CUSTOM LANDSCAPING

Horrible paver work. They might be good at other landscaping work, but really bad at paver work. They used lots of broken bricks to build the retaining wall. When I complained , the worker said "I talk too much". Jaime never comes to chak their work. All they are interested is to do the job and make money. They don't care about doing a good job so that the customer will be satisfied. I paid them in full because they told me that they would come back to replace all the bad bricks it. Jaime doesn't respond to any email (now that I have paid them in full). Horrible.

The project was completed in six workdays. The owner, Jaime Portillo, priced competitively. His team was meticulous in all stages of the work. They were very skilled. It was amazing to watch their dexterity using the Bobcat to demolish the old concrete. They used the forklift as though it were an extension of their fingers. The granite border was irregular and required lots of cutting. They made sure every joint looks good. Jaime even stopped by Thanksgiving morning to ensure the sand was properly treated before the expected rain. The end result is gorgeous. We couldn’t be more pleased. We wholeheartedly recommend Custom Landscaping in Naperville.

Jaime was present everyday of construction for at least part of the day (he would leave for short periods of time to give other estimates or check on work his other crews were doing). Many days he was there most of the day. His crew generally consisted of two men and and some days three. They were all experts at installing paver stones. We watched in amazement as they put together our patio with skill and care. The walls, border and steps took more time than I would have thought until I saw all the prep work needed to insure a stable structure. We had pillars put in at the end of the walls and they interlaced the quarry stone into the pillars so there would never be a separation between the walls and the pillars. Laying the pavers for the floor went very fast. But then a lot of time was needed to cut stone so the flooring synced up with the borders. Be aware, there will be massive amounts of dust created when the pavers are cut. Nothing to do about that except invite the neighbors over for drinks once the patio is finished. Finally, the fire pit. We had seen a fire pit on a vacation that was gas and was filled in with black lava rock. That's what we wanted for ours. Jaime's crew handled all the gas line construction under the patio leading to the fire pit, the installation of the starter mechanism, the gas burners and the installation of the lava rock. Jaime also suggested we might want to add a short line coming out of our house to where my grill was in case I would ever want to switch from propane to gas. I thought that was a good idea so they did that at no charge. Once construction was completed, they put down new sod to give the patio a completed look. I forgot to mention that all during construction, they used a bobcat to haul all of the various materials to the job site, so everyday, they would lay down plywood on our lawn for the bobcat to drive on and then they would take that up at night when they were finished. So, how do we like our new patio. Besides having the best looking patio I've ever seen (a bit prejudiced) the fire pit is more than we could have hoped for. The first night we could spend on the patio, we set around the fire pit until 1am listening to music and watching the flames play on top of the lava rocks. Hopefully, I will be able to include some pictures of the completed patio for everyone to see. It was worth every penny we spent and can highly recommend Jaime and Custom Landscaping of Naperville.

Custom Landscaping did a large yard renovation for us which included design, purchase of plants, installation, and ongoing maintenance. The company also did a paver brick fire pit for us. Custom Landscape was less expensive than competitors and still delivered what competitors had promised, and more. We have used Custom Landscaping time and time again. In 2011, we still recommend Custom Landscaping.
