Description of Work: I interviewed 7 heating/ac providers in the Champaign-Urbana and surrounding cities and towns area. After a careful and comprehensive review of each company I found myself impressed with 3 or 4 of them; including the specificity of proposal details and clarity concerning warranty and the equipment manufacturer's track record. However, of the 7 "adequate" and "good" companies that I conversed with, one stood out as "great." I will not identify the 6 ac/furnace providers that did not meet my expectation. I am most pleased to express that the P&P Service Center in mahomet was the exceptional organization. Two words best capture my observation and my experience with the P&P Service Center -- "professionalism" and "customer-focus." While just about all of the 7 companies I spoke with could more or less obtain access to the same or similar equipment, I observed that P&P's expert Chuck Thompson took the initiative to explain carefully the differences among the various equipment and manufacturers without trying to sell me. Instead, he provided me with brochures concerning the different equipment and lin ks to their websites. He encouraged me to investigate customer resources such as Consumer Reports and, yes, Angie's List, to determine how independent and objective reviewers reported about his and other HVAC companies. I mention this because I felt that just about all of the other providers made me feel pressed or pushed to purchase their product or service, whether or not intentionally. P&P impressed me immensely because the ongoing focus was on finding a solution to my heating and AC needs. The focus and attention was no on how well some multi-stage furnace or new-and-improved AC condensor might work. It was centrally on what my needs were, what might enable me to meet those needs most economically and environmentally responsibly, and what my anticipated needs might be in the next 5 to 10 years, so that I would not purchase a system that could be obsolete within 3 or so years. In summary, I now have had the opportunity to run the system on hot and cold days and have found total satisfaction with the equipment. This complements wonderfully the outstanding installation work that P&P performed -- from arriving at my home and completing the work as scheduled and at the price agreed upon. There were no hidden surpsie charges like one gets from cell phone companies or auto dealers. Mr. Thompson and Nelson worked efficiently, and they were exceptionally mindful about not damaging anything inside or outside of the house. The clean up of the installation debris of removed immediately and they took the initiative to reinstall the thermostat to a different room at no cost, even after I first assured them that I wanted it in another location. Of special note, P&P was the sole provider who expressed to me the availability of power company and equipment manufacturer rebates and how I could fold those into the project to reduce my out of pocket expense, rather than having to wait to mail in and receive the rebates, as one has to do at Best Buy and most other retailers. I do not recall that either of the other providers agreed to, in effect, advance me the value of the rebates to lower my upon completion cost. Indeed, my recolelction is that 4 of them mentioned only the electric and gas company rebate -- even though when I went to their equipment manufacturers' websites I descerned that a rebate would be available with the purchase of that equipment. I like to think positive, so I prefer to think that these were oversights, rather than intentional efforts to keep the rebates for themselves. I will end with one point that regularly causes me to smile whenever I hear the very quiet furnace or AC heat or cool off our home. Durig our discussions I expressed to P&P that 3 of the other providers who gave me quotes had demonstyrated significantly more extensive "service" components that would be at-hand to come and repair my system in the event of an outtage. Chuck Thompson looked at me and smiled as he said: "Do you want a system that works, or do you want a system that will have lots of service techs available when it fails?" Everytime I see one of those repair service trucks rolling about town, I smile and laugh inside that I don't need a P&P truck to make a house call because P&P installed the equipment correctly the first time -- intitally.

Description of Work: Our A/C for the house stopped working. We called P&P to determine the problem, which turned out to be a hole in the compressor. They offered us several alternatives from replacing the compressor to replacing the full system. They took the time to explain each alternative and they answered my questions to my satisfaction.
