As a house warming gift, my parents begged me to allow them to hire a painter they met 2 weeks prior, to complete the painting I started.The home was a foreclosure and I had my hands full of other tasks. They told the painter to contact me & get a complete list of what was to be done & the price was no issue, just get the list, quote it out w/time frame & complete it. She painted the liv/din rm w/o a problem just got paint all over the floor, but only paint 1/2 the trim left other 1/2 in primer. She was told it had to be completed within 5 business days, as we were moving in that coming Saturday. She worked 2 days that week & didn't complete the work, said give me a week and I'll be back, over a week later she comes back to do the foyer, primes and puts 1 coat of paint on it, being gray color and eggshell it needed two coats and she acknowledge this. We told her that the paint we had bought may not be enough to finish, but to just call us and we'd get her more. She said don't worry I can get the paint at the same discount I'll take care of it. At the end of the 3rd day she ran over to my mothers house (prior to my coming home and reviewing the work) & said she was done & that she had run out of paint & tried to contact my fianc e & I, but we never called her back. She never called either of us!. She proceeded to tell my mother she was done & gave her the total and my mother paid her, not knowing how horrible my home looked. She only put 1 coat of paint on the foyer & left the cut ins so wavy my 8 yr old daughter said, that looks bad. I also told her that prior to doing the entry she had to clean the window and install a new vent cover I purchased, or she would have to wait for me to, as I didn't want to put the later against the new paint on a 2 story foyer, she said no problem, she would be happy to take care of it. Upon arriving home the final evening (now two and a half weeks from start date) I noticed that the paint only had 1 coat, the trim in the entry was all still in primer, & she didn't just not clean the window but got a HUGE glob of paint on it. Vent wasn't installed, doors weren t complete, master bdrm cut ins weren't done, bath still needed another coat or two along edges as original purple paint was coming through. Upon contacting the painter and stating how unacceptable it was, I was told she couldn't be back for 2 to 3 weeks, that it would be another $400 for the foyer plus costs for the trim, doors, bath and mstr bdrm and "oh we don't do windows" I'm not left with walls that look horrible with the primer coming through, doors partially unpainted, new carpet in, but baseboards still in primer. She didn't complete ANY task 100%, she delayed the project over 2 weeks & then said it would cost more for her to finish, but couldn't finish for another 2 to 3 weeks. She talks a good talk, about how she wouldn't leave a house in a way she wouldn't accept hers. I guess she lives in a dump? Look out for these painters Sarah & Christian.
