Gary to replace. My toilet in the excisting bathroom was as old as the house and needed replacing because it would not flush in one flush. This also took Gary quite a long time but he got it and never complained and did not charge me any extra for the aggrevation and smell!! ;-( He caulked by the tile and told us not to use the bathroom for 24 hours so the caulk will set. I asked him why we could not use the shower and Gary stated that the moisture might prolong the caulk from drying completely. My old bathtub drain also needed to be cleared and Gary used a snake gadget and it works!! Everything works great!
