The entire process was great. Special thanks to Estimator James Christian, who did my roof inspection, then laid out the entire process for getting it replaced. Very professional and accurate. Also, thanks to the financial Manager, Wally, who walked me through the financing. Work was completed in 1 day and the clean-up process was excellent.

A Able is excellent. It all started with wind damage that caused a leak, and boom bedroom ceiling fell through. My dad is a senior citizen, and we were having trouble finding a good roofer to come out and fix the leak....much less return a phone call. When the ceiling fell through in my dad's bedroom, the seemingly minor leak turned into a big emergency. We looked up emergency roofers listed in the local village directory, instead of the internet search that was failing us for weeks. Looking on Angie's list I saw they also had good reviews on here. So, low and behold, when we called A-Abel, not only did a real live human being answer the phone (all of the other roofers we called - at least a half dozen - would not answer or return call to my voice mail messages). A-Abel got a crew out right away to put on an emergency tarp. The young guys (Mike and Zach I think) were super helpful and quick. They arrived promptly and got the tarp up in a jiffy. Then, we had a project manager Scott come to look at the roof, and after carefully assessing the situation, it appeared the damage was a lot more extensive than we were aware of, and my dad and I agreed with the plan for a new roof. Scott and Wally were both extremely helpful walking us through the process, and being patient with explaining everything to me and my senior citizen dad, and working with his insurance company. Less than a month after the emergency tarp went on, a crew was out and completed the tare down and new roof in one day. Wow! They also made sure there was not a scrap of debris in the yard....which was a challenge since it was very windy the day they did the work. Excellent job all around. It is hard to find good guys like A-Abel, and surprisingly they are located just a couple blocks away from my dad's home. A rare gem we found in our southwest suburbs, right in our neighborhood!

They did an excellent job and I even recommended them to my friend. They gave an excellent presentation, and I highly recommend them for roofing or house repairs.

We had excessive storm damage to the roof of our house gazebo and shed and gutters on the house. The owner came to do the estimate, was professional and punctual. He even came back later when requested to help us choose colors etc. The company worked with us regarding payment as we were waiting for checks from the insurance company. The work was done promptly and looks great.

They cleaned up great. It took about 4 or 5 days. I really liked the work they did. There were 7 people who completed the job. They were very professional. They lived up to their word. The owner explained everything to me.

A friend of mine had a neighbor down the street and then he gave me their number. Ironically it was the only one that was really available to do the repairs sooner than anybody else. They were the only one available before September. I think I had gone to Better Business Bureau and from a few little searches or reviews, they seem to have a positive feedback. I didn't see any problems but I used them because of their availability to do the work. He squeezed me in that was why it was done on a Saturday. He was really like in the neighborhood which may have been another reason why he felt bad for me. It was raining and the shingles were gone. First we thought the house was hit by lightning but he didn't think that was the case. One thing I kind of liked was for example he could go out and do a tarp but he would have to charge me for the trip and for the tarp so that was why he kind of squeezed me in on a Saturday because he said that would save me the money of him having to do a tarp and then waiting until I come in because I was in California so I was out of state. I thought it was just kind of nice. I wasn't able to get any other quotes unfortunately because nobody was available and I must have called 9 different companies that are in the area. Just because of the previous 2 weeks that there were winds that were 60 miles an hour, a lot of homes had a lot of damage. In fact my friend was telling me that he's driving to the store and he sees all these homes getting new roofs or getting repaired. Everybody was really backed up and busy, and he squeezed me in on a Saturday. I can't say if the price is reasonable or not. He did take pictures for me because I was not there and emailed them to me so I can see all the different areas that were damaged. My friend was seeing it from the ground up, and Abel was on the roof and took pictures down so I got a really good clear picture and the sense of the amount of damage. I have nothing negative to say. The problem is my not being there and seeing the work myself. I can only go by what my friend said and he has done some construction odd jobs and he felt it was a quality job. They were responsive and timely. I have shingles available already when the roof was reroofed. I needed a whole roof, but I did not want to put up the money yet but I might be getting some kind of other construction work done on the house. It is sort of a past job, and to save money I could use the shingles. To be perfectly honest, I thought $800 is a little high even though there were 5 areas and 1 was pretty bad. I have no idea what is reasonable and I don't have anything to compare it to. When I am buying and I am not there, I am 2,000 miles away and all I know is I don't want any more damage to my house especially when it is already pouring everyday. I'm told he did a good job and it was clean. It was not like stuff was left lying around. My friend did not go up on the roof and inspect it but from the ground visually, he said they did a good job. He has a little more knowledge because he himself has done some roofing in the past when he was much younger. I didn't want him going up on our roof at his age. I will be going there in about a month. I will be able to see it. Considering the other 9 companies that I called, I did have 1 or 2 that did not even return my call. I left a message and I was told by several others, everybody is backed up and busy. The fact that he did respond and squeezed me in, maybe it was kind of like helping a neighbor. He is only like a mile away from me and I am somehow just 30 miles away from his business.

Jeff Abel inspected the roof on 11/18/13, went into great detail about the work that would be performed, took phone pictures of damage to the roof and was the only roofer who did an attic inspection to see for himself where there were leaks. I've been a homeowner for almost 50 years and have never had a company do such a thorough clean up - there were no nails, no shingles left on the ground. I set up a table in the garage for coffee and doughnuts for the crew and before they left they even swept out the garage! They were all courteous and friendly but worked hard to get this job completed before really bad weather set in.

I called Abel to request a quote for a new roof on 08-20-2013 and the owner, Jeff Abel, answered the phone. The next day he dropped off a beautiful proposal package which included shingle samples and a list containing over 50 jobs completed in my area with 2 of the jobs located in my village. After receiving 6-7 more quotes, I narrowed my selection down to two companies - one being Abel. I was leaning towards Abel because 1) he had performed work in my village (his name was also on the list of registered roofers I requested from village) and 2) his impressive list of references. However, the other company's price was $300 cheaper, their labor warranty was 2 years longer, and their quote included 3 sheets of plywood. So I emailed Jeff listing the difference between his quote and the quote from the other company. Jeff called me immediately and agreed to match the other company's price, labor warranty period, and include 3 sheets of plywood in his revised quote. He updated his proposal and faxed it to me and I immediately signed and returned it to him. My appointment was scheduled for Oct 2nd. However, Jeff called me on September 24th to tell me he had an opening for the next day. I had no problem with earlier start date. Jeff and his crew arrived at 7am and immediately starting working. They worked nonstop - I didn't see any of them take any breaks. I went and got lunch for the crew. I know they ate but I never saw them so it had to be one of the quickest and shortest lunch breaks in history. At my request, they removed my existing gutters at no additional charge. They finished the roof around 7pm. They did an excellent job and I would highly recommend them!!

I talked to a village inspector here and he recommended them to me. So far the work looks good as I didn't have a bad weather so far. I would rate them excellent as they did a good job and cleaned everything up. Their price was less as I had got an estimate from another company and their price was really a lot higher. They were not going to do as many things as I wanted but these people put up more gutters and I was very much more satisfied with them. I had heard many good things about the other company but I was not happy with them or with the way they spoke to me or the way they acted. They wanted 20% of money one day before when I told them that I would pay the full amount the next day but Abel Roofing told me to pay the money after they finished the work and that is what they did. They put some gutters up in the places where I didn't have any and explained to me there needed to be some. They changed some stuff also to make the roof stay longer and I think they paid attention to small stuffs like that. It was not like put something up in a hurry and get out of here. They were very responsive they came out right away when I called. I called one afternoon then few hours later they came out. The guy that came told that he was dirty and asked sorry for the appearance as he had come from a job and I told him that it showed he was working. So far I am satisfied with them. They were here on time and when they said they would be here. They did the job in one day. They were professional about their work.
