Overall, I would say I am very happy with Coast to Coast. Their work is solid, and they were enjoyable to talk to and relatively responsive. I think the value of the work was definitely worth what was paid for the entire job. I would hire them again to work on any masonry issue. There were some slight hiccups in the process. First, it was a difficult timing of the project because we were also concurrently getting the flat asphalt roof replaced on the home. Coast to Coast wanted to get in first and do all the parapet walls prior to the roofers coming in and tearing off the roof. This caused some delays and setbacks - some due to spotty weather as well. It did seem like the masonry work started off a little slower pace than was expected based on the initial timeline. There were a few days when the foreman didn't show up at the same time (early) as the other workers, so there was some waiting around for leadership or the ability for me to ask questions of the foreman. The original plan was to have both chimneys torn down and re-built to the original height. I had that specified in the bid, because it appeared the chimney for my boiler had been added onto, and I wanted to ensure that the full height was maintained to keep the right draft. Once the project was being worked on - they decided to not re-build the chimney that was no longer in use. That decision was made basically by them - and I was informed of it. The working chimney was completed and then a day or two later I was noticing fumes in the basement. I went up to the roof, and it turned out that they had not built the chimney to the same height as it previously was. They had built it to the height in which they figured would be the right height based on commonly used height calculations. Unfortunately - that?s not what we needed or agreed to. There was some back and forth, and I showed pictures/measurements from the old chimney. They did agree that an additional 8-10 courses of bricks needed to be added. They performed the work and the chimney works now. I'm glad I had the old pictures to go back to in order to prove that the height was not correct. All in all - a good job was done. The chimney situation was the most frustrating, however as I mentioned, they did end up rebuilding it to the height in the quote. The other chimney didn't get rebuilt, however they did end up doing a fair amount of extra work on the parapet walls beyond what was in the original quote. I ended up paying additional money on top of the quote, however I feel the amount of work performed was worth it.
Description of Work: Virtually complete re-tuckpointing work on my 1911 brick two flat. Ground and tuckpointed the front limestone porch. Remove and re-build parapet walls (orignally planned to do 20' of them, but then determined they all needed to be rebuilt. Side elevations were also tuck pointed and bad bricks replaced. Two new glass block windows were installed in the basement to replace old traditional double hung windows. Glass blocks were removed from an existing window and bricks added to the bottom to rais it above grade. Two chimineys removed and re-built (only one chiminey ended up being rebuilt). Garage tuckpointed as necessary.

Roman came to the house within two days of my contacting his company. He assessed the current situation, described what had caused the problem, recommended several options. Within two days I received a proposal with two options and additonal sub options, detailed scope of work and copies of his insurance certificate and followed up to make sure I received the paperwork. He was always available for questions regarding the proposals. Within a week after returning the paperwork scaffolding, ladders and other materials arrived at the house and the folowing week work began. He kept me fully informed as to the progress of the work particularly if there were days they would not be working. All work was done in an extremely professional manner, house and lanscaping protected, and site cleaned up each day. The new chimeny is outstanding. When done Roman met with me to review the work The proposal had inadvertently omitted sealing the chimney. Roman recalled it being discussed on the day we met when he viewed the existing chimney. He had his crew come back at no charge to apply the sealing. Bottom line extremely professional, outstanding craftsman, highly pleased with the work.

Excellent job. New mortar was a perfect match for the 50 year old existing brick mortar. Water management system installed was spot on and built per code. Initial appointment was on time and work performed per schedule. Price was a little high relative to other quotes received but in this case I got what I paid for. Result on this custom job was excellent.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced eleven foot lintel and tuck pointed cracked mortar. Added openings for 2 windows by cutting through brick and six inch concrete wall. Added lintels and re-bricked opening. Installed new rock face limestone window sills.

Coast To Coast scheduled a visit to my house for a date about 5 days after I first called to request an estimate. Roman Zajac came to my house punctually at the scheduled time. After viewing my chimney, he told me what my options were. He emailed a written proposal late the following day, providing me with 5 options for the various alternatives of chimney work that he and I had discussed during his visit. it was clear and precise as to what my alternatives were and responsive to my questions and observations. The day after I faxed my acceptance of one of the options set forth in his proposal, Coast To Coast called to schedule the work for the next following day. Two masons arrived at 9 am on the day scheduled for the work, erected scaffolding and, working industriously for about 5 or 6 hours, completed most of the work. They returned for an hour or so 2 days later to remove the wood form used to pour the concrete, take down the scaffolding and clean up.
Description of Work: Dismantled and rebuilt chimney from top, 8 brick courses down. Poured new concrete cap reinforced with wire mesh.

The two man crew showed up at the exact scheduled time. The crew removed the old cap which had to be split into pieces in order to remove it. They then attached forms to the chimney and poured a new cap. After the cap was poured they tuck-pointed all the places that the mortar had fallen out. This crew was there for about 7 hours. They were very professional and clean up was excellent. The next crew came in 3 days later to remove the forms and wash the areas that were tuck-pointed. Again the crew was right on time and completed the task in an hour. Clean up and work again was excellent. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Coast to Coast provided a very thorough and professional estimate. I would definitely use them in the future for any masonry needs simply based on my interactions with them over the phone and in person, the detail and thoroughness of the estimate, and responsiveness that was given. Although we ended up going with a general contractor that used his own masonry guys and wouldn't allow us to choose our own (long story) - Given the opportunity we would use Coast to Coast in the future and may actually be contacting them in the spring for some tuck point work that is needed.
Description of Work: I contacted this provider for an estimate while I was in the process of getting estimates for a rather large repair to the front exterior of our home due to a drunk driver hitting our house. Due to the timing of my request many providers that I contacted refused to give an estimate or provided a very basic and uncomprehensive estimate of the work needed.

I have a 1946 Georgian brick home that was in desperate need of repair. Many of the bricks (which are concrete) were in need of replacement; 13 window lintels were in need of replacement; the limestone copings were damaged and most of the mortar joints were in need of repair. I obtained estimates from 3 masons and after a great deal of consideration, I decided to use Coast to Coast Masonry Group, Inc. I cannot begin to say enough about this group. Their proposal was the most detailed and their estimate was by far the most reasonable. Once I signed the proposal, they scheduled a start date (3 weeks in advance) and, true to word, they began on that date (almost unheard of these days). Everyone on the crew (usually 3 men on any given day) was professional, courteous and detail oriented. They went out of their way to keep their work area (which included my front and back yard) as clean as possible; the foreman answered all of my questions; and updates were provided on a regular basis. The final product exceeded my expectations--my house looks wonderful. I highly recommend Coast to Coast Masonry Group, Inc. without reservation.

The work was done in two stages. First the tuckpointing was done and allowed to set. Next the caps were installed and sealed on two flues. Men had all requried equipment and worked with minimum of interaction with home owner. All work looks excellent, and work area was neat and left as if they hadn't been there. They know what they are doing, they do it well, and are courteous as well. Recommend them with no reservations.

Romen and his team were great. Professional and responsive throughout the process. Romen worked with me on the quotation process and adapted his quote to fit our needs. After we decided to get the work done they worked with us on the schedule to get the work done ASAP. Once work started, the team was prompt and got the work done cleanly and quickly. They met the schedule even with 3 days of weather delay for the outside work. Additionally, the crew identified some work that needed to be done on our parapet and completed the work at no extra charge. Where do you find contractors that do extra work without extra charge? Answer, you don't, Coast to Coast are just good honest people that value building relationships. I would absolutely work with Coast to Coast again, in fact I am finally writing this review because I need to get a quote from them for tuckpointing. I have no doubt that I'll be using Coast to Coast again.

In May 2013 Coast to Coast did a Chimney rebuild and tuck-pointing work. They did an excellent job and I provided an excellent review in June for there work. Over the week-end I noticed there was 12x12 section of tuckpointing I failed to mark as needing to be done when they were here in May. Thus I sent an email to Roman to see if the hairline crack along my foundation wall could fixed whenever they were in the area. In the email I stated I realized it was a small job and I offered to pay for what I assume would be 1 hours work. I sent the email on Labor Day (09/02/2013). I received an email from Roman on 09/03/13 in the morning and stating someone would be out in the afternoon. In addtion there would be NO charge ! Sure enough someone stopped by and did the tuck-pointing this afternoon. When I hired Coast to Coast initially in May it was based on the outstanding reviews found on Angies list in addition to my conversations with Roman. Coast to Coast deserves all the accolades received and then some more. They obviously have great commitment to service in addition to the quality work. I am glad that I found Coast to Coast in Angies list and that my expectations were exceeded on all measurements. Update - 09/07/2013 I was out looking around my house this week-end and was pleasantly surprised to find out Coast to Coast must have come back out again this week to paint the tuck-pointing done on the 3rd ! I never asked for them to paint nor was there an expectation for them to come back out and paint so what a pleasant surprise again. Its nice to know that a skilled service orientated company still exist today. Thanks Coast to Coast.

The business owner, Romen Stajac, did the estimate. He was prompt, curteous, and provided a detailed, price competitive bid, including an option to repair rather than rebuilding the chimney. We got three estimates, and Coast to Coast's was essentially equal to the other low bidder, but provided more detail. The other bid was about 40% higher, and rejected on a cost basis. We chose to rebuild, rather than repair the chimney. The crew that did the work arrived on schedule, and did a thorough professional job. They left the repair site clean, and were friendly and responsive to my questions. I would heartily recommend Coast to Coast.

This was a major job which was completed on time and although it remains to be seen if the waterproofing was successful, the work was done efficiently and aside from the messy nature of grinding out old mortar with a minimum of mess. The craftsmen arrived on time and vastly improved the look of the house. Romen provided a thorough proposal after walking our property and educating us on the job we needed. He was always available even though not onsite for the work but his supervisor was able to communicate any challenges which arose during the work. I doubt that I will need this work done again, however I would rehire Coast to Coast again. I recommend them to all Angie's List members that need their services.

We had the good fortune to find Romen and his Coast to Coast team on Angie's list. Romen responded to our call quickly and brought such an enthusiastic and professional demeanor to his on site estimate. He walked our entire property and did not look for ways to pad his estimate as so many contractors try to do when bidding in certain zip codes. Romen provided us with two options as to how we could achieve our goals for this project. In doing so, Romen was considerate and not presumptuous when it came to our budget. He has excellent knowledge of materials and procedures. Romen mapped out an efficient work plan for his team and they were prompt and polite and it was comfortable to have them around our home for the time they spent here. The masons were attentive to the landscaping and sprinkler system and disturbed nothing (which is very important to the author of this review). The cleanup was immaculate and we only wish we could find more contractors like Coast to Coast who did not falter once during the entire process of working at our home. Romen has excellent follow-through and brought the project to a close with a wonderful well earned smile when he came back to our home to register his and our satisfaction of the project by examining all the work provided. We look forward to being able to refer Romen to our friends, clients and neighbors for their residential and commercial projects.

The experience I had and will continue in the future with Coast to Coast masonry was very pleasant and professional. Romen is very professional and makes sure you are 100% happy with the work. He came out to my house twice prior to starting the proposed work. He offered great ideas and went out of his way to answer all our questions for our ailing brick ranch. The worked was performed by very hard working and courteous professionals. I was amazed at how fast they performed the work at hand and how great it looked. We receive many compliments on the finish product from friends and neighbors and are very happy! I have called Romen already to fix a few other areas around my house and he has responded very fast and professionally. Excellent experience, from the estimate to job completion. The estimate was very thorough, made an assessment of the entire house, including going up on the roof to examine and photograph the chimney. The price was reasonable, and we especially appreciated that the estimate included materials. The work was completed by a crew of skilled craftsmen, who worked everyday until the job was complete. They cleaned up every day and didn't leave any mess behind. They even replaced some mismatched bricks at no extra charge. I will call them again the next time I need masonry work, and I have already recommended them to several friends.

Stanley promptly came out to advise about basement waterproofing and gave me three helpful suggestions to improve exterior water exposure for the house (since I told him I was not prepared to do any extensive interior work, if needed). One of his suggestions was the sealing and caulking around the driveway side of the house and front steps. The other two helpful suggestions are to be done by people other than masons. Needless to say, the job went smoothly, it looks great and got a compliment on how the caulking looks.
Description of Work: Applied caulk between house and driveway and sealed cracks around front steps.
