Berggren Door

Lee Berggren came highly recommended by a trusted local handyman. I asked for an estimate to fix one of the doors. He said he'd be over in 15 minutes. He was. The door was fixed in under an hour at the price he quoted. He also adjusted, oiled, and fixed the other door at no additional charge. A man who takes great pride in his work who can find? His worth is far more precious than rubies. I recommend Lee Berggren without hesitation.

Garage door was stopping and then reopening about 9 inches from the ground. Lee came out the same day we called (without an additional rush charge) and discovered that our wall components had gotten out of alignment, so he remounted them to fix the issue. Also -- without being asked -- he performed maintenance tasks to keep the door running smoothly in the future. What really was exceptional, though, was that he provided us with an additional remote at NO cost, since the garage door opener we have is no longer manufactured and he had an extra one. Lee mentioned that they rely mostly on referrals for their business and that they don't do much advertising. I can see why they don't need to advertise -- they do great work!

Couldn't have been smoother. He arrived on time (that he estimated), got right to work, completed it quickly, got paid and left. He answered the questions we had - courteously - and did a great job.

I had contractor out twice in last couple years for a quote, then some other, more urgent project would come up requiring me to postpone replacing the garage door. I called Lee back and advised I was ready to go forward if he wanted to come back and give me a new estimate. He asked if I still had the estimate from the year before and I did. He asked that I read it to him and advised he would honor the previous quote. He gave me some guidelines of what I needed to tell him regarding the type and style of door I wanted. I reviewed the manufacturers website and called Lee back and told him what I wanted. Because I wanted something that was a little different, it wasn't in stock but in a few days Lee had the door and called me to schedule the install. He methodically removed the old door. The bottom panel was so rotted he could not lift it in one piece to put on the roof of his van for removal and disposal. It folded in half like it was cardboard. Then he removed and replaced all the track and hardware, installed the new door, and the new opener. He even fixed an issue with the way the old door was installed where it didn't close at the top completely flush with the frame. I always thought it was because the opening is shorter in height than newer construction, but it was really because it wasn't installed properly. The new door is quieter in operation and safer as the previous door didn't have the electronic eye if a child crossed the opening as it was closing. It's better insulated as well. The only issue was it looks so good, the exterior trim of the garage and the outside lights look shabby in comparison. So I spent the weekend repainting the trim and installing larger, more stylish lights. I think I just increase my resale value by $5K.

When we called for an estimate the representative came out the same day. He arrived on time and after we told him what we were looking for he talked to us about options giving us quotes for 3 different doors. He answered all of our questions and pointed out some things we hadn't known to ask. He had samples of the colors and helped us choose the door that would best fit our needs. He did not push the most expensive option, but gave us the pros and cons and let us decide what we wanted. He also discussed the different options for electric door openers and what he recommended. Once we had agreed on a door and a price I remembered that I wanted an external key pad and he added it without charging us. We then agreed on a date for installation (one week later) and a time. On the day of installation the same person came to install the door. We were amazed that he did it by himself! He showed up on time again and began work right away. he removed the old door, the tracks, installed the new tracks, new door and new opener - in just about 3 hours total. He took away all of the old pieces and left the place better than when he arrived. He took the time to explain how everything worked and even programmed my a gadget on my car (that I didn't know I had) to open the new door. The most impressive thing he did was to leave the nails on the trim out about a 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. We had told him we were having this done before we had new siding installed and without our asking he said that would allow the aluminum wrap to be placed under the trim as it should be so the door trim wouldn't be damaged. Our siding representative was very happy with that and said it would make their job much easier. Who knew? Certainly not us. He told us that if the siding people didn't want to tap in the nails he would be happy to come back and do it for us. We were completely satisfied with our door and door opener. It is much quieter than our old one, looks great, is insulated and has weather stripping that keeps the wind out. I would not hesitate to recommend Berggren Garage Doors.

Lee showed up right on time and explained how he was going to replace the broken spring as well as the cost to do so. We felt the quote was very reasonable. After replacing the broken spring in record time, Lee went the extra mile and lubed the rest of our garage door openers so that they opened with less resistance and noise. Lee was very friendly and willing to answer any questions in detail. The job was handled in a very professional manner and we'd recommend this company to anyone needing a garage door opener or broken spring replacement based on the excellent and efficient service we received.
