Description of Work: We can't say enough good things about Chris and his team! We had an old deck demolished and trees removed, and a new brick patio installed. They we reliable, punctual, accommodating, worked their tails off in terrible heat/humidity, and always stayed in contact and provided updates as promised. We would highly recommend Hook's and will definitely use them again!

Description of Work: I hired Hooks' Landscaping LLC. to plant bushes, add bull nose edging and to apply mulch around my home. I first problem was that we discuss placing the bull nose edging around my home. They put the edging around half my home, when I told them we had discuss the entire front of my home, Mr Hook attempted to argue with me saying I did not request the entire front of my home to have the bull nose edging. That is not true, I made myself very clear. Why would anyone put new edging around half of their home it does not my sense. Of course he he do it if I paid an additional $ 320.00. I did pay this. 2 weeks after Mr. hooks completed my landscaping. I call him to complain that he did not put tarp under the mulch as we had discussed. Again, he claim we never had that conversation regarding the tarp under the mulch. NOT TRUE!! He was yelling at me over the telephone. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. Of course he could do the placement of tarp under the mulch, but he would have to charge me again. I said absolutely not. I refused to let Hook's Landscaping near my home again. Mr. Hook said the job is complete and he hung up the telephone on me. I am incredibly upset and disappointed that Hook's Landscaping was so disrespectful to a paying customer. Please DO NOT allow the company on your property. What a nightmare. No, we will never use them again. VERY, VERY , VERY unhappy customers in Tinley Park, IL

 + 0 moreFrom start to finish, Chris was a pleasure to work with. He helped us with our project by visiting us several times to give us recommendations on how to change the look of our front yard. We moved into a house that had bushes and trees blocking the front entrance of our home. We knew we wanted to change it and we had ideas but Chris helped us finalize...and of course executed them! He was punctual for his visits and return calls and professional all along the way. He is very knowledgeable in landscaping and we trusted him from the start. His team was on time, clean and worked very efficient. They cleaned up after the work was done and I now have a new looking house! Thanks Chris! We will use him in the future when other landscaping projects come up.
Description of Work: Re-landscaped front yard. Removed tree (and grinded stump) and bushes and replanted other bushes. Mulched.

He was always prompt, super curtoeus, showed up on time, and did an outstanding job. I must have driven him nuts with all my additional inquiries for other services, but he was always curteous and got right back to me. He was real pleasure to work with and just an all around good and honest person. I cannot believe how great of job him and his team did on reinstalling my failing reatining walls - it looks better than new! I will definitely be giving Chris my business for all my needs in the future and will be spreading the word to whomever in is the market for landscaping services to go with Hooks. The cost of signing up for Angie's List was well worth the price of finding such an exceptional landscaping outfit. Plan on having him out next year to replace all my plastic landscaping border with pavers.

 + 0 moreHad a wonderful time working with Chris - he was prompt in returning my call, quick to come out & provide an estimate and make the whole job easier by breaking it down into manageable parts. When his crew arrived Monday morning they immediately began to cut down the old dead or unwanted bushes & shrubs. They cleaned out the roots & reset the retaining wall. Then they moved to the patio & reset the stones & power washed everything. They transplanted a large evergreen and reset new edging. They worked on both the front and back of the house. Now that the site is clean, Chris is working with a digital representation of what the yard will look like with new plants. I will be able to see what it'll look like before they plant - helps determine what plants to use. Chris is great at keeping in touch - letting me know when the crew would be here, how long and when they'd leave. His crew were very polite and cleaned up the debris & mud from everywhere. They had great tools to work with and the whole job went quickly. I would & have hired Chris to do the next phase and will have him be my go-to landscaper for future needs. Great guy to work with.

We had had three other landscapers come out for estimates & while they were nice, Chris went out of his way to accommodate me & my schedule, all the while being so genuine. Hooks prices were more than competitive, beating out the other estimates. Chris is extremely knowledgeable in his field & was more than happy to offer advice & answer any of my questions. The estimate was prompt & thorough & after we decided to use his services, a date was quickly established to begin the work. The job actually went earlier than expected & the men working had all the tasks earlier than predicted. The work & results look flawless & we couldn't be happier. Chris & his team went out of their way to make things perfect for us & we truly appreciate that.
Description of Work: Removed a dead bush & replaced it with a different one more fitting to the space & elements. Added stones to all of our flowerbeds (stones previously existed but were extremely low/bare). Cut out a root that was causing bricks in our walkway to become uneven & subsequently corrected the bricks. Fixed our broken down spouts. Adhered loose & broken tiles on our patio. Aerated the yard.

 + 0 moreFrom beginning to end this company was amazing! From the estimate to sweeping up the last piece of dirt they were exceptional. They even moved the left over dirt to the front yard so we can build a berm. The patio looks amazing and they varied the color of bricks and made a really beautiful pattern. They even installed sod around the edges for a totally finished look. Every rock, blade of grass and spec of dirt was cleaned up as well. They even helped my husband moved the hot tub on to the new patio! We are extremely pleased!!! We would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone!!!

 + 0 moreWe need some decades old landscaping removed from around our home and shed. A good number of dead bushes had to be removed, overgrown trees trimmed back, and other areas cleaned up. Spoke with Chris and he came out within a few days to look around the home and provide a quote. Quote given was very reasonable and the job was done in a timely fashion. Very pleased with the results. Would definitely hire again for any future landscaping projects (in fact, have another larger landscape/paver project scheduled with Hook's for the end of July). Workers were polite, professional and arrived on time. Great experience.

It looks great, was reasonably priced, and is a quality home improvement. The pavers compliment the bricks on my home. Chris Hook is very good about returning calls and answering questions. He is very knowledgeable about installing pavers and offers valuable suggestions. I would call Hook's Landscaping for any other paver project in the future.
Description of Work: Concrete porch and apron were removed. Brick pavers were installed on the front porch and apron.

 + 1 moreHooks Landscaping LLC Steve came out on the sale call and did the estimate. And Chris and Steve both came out on the install. This was last week. The estimate was $ 1950 and they gave us a discount to $1800. The work was done professionally,courteous, on time, actually ahead of schedule.

Hook came out promptly looked at the existing patio....took a few minutes then gave us a reasonable quote. We hired them on the spot. The quality of the work is excellent and Chris was very professional and personable. I would highly recommend this company for any paver/landscaping needs.  + -1 moreChris came out and gave us an estimate. He was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. After we compared other estimates to Chris', we decided to go with his proposal. We selected him because his price was fair and he was the only one that described in detail exactly how he was planning to build the new patio and step. The day of the project, he and his crew arrived at the time he'd promised. His workers knew exactly what was to be done. This let me know that Chris thoroughly communicated to his workers the project plan. After three days, as promised, we had our brand new patio and door step. We are very, very pleased. We would definitely recommend Hook's Landscaping to anyone that asks us if we know a reliable company for hardscapes or asks who built our lovely patio. Thanks for a great job Chris!!!!!!
Description of Work: Hook's replaced an old broken up, uneven patio. The existing patio was so damaged that it was dangerous to walk on. I am disabled and walk with a cane and had tripped and fallen on the existing patio twice within a 10 month period.

The work speaks for itself, and when the were done, it was if they were almost not there the cleanup was performed so well.

 + -1 moreOverall the owner Chris was not even interested in trying to accommodate my request after hearing my voice. very bad business practice.
Description of Work: I called Cris on 5/3/11 to see if I could get an estimate on having a paver patio installed. Chris answered the phone and I stated to him that I would like to have someone come out to do a estimate in a patio. Chris asked were I live and I told him my location in which he said that it was to far and that they do not come out that far. I said ok. In the company discription they say that they service cook, will and du page county. I live in will county and live only 13 miles from hooks and do not understand how I can live so close to them, even closer than Dupage county but he refuse to even come out to give an estimate. I feel that you should not advertise that you service a certain county when you do not. I also believe that 13 miles which is only about 30 to 40 mins away is not to unreasonable to travel for a job that would have paid a minimum of $7500.00 dollars for a 832sq ft. patio. I would not recommend this company to anyone for service.

 + 0 moreThis company did excellent work from start to finish. Chris came out to give us an estimate and was professional, on time and explained exactly what they would do. He made suggestions and encouraged us to talk to other companies. The bid was fair and competitive with the others we heard, but we felt more was offered in the Hook's bid. When we took the bid, we got an estimated start date and were contacted when they would come. The workers did an excellent job and had the job done in less than 2 days. Chris came back to follow up on the job done. He was patient with all our questions and one of the most professional workers we have ever dealt with. We even had his company come back to do landscaping work for us. I would highly recommend this company.
