Their bid was competitive even though they were recommending to completely rebuild the portion of the chimney above the roofline while other companies wanted to try and repair the heavily deteriorated chimney. Once on the job Coast to Coast worked to the schedule, kept the site very clean, and finished on time. I can't say enough about what a pleasure it was working with Romen. I would recommend them without reservation and plan to use them again in the future.

Description of Work: Prior to the estimate, in our conversation with Coast to Coast Masonry they were informative and eager to work with us. Then the company called us to confirm, prior to Mr. Romen Zajac appearing promptly at our door. We were very pleased with his exceptionally thorough examination of our basement foundation. With unusual generosity, he explained structures we knew nothing of so well that we understood what we were in store for. This later checked out when we made other inquiries. Within a few days we received a detailed estimate.

 + 1 moreWe were very satisfied with Roman and his employees of Coast to Coast. Roman took the time to explain in detail exactly what was needed to be done and why. He said he would apply for the necessary permits from the city since he knew what they would be looking for. Roman's estimate was close to the other estimates that we had received. We really liked that Roman (Coast to Coast) uses employees rather than subcontractors to do the work. He also offered an additional 10% discount if we had everything done on his proposal. We did not feel the need to have the lower part of the rear chimney power washed but Roman still gave us the 10% discount anyway. His crew answered any questions that I asked in a way that I could understand why things had to be done a certain way. The city inspector was impressed with the quality of the work that was done. We are so pleased with the work they have done and are enjoying the look of the new chimney and maintenance that was done on the front chimney cap and by the garage door. We would use them again for any future masonry jobs and highly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Remove and rebuild the rear chimney from flashing up due to bricks flaking, replace deteriorating bricks on the garage front, maintenance on the front chimney and apply a protective sealant when all brick work was completed. Roman came out exactly when the appointment was scheduled for and did a thorough inspection of our rear chimney, front chimney and garage front, Roman dropped off a brick sample for our approval because he could not get the exact brick due to the age of our house. Three workers arrived on time and first covered the plants around the chimney so not to damage them, then they set up to start working and kept cleaning up as they went. Two came back the next day to remove the forms for the new cap. Roman came to view the completed chimney and to find out if we were satisfied. Our only concern at that time was since the new brick are smaller than the old bricks and that the flashing at the base of the chimney had to be re-caulked there might be some leaking caused when it rains or snow melting. Roman reassured us that there would be no leaks and if there happens to be any they would be right out to reseal the flashing. We were very satisfied with the work but Roman was not and before the work was to be sealed he wanted some change made. He then had an employee come out and power wash the lower part of the rear chimney, clean up the bricks that they were able to salvage from the old chimney and use for the repair on the front of the garage so that they were a better match to the bricks already on the front of the garage and to get a better color match between the old mortar and the now mortar. For that he did not charge anything extra. Then the protective sealant was put on.

 + 1 moreUpon our OK the team began repair almost immediately. The pouring of the cap and all brickwork was completed in one day. Care was taken to protect the roofing and clean-up was excellent, i.e. gutters, vacuuming existing fireplaces for an debris that may have fallen etc. All scaffolding etc were removed within two days. In total we are very pleased with their work and the final charges were significantly less than other estimates. They also give a discount if you mention Angie's list.
Description of Work: DUE TO WIND STORM AND LIGHTNING STRIKE A LARGE TREE FELL ON OUR ROOF AND ON A TWO FIREPLACE CHIMNEY. The owner Romen Zajac quickly responded with a visit and estimate and offered alternatives such as re-building it with exiting bricks. Two other competing bidders estimates were only to re-build with new bricks. Roman even made a second visit to inspect, take out a few bricks etc the be certain that his team could actually use the existing bricks. [This was important since these bricks are no longer made and match the house].

 + 1 moreThis work was extremely professional. The team showed up on time and worked all day. One of the partners, Stan, was there most of the day to also perform work and to supervise. After the work was finished and the chimney cap forms were in place, the team cleaned up so that the site was better than when they had found it. After this installation, we were away on vacation. While we were away, Coast to Coast came back to remove the forms and to seal the concrete. I am very pleased with this company's work.
Description of Work: Coast to Coast 1) tuckpointed the fire box and a bit above it, 2) installed a new chimney liner at the top 2'-0" of the chimney since ours had split, 3) poured a new concrete cap to replace a cracked one, and 4) installed one or two rows of brickwork that supports the concrete chimney cap since the brick had begun to fall apart.

 + -1 moreRomen came in promptly the day after I called for an estimate and a week later I scheduled him to come over to do the job. The morning that he was supposed to come in, it was raining pretty heavy and he called nearly 3 hours after the scheduled time to tell me that he will come in only at noon because of rain. Although I was disappointed that he called so late, I can understand that there's no point in doing a job on exterior wall while it's raining. He came in at 1pm and finished the job by 5. The job was done clean, he didn't affect any of my plants, and cleaned up the area so there was no cement/mortar left behind. He reused some old bricks an left over backing from his other jobs; while I was not totally happy about, but at the same time he made sure they matched well. He assured me that if anything were to go wrong with the work in future he will come over and fix it for free. That was reassuring for me. He matched the mortar as well. So overall I'm very satisfied and would definitely reuse/recommend him.

 + 2 moreRomen came out within two days of my original call and provided an email and hard mail copy of his estimate. Work was scheduled within 3 weeks. Crew showed up on time and spent 7 hours completing all three jobs. We have not had any rain since the work was done, so I haven't had the chance to test the success of the waterproofing work in the basement, but the foreman, Stanley, did tell me that it is possible a second coat of waterproofing may be needed, and to just call if there are any problems and they will come back and fix it. I have since recommended Coast to Coast to a friend, who will be using the company to rebuild two chimneys at his house.
Description of Work: There were three parts to the job. First, the chimney cap was replaced and rain guard added. In basement, one corner (approx. 6x10 feet) of cinder block foundation had deteriorated, causing seepage during heavy rains, so Coast to Coast replaced mortar between blocks and added waterproof over blocks and mortar. Also, a crumbled patch of exterior foundation under a new door thresh hold was re-mortared. Bonus: while the guys were up on the roof, they reinserted a j-channel that had come loose from the siding of the upper floor of the house during a recent storm.

Coast to Coast was on time for the estimate, on time for the removal and installation of the new cement block and on time for tuckpointing and spraying my chimney. They also cleaned up after they were finished. In addition, I had on hand fourteen (14) bags of cement as I was going to put in a new 8 ' x 8' block myself - Coast to Coast was very receptive in using the 14 bags of cement so that I would not have to haul them back to Menards. I feel that the $2200.00 was well worth it - also, it was all done in one (1) day. Also, at the same time I was installing a new rose garden and had about two (2) cubic yards of cement, clay soil, and whatever else - who hauled it away at no charge, Coast to Coast. Would I use Coast to Coast again, definitely!
Description of Work: We got a quote from Coast to Coast Masonry group and decided to go with them. Coast to Coast removed an 8' X 8' cement block and poured a new block. In addition, they tuckpointed my chimney and subsequently sprayed the chimney with a protective liquid.

Work area was completely cleaned up following the work (including the crew cleaning our gutters as a bonus). Romen followed up the day after the work to make sure everything was in order. By happenstance, we had unexpected heavy rain the night after the work was performed. Romen made sure any issues that were caused by the rain were corrected fully and spent several hours insuring the work was of the highest quality and perfect from an aesthetic perspective. We will definitely be calling Coast-To-Coast for any future needs.

 + 1 moreIt went well. Communication before, during, and after the project was good. The crew was polite, neat, and prompt. They arrived when they said they would and did as much or more than they said they would. The set-up was unobtrusive and the clean-up was very thorough. Any time I wished, the foreman would stop what he was doing to explain to me what was going on and answer any questions I had. Roman followed up afterward to ensure that I was happy. It hasn't rained yet, so I don't know it leaks again, but they asked me to notify them immediately if we have any problems.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate for repair of a leaking chimney. Roman came out a day or two later and, after an extensive inspection, gave me a detailed estimate on the work that he felt should be done to satisfactorily fix the leak. His crew came out about a week later. They disassembled the old chimney, repaired and replaced the damaged structure under the brick, and rebuilt the chimney using stouter construction techniques than were originally used.

Took pictures of interior and showed me the problems that I could not see from my point of view on the ground - it was obvious to me that the exterior of the chimney was deteriorating but he showed me what needed attention on the interior. He gave me a few options and the prices of those option. Emailed me and mailed me a thorough and professional quote. All details were as mentioned in our conversation. The men who came to do the work were very polite, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. They completed the work exactly as I had hoped it would be done and as the owner had explained it would be done. When I had a question during the time the work was being completed, I received a response within the same day that I asked the question. I rarely have things go right when I hire home improvement companies. I am thrilled and would recommend Coast to Coast who needs any sort of masonry work completed.

 + 1 moreI'm very happy that I used them to the work on my house. Romen was on time for his estimate price was computable to others he did explain everything clearly to me so I could understand. The proposal was very professional, the whole project took approximately a week they were very clean and neat very nice people to work with. My fire place looks beautiful. The mortar on the house is matching very well I cant tell the difference where the spot tuck-pointing was done. Romen took his time and brought over samples of the brick before installation for my approval also the new brick is matching the old brick perfect. During the grinding they did cover my swimming pool and all flowers around the building. After they left my yard is cleaner than before.

 + 1 moreEstimate was very professional, pretty much in the middle of those received from mastonry companies. Roman was very responsive. Two workers spent the entire day on the first 12 rows of the chimney, also building a concrete cap, as well as removal of all construction material. Returned two days later to remove forms and clean worksite. Due to the age of the house, the exisiting bricks were difficult to match and Coast to Coast did the best they could. Happy with the results.
