BLACK TIE FLOORING SVC

When the company called to set up the installation they left a message. We promptly returned the call he same day and left a message but did not receive a call back. We left 2 more messages in the days that followed and still did not get a call back. We were finally able to talk to someone a week and a half later. When the installers arrived, they came into the house without knocking. They did not even introduce themselves at any point. The installation of the carpet was satisfactory except for the fact that they covered up a gas access valve. What was most disappointing is that the installers removed the transition piece from our wood flooring and did not know how to reinstall it. They put it back on crooked and bowing and did not offer to repair it. I had to insist that their company fix it and they seemed initially reluctant to do so. I overheard the conversation on the phone between the installer and his boss. The boss was angry. I did not expect this type of response. I had to call Crew2 and Home Depot to get action. Black Tie sent their wood flooring installer out later that day, unfortunately he did not bring the materials he needed to fix it. Their office called and said they would call us back to set up a time for someone to fix the transition piece and and uncover the gas valve they carpeted over. We had agreed that the best time would be after 5pm. They never called back but sent someone at 6:50 am two days later. We had to ask him to come back after 5pm. He did come back and everything was fixed to our satisfaction at that point. I will not get flooring installed by Black Tie again. Their level of customer service did not meet our expectations. The mistakes that were made were not major, it was the way the company responded that was the issue.

Black Tie did a fantastic job! Our wood flooring is beautiful. They were great to work with from start to finish, including advising me on the most cost effective ways to get the look I wanted, i.e., what was worth spending money on and what was not. It's great that when Black Tie installs your flooring, you can get ANY flooring you want. They actually have a good selection, but you're not limited to that. They will get the materials from anywhere, and price it reasonably. When we sold our first house, and had to be able to move into the new one (which needed all new flooring) their carpenters worked late into the night so that we could move in on time! Even though what was a big project to us was a small one to their company, the owner took a personal interest in making sure the job was done well. I recommend them most highly.

I had no complaints. They a did a real good job, and I needed it done quickly.

When everything dried there was a lot of dust dried in the varnish. There are spots where it's thin and other spots where the finish puddled. The finish did not even seem to harden, and our chairs have left marks and still do. We contacted them about the problems, and they said to let it sit a year, and they would make it right. The owner finally came out with another gentleman. We showed them the problems we were having, and they did refund half of our money. However, we are still left with a floor that we are not happy with. We are really disappointed with the final results. The end result is not very professional looking. I will not use them again.
