The quality of work was excellent and the people were very helpful and professional. The problem was with the quote and ending price for the job. I requested bids from three companies. Mauch was the lowest bid. But as the work progressed the bid kept going up His first bid was $27,450. That went up to $27,675. At $30,675 I asked if this was a firm price and David Mauch said it was. But it was not. At this same time my husband was having open heart surgery, which did not go smoothly, so I felt I was being taken advantage of. The final price was $38,849, which we simply could not pay. Between the medical bills and the inflated cost of the new roof, our entired investment account was gone. We are retired and that money will not be replaced. I told Mr. Mauch that all I had was $34, 425. He claimed he was going into the red but I have no documents to prove that. Because of this issue, I would never again use Mauch Carpentry, even though I was pleased with the quality of the job done.
