I spoke with Jim and one of his techs a couple of times to ask questions about the differentiators between the two systems. They were happy to take my call and answer my questions. I decided on the Amana system and asked them to install a new smart thermostat I had purchased. We were able to schedule installation the next week. Installation was fine; the techs were done within a few hours. The techs were professional and friendly, and they completely cleaned up once the job was done. I did notice a problem the next day and called. I received a return call within a few minutes, and within a couple hours later the tech was at my door and the issue was resolved. His office team submitted all of the warranty paper work and provided the needed information to claim energy rebates offered by my local natural gas and electricity utilities. Overall, I was pleased with the entire process and the people who performed the work.
Description of Work: My central air condensing unit failed. It was 24 years old. Jim came out and was able to get it limping along until I made decision on how to proceed. I was planning on replacing the entire HVAC system because I knew it was aging and nearing end-of-life. Jim and his team sent me two proposals, one using a Lennox system and using an Amana system.

He was able to identify the problem and fix the leak. I thought he did a nice job but his price for the service seemed a little high. Especially when I asked how much it would cost to do a duct cleaning and he said $750.00. I thought it should be half of that cost from personal experience in the past so that made me wonder about the pricing. Other than that I was very pleased with the service.

The men were hear early in the morning of the day of installation to measure the size of sheet metal needed. They were back shortly after, to remove old A/C and an old April Air unit and to install sheet metal then the new A/C unit. They tested it to make sure all was working well. I didn't need a new April Air unit. They cleaned their work area and removed all old sheet metal and both old units. I was very happy with their professionalism.

Dave Lennox saved us $2,500 +. He was the sixth technician to inspect one of the 70+ Magic-Pak units we have installed in our apartment buildings. He was the only technician who was determine to understand what was wrong with the unit in order to see if he could fix it. Two other companies/technicians had not seen this unit before - one did not know how to remove the access panel and the other shut the gas off and said the unit was dangerous and that we needed to replace it. Two companies/technicians walked away from the job, stating that they had never worked on this type of unit before (more common in Chicago), and the last person, before Dave, said we should just replace it, without looking at the unit. Dave blew us away with his determination and dedication to find the problem and fix it if he could. He respected what other technicians had said, but would not absently corroborate their diagnosis. Rather, he took apart the unit and found a large wasp nest buried high up in the vent. He vacuumed it out, put the unit back together, tested it, and handed us a bill for $180. I am so grateful for the skill and integrity of this man. In an industry saturated with dishonesty, laziness, and a lack of talent, this was a pleasant experience. Dave could have pocketed $2,500+, but he didn't. And now we plan to reward him with any work we need done on the rest of the units, and the many other buildings we own. That's how important this experience was for us. And by the way, this young man is in his 30's. Technicians much older than him can learn from his example. Thank you Dave, East Cherry Vale Apts

For the 1st two visits I paid almost 600 in parts but they recognized this spend as a payment for the new one. They were very professional.

Called them first thing this morning, Jim was a referral from another contractor I had just used. Within two hours Jim himself came out and gave me the straight skinny as to what was going on with my situation. Extremely personable and friendly individual...straight shooter, no BS...he could have taken advantage of a situation, but did not. All service companies should be run like Jim Holder Heating and Air Conditioning. We noticed that our A/C was cooling the house fine, but periodically the system would pulse, kind of a slow down, then back to normal operation. Thinking that some component was about to fail, we called Jim Holder. Phone was answered by a very pleasant woman. I explained that this was not an emergency, and told her what little I could about the problem. She asked if we could wait until the next day, which was no problem. She also asked what time would work for us, and I told her any time after 1:00pm was great. She said that we would receive a call when the service tech was 30 minutes from arrival. At the stroke of 1:00pm, the same woman called us (sorry, I can't recall her name) and said the tech would be arriving in less than 30 minutes, which he did. Of course when the service tech arrived, the A/C system was running fine. He ran several diagnostic tests, but there were no apparent issues. So we chatted for about 20 minutes, waiting for the problem to surface, and boom-bada-bing...the system pulsed. Service guy immediately narrowed down the cause of the issue, and within another 30 minutes had replaced the faulty fan relay board with a part from his truck. I won't hesitate to call Jim Holder in the future.

All in all, it was a very enlightening experience.
Description of Work: I had asked for an estimate to replace my A/C and furnace, because i had been told that my A/C was inoperable. The service man from Jim Holder was able to fix the A/C for a minimal amount. The other two companies that i contacted didnt even try to fix it. When I'm finally ready to replace the units, I'll call Jim Holder.

Just recently purchased our home and needed to have the furnace serviced as the blower would not shut off. We called Jim Holder Heating & A/C and they came out the same day, within an hour of the initial call. The gentleman was very professional and courteous. He checked the furnace and quickly located the problem. We have a woodburner that connects to the blower on the furnace and the sensor was not adjusted properly, which would not allow the blower to shut off. He adjusted the sensor, and replaced the sensor switch cover. This resolved the problem, but, based on the age of our furnace (it is 26 years old) he did a thorough inspection of our furnace and aside from needing a new filter, he said he was pleasantly surprised that it is in very good working condition. I would gladly use Jim Holder Heating & A/C again and would recommend in a heartbeat to anyone who needs furnace/air conditioning work done. Very professional, great work, very reasonable price. (We are in the country, and the cost for them to come out was very reasonable)

Had a technician come out on routine service call and they were very prompt. I told technician what the problem was because I had fixed it before on my own. He had the part in the van. He then told me that since I had fixed it before that he would just give me the part if I wanted to fix it again and there would be no service charge, just charge for parts. Great idea. Replaced the part. Furnace ran for a couple of days, then same problem. Long story short......technician came back out, checked everything thoroughly, called the boss out for his opinion and told me that the exchanger could be cracked causing furnace to go out on high limit. They also told me that CO2 could be seeping into the house. Unbeknownst to them my CO2 alarm had gone off a couple of times. They said they could fix the problem but they suggested a new furnace since mine was 20 yrs old. Wise choice since I also got the gov. rebate by a couple of days! They even gave me credit for the part I bought a few days earlier. They were very prompt and professional. They laid plastic down throughout the house as to not track anything. I was very happy with their work and wouldnt hesitate to use them again.

We are happy with them. Their prices were little bit better than some of the local competition around here. They came out promptly. We had a problem and they promised they would install the furnace the next day and they did. No problem. We then had them install two other furnaces and there was no problem with both. They did when they said they would do it at the price they quoted. I would use their services in the future.
