A Professional Heating & Cooling is a customer focused heating and air-conditioning company that was originally started in 1980. Main Office located in Mokena Illinois, we employ highly trained people whose goal is to make our company the best service company in Chicago and suburbs. Our company specializes in designing, engineering, and installing complete comfort systems for owners of existing homes and buildings just like yours. We take special pride in the craftsmen we train and employ--a fact you'll notice immediately in the attitude and integrity they bring to your job site. Our entire company works hard to make your experience with us hassle-free and enjoyable. Should we make a mistake, we will do everything in our power to correct it to your satisfaction. From the professionalism of our sales engineers, to the dedication of our field personnel, we are dedicated to delivering you the best. We take our responsibility very seriously when you place your trust in us. We pledge to always tell you up front what your cost will be to complete your job correctly. We make it a point to go over any details or limitations of the proposed system that will affect your enjoyment of the end result. You are told exactly what to expect up front. We back this philosophy with our exclusive written guarantee when choosing A Professional Heating & Cooling, Inc. to contract your job. “If at any time during the first year of installation, you are not 100% satisfied, with the performance of the equipment, our service or even our people, we will, within 30 days of your request, remove the system and cheerfully refund the entire amount of the contract.” Compare our guarantee with the limitations, fine print and exclusions other companies tend to use to back their work today. Others will typically guarantee only the functionality of the equipment--not your satisfaction with the process or that the finished job lives up to your expectations. This is why A Professional Heating & Cooling continues growing with more satisfied customers each and every year. Give us a call for your service needs and see what you've been missing. Upon moving into our current house in 2011, we purchased a furnace inspection prior to the coming winter. Upon inspecting our furnace, the technician determined a component was broken, costing $1600 to fix. The company claimed that there was a current federal tax refund of $600 if we replaced, rather than repaired, our current furnace. The proposed price differential, factoring in added energy efficiency and the tax refund, was low enough that we replaced the unit. The work was completed, the furnace ran, and we had few complaints. In the spring of 2012, I determined that there was no $600 tax credit...the tax credit was substantially less. During summer of 2012, we had our AC inspected by a different company. They found that the copper pipe that fed the freon to our central distribution had been forcibly bent and cracked during the installation of the furnace. The crack was such that the freon would have forcibly escaped. That is, "A Professional Heating and Cooling" would assuredly have known that the pipe was broken, but they decided to cover the mistake rather than fixing it. I had photo evidence that they were the ones to bent the copper freon pipe. After much arm bending, "A Professional Heating and Cooling" agreed to fix the copper pipe and refill the freon. I agreed to not write a negative review on Angies List or file any other complaints. Why am I writing this review now? Over the last month, we noticed our AC went from nominal performance to non-existent cooling performance. We had the AC unit checked by a different AC technician. He immediately identified that the valves on my AC unit were leaking and we had almost no freon left. The valve issue wouldn't normally be a significant issue because the valve cap has a rubber gasket that seals the feon in. The cap that the "A Professional Heating and Cooling" used had a missing gasket, letting my very expensive freon leak out over the next year. A leak is easily identified by simply spraying soapy water onto the capped valve. Given that the value was spewing freon, a simple check of the function of the cap should be a given. This they evidently failed to do. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I'd, in fact, stay far far away. I've had other companies on Angies List bend over backwards to correct mistakes and make us happy. This company has been about the worst we've ever utilized on Angies List.
Description of Work: Inspected furnace. Determined there was a broken component. Replaced, not repaired, the broken component.

The person providing service was friendly and knowledgeable. Company was good with flexible scheduling and email answering. Technician gave couple of hints about overall furnace condition and point out weak spots to look for in the future. "Furnace cleaning" was just surface vacuuming with shop-vac - so I don't think cleaning service it is worth doing at all. There was no video inspection(?) despite the description in deal offer. If something breaks I would give them a call . /I would pass on check up offer/

The technician showed up on time and then took the time to walk me through what he was checking and why. I appreciated the detailed information provided, including things to watch for and future trouble-shooting tips concerning both furnace and a/c equipment. He did let me know that my furnace igniter didn't have much time left on it (maybe one more winter season) and showed me the part to explain why, but did not pressure me to purchase a new one from him at that very moment. He was thorough and knowledgable and it was overall a very positive experience!

Overall, the technician was very thorough and explained all what he was doing. He showed me that the capacitor was going bad and replaced it during service. Will definitely use them again to service my heating unit this fall which was part of the package that I purchased.
Description of Work: They came out and inspected, cleaned, serviced my air condition unit. They also found that the capacitor was showing low amps and replaced with discount for being a member.

The deal was OK. I don't think anything was wrong with it. The guy came, checked eveyrthing, cleaned eveyrthing and what he found was the amount of coolant was not sufficient and what he did was fill it up and because it's a pretty expensive substance he actually sold it to me. He said once we start using it, we would not know how much we would need to put in without actually finishing it too quickly. I was facing an uncertain outcome where 1 pound of this stuff is $80 and you don't know how much to use. So we needed 2 pounds of this stuff so on top of the cost of the service we had to pay an extra $50 Which was OK I guess. I wish I knew this. The AC was running and I didn't have any complaints about it, so the only reason I took his offer was because we were selling our house and the inspection was due t happen the next day so we thought that if a professional technician would look at it and check everything the inspection would go well.

My technician Dennis was professional and curteous. However, my central air unit has not performed as well as it did since they did their work. Its a three year old c/a unit, brand new. Its always worked and keep my home ice cold. Now it only keeps my home cool. I called back to explain this to John, one of the owners or managers. Instead of John sending Dennis or another tech out to follow up he decided to argue at me regarding my units performance. For this reason, I would never use their service again. John was just flat out rude and VERY unprofessional.

when I spoke with the customer I asked him what the thermostat was set at, his reply was 74 degrees. what is the temperature in the house, 74 degrees. sir if that is not cool enough for you set the thermostat where you're comfortable. Whatever you set the thermostet at that is what the temperature in the house will be. I sure do not see where I was rude. if the unit is working the way it is meant to, then we did the job right. His complaint is the air coming out of the register is not as cold as it used to be.

The service man took the coupon and proceeded to tell me how old the unit was and how it was not worth fixing, this was before even looking at it to see if it work. Secondly, after opening the a/c unit and knowing that I'd rather have it cleaned and later discuss having it fixed, he started to tell me how much a new unit would be. The tech did not want to do service on the unit and was clearly looking to get a sale out of the deal, a 8 to $10,000 dollar one at that. Lastly, while trying to prove that my a/c unit was not worth fixing, he pushed the fan and pressed on the relay (while telling me that it would not come on) the unit started to work proving him wrong. Bottom line, the unit did have issues but because I was not sure of the true state of the unit, he basically talked himself out of doing the cleaning and everything else he came to do. This tech represent the bad experiences that most new home owners fear that they'd run into. Why cant a company train a tech on how to keep and gain customers. Example: I had Nicor to send a company to look at my old boiler, he knew it was old, not sure if it worked or not, but did everything he came to do and more, finally at the end, gave me a quote for repair and for a new unit. Thats what I call service

The expected work went fine. It was done quite professionally and thoroughly. The tech who did the work was very friendly and explained what he was doing and why. The only thing that bothered me was the persistent upsell. Are you sure you don't want me to change the humidifier pad? That humidifier is kind of old, don't you want a newer one? How about a replacement UV lamp? One of the furnaces is more than 20 years old, don't you think you need a new one? Me: Is there anything wrong with it? Well no but wouldn't it be better to have a new, completely reliable one? It wasn't high pressure, but it was persistent. If I had gone along with even half of the suggestions, the cost would have ballooned by $300-$500.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !! For whatever reason, the provider never did provide any service. After waiting for over a couple of months, Angie's List is refunding my fees.
