I reached out to Ron in a panic after there was a break in a plumbing line which started flooding a storage room. Ron was out at the property within the hour, charged a VERY reasonable price, and did this over a holiday weekend. I couldn't be more grateful to have stumbled across Ron and Metropolitan Plumbing. He is my go-to plumber moving forward. Thanks Ron!

Ron did an excellent job on repiping my entire home. He arrived on time and did excellent work. He was very professional cleaning up the area and leaving it the way he found it. His quote was by far the lowest estimate I received. Glad I found a great plumber.

I have had to call many plumbers over the course of 30 years. All of them were competent and they did a good job. I suspect that most plumbers called will probably do a good job. Metropolitan Plumbing is the exception. Ron Hartman ‘s work is and has always been exceptional. What makes him so is that this guy is by far the most intelligent plumber I’ve ever met, and he is an artist. These qualities allow him to see the problem and cheat the gods of Murphy’s Law. I trust only Metropolitan Plumbing. No others. My next project is to remodel my 100 year old bathroom and Mr. Harman will be central in that endeavor.

I've had Ron complete several projects for me in my home over the past couple of years, including: new toilet install in basement, busted pipe that attaches to outside hose, sink/vanity install, water heater install and a bathtub waste overflow drain replacement. I've spent well over $2000 with him. It was his last visit that prompted me to write this review, and also take note of some of things I overlooked during previous work. During his last visit, he was to replace the bathtub drain plumbing. Was quoted $250. During the visit, he called to tell me my tub was corroded and he wasn't sure if the fix was going to hold. Complained about previous workmanship. Said to call him if it leaked after he was done. The next day, it was leaking worse than before he "fixed" it. I called him and he said I'd likely have to get a new bathtub. Then, said he'd "call a guy" who knew how to do fiberglass repair, though he could not verify if my tub was cast iron or fiberglass. A day or so later, he said he wanted to come out and take a look at it again and try another fix. I assumed there would be no charge, or a nominal one, since at this point, he's fixing/replacing *his* mistake. If I had known his 2nd attempt would cost me $300, I'd never have let him back in my house. I was shocked when he said my new total would be $550. How the 2nd attempt to fix was more than the first one, I'll never know. Once I had finally calmed down, I came home from work to find an absolute MESS in my basement. There was water everywhere, brown wood dust splattered all over the walls, toilet and floor. Pieces of epoxy, caulk, rubber bits on the floor. Two rugs were soaked. The water left behind caused my floor paint to come up. And to top it all off, there was epoxy on a scarf that was nowhere near where he was working. I don't know if he thought it was a shop towel or what! I spent over two hours cleaning up his mess and re-painting the floor. The scarf had to be thrown out. It was during this last fiasco that I remembered a few other details from previous jobs. When he replaced the water heater, the water main knob wasn't tightened all the way after he turned it back on and it leaked and soaked one of my rugs. When he did the sink and vanity install, it also leaked after he was done and had to come back out and tighten/adjust. And when he did the basement toilet install, I was also left with quite a mess. I also was frustrated that during our water heater install, he said that if we got our own water heater from Lowe's/Home Depot, he could not guarantee the work. We had found a much cheaper water heater that would have suited our needs, but I felt pressured to let him pick out one since he said if there were any problems down the line, he'd have to charge me to come out and fix it. I feel like someone who's been in the plumbing business 35 years should be confident enough in their work that the water heater brand should not matter. See attached photos for mess that was left behind after tub drain was replaced 06/2019. Needless to say, I'm done.

Ron did a really nice job. He communicated with us regularly about his schedule, and showed up when he said he would. He is really good natured and easy going. He ran into a minor snag, as often happens working with old plumbing, and took care of the issue promptly and professionally. We enjoyed working with Ron, felt his pricing was fair, and are pleased with his work. We would hire him again in a heartbeat.

I called Ron at about 9AM and asked if he'd be able to make the repair that day. He said that he had other projects going but would be able to make it by early afternoon. Ron called several times to update me on when he would be over to repair the pipe Which I appreciated since I hate waiting through the four hour window most companies provide. When he came to my house he explained exactly what he needed to do, went and bought a piece and imesiatly came back and repaired the leak. The work was all done within an hour. I had called other companies prior to calling Ron and was quoted nearly double what he charged me. I felt like I could trust Ron more than I would've been willing to trust someone working for a company. He was friendly and personable. I am very happy with his work and will be using him again in the future.

I found Ron (Metropolitan Plumbing - one and the same) through an ad after several attempts to hire a plumber through several area plumbing companies. I recently closed on a home that we had been renting for some time, and had plans to remodel - starting with the bathroom. The intent was to have a plumber go over the whole house to address any issues - some were known, others we had questions about, as well as to redo the plumbing for a bathroom remodel (torn down to the studs then rebuilt). What we found when looking for plumbers is that like many contractors, they want to do full house/new construction only - such that they can get $5K+ jobs in one shot. It's tougher to find good plumbers at reasonable rates who will do this kind of updating. Ron stated this kind of work was his specialty. After giving Ron the whole house tour of the plumbing, he gave me a quote within a day or so, which included new water supply valves, shower/tub kit, vanity faucet, pipe runs, and labor to do the job. He started the work a couple of days later, installing the water supply valves, new pipe run below the kitchen, and the conversion of the bath only to bath/shower setup in the bathroom wall. A special note: I had Ron source the new valves, shower/tub setup, and vanity faucet through his plumbing supplier. The and quot;realand quot; major name brand plumbing gear - the best quality - is sourced through plumbing suppliers and not from big box home improvement stores off the shelf. What you see in stock at big boxes are specially made for those retailers and are often an inferior product which are not the and quot;universaland quot; inner workings those manufacturers sell to specialty stores and plumbing wholesalers. Yes, those big box stores can order the better stuff for you - but you had better know what you are doing, as the internals are NOT always the same inside with the lower priced stuff. So when you replace your faucets or shower rig - get the better product sold through plumbing wholesalers and the better specialty stores. Ron sourced all of the hardware through his Delta authorized distributor, so we know we got the right hardware - and he sold it to us at a competitive price (and yes, we had checked prices on the better options). Once the primary work was done, I arranged with Ron to do the final install of the shower/tub fixtures, vanity with new faucet, and fresh install of the toilet with new flange and seal, as well as a and quot;found laterand quot; smaller than pinhole leak in a joint of the kitchen sink cold water supply, just to make sure that the bathroom got a professional install after all of the drywall, paint and tile work. He returned after the bath remodel work was done to do these finishing details and top off our bath remodel the right way. There are two kinds of plumbers/contractors: There are those who do and quot;handymanand quot; quality work, and there are CRAFTSPEOPLE. Ron is the latter. He's also an artist in his spare time, so there's more than a tangential connection to looking at his trade as and quot;artand quot;. It's true of every person you might consider hiring for home improvement, whether it's drywall, electrical, paint, or tile - the and quot;artistsand quot; are the ones you want to hire if you want it done right - those who go beyond the basic job and get the details right so it looks right as well as works right. So not only did we find a plumber to do the necessary work, we found a plumber PERIOD, who will be called when we rebuild the kitchen - or any time we need plumbing issues addressed - Ron will get that work. Plumbing isn't cheap, but considering all that he did for that $1265 - everything described above - a very good value. I would also add that I much prefer dealing with individuals instead of larger companies - the one selling us the job is the one DOING the job, so there's no miscommunication and a full understanding of what we want. Ron also gets to keepall of the fruits of his labor - low overhead that he can pass the savings on to you. So on every front - price, quality of work, timeliness, and just a really good guy to work with - my highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Converted tub plumbing to tub/shower plumbing and installed all new shower valve, shower head, and tub spout, replaced drainpipe from bath vanity and installed new vanity and faucet, installed toilet, replaced water supply shutoff valves at two toilets and two sinks, replaced shutoff valve along the main water supply in, removed and replaced drain pipe section from kitchen running through basement, repaired leak at copper pipe joint on cold water supply below kitchen sink.
