It went well. I had a vision, and Richard helped me think through those things that I hadn't already thought through. As a first-time experience working with an architect, I found it really makes the renovation process clearer and smoother.

I called Richard in Jan 2015 to get a quote for design and plans for an old house demolition and building a new construction one family residential home. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and passionate about what he's doing. He was very responsive and addressed quickly all my concerns. We spent about 2 hours on our first meeting reviewing the existing old house and presenting my views for the new house. It wasn't an easy case as the small size lot gave us some challenges in meeting the Village of Niles codes. Richard was very helpful in asking for 3 variances from the Village and they all got approved. The plans took about 2 months to be finished after. And he did a great work with it, paying attention to the smallest details. We are about 2 -3 months from finishing the construction of the house. And I already got lots of compliments about how beautiful the house looks. Thank you Richard!

The contract terms presented to us provided no flexibility in how we could use the provided project plans, nor any ability to pass those design plans on to a new home buyer, if we ever sold the home. The contract also stated that we the homeowners had to indemnify him should the plans be used outside of the prescribe project. Apparently, even though we would've paid almost $9000.00 dollars for his services, we wouldn't ever actually own the architect plans, even though its a work for hire situation. After several discussions with architect on these points and some revisions of the contract, made by his attorney, these requests were never actually provided. What was presented were changes that merely help strengthen his position. I decided to send this contract to my attorney for review, which he made an addendum to the entire contract, which did provide us the requests we had asked for all along. I sent the addendum to the architect, who responded by basically saying that the project never included the additional costs for his legal fees to review our attorney's addendum and was terminating our project. This clearly tells me that this provider is not flexible regarding his contract. It also tells me that other customers probably have not properly read or understood the contract presented to them. Make sure you read and understand the entire contract before proceeding with this provider.

Rich is a by-the-book professional and his final drawings were very good. The only criticism I would have, is that instead of making three trips out to my condo, he probably only really needed to make one trip. Having not worked with an architect before, I did not know that architects do not cut their own holes in the walls or cieling. It doesn't seem like a specialized skill, but that is not here nor there. Had there been better communication on what he required (holes cut in walls by my contractor while Rich was on-site), I think I would have saved myself significant cost. To be fair, he did decrease my final cost by $150.00 for the mis-communication. Overall, he was nice to work with, punctual, and always responded to my phone calls or emails. I would work with Rich again.

Richard Chuk is very prompt and professional and did a terrific job with our drawings. His work is thorough and timely and we're thrilled with the results.

We purchased a partially gutted home in Elgin and needed both design ideas and solid plans to proceed with the remodel. Richard visited the site several times to get accurate measurements, and then did three design reviews with us before providing the final set of blueprints. Mostly, we appreciated how much Richard listened to our needs and desires and made every attempt to incorporate them in the plans. At the same time, he was clear what to expect with the designs, and to tell us what expect going forward. Richard has also check back several times to make sure that the plans are suitable to the project thus far. We chose to hire our own subcontractors and I cannot stress the importance of having professionally made plans. All of the contractors have been able to quote off of a clear plan. Most importantly, Richard double checked the plans with the city planning department so that the permitting process goes smoothly. The plans gives a clear reference point that everyone can refer, and I would not have attempted this remodel without it.

We really liked the kitchen design. He was professional, heard what we asked for, provided option within our budget.

So far it has gone well. We have had three meetings with Mr. Chuk and are now waiting for bids. When the work is complete, I shall complete this review.

He came out to look at a small room I wanted to expand. He was very nice and knowledgeable and had my job been bigger I would have used him.

The job took about 3 weeks to a month after my wife kept making changes. Every time we met he was very organized, professional & informative. I was very pleased with all the steps from the initial meeting, preliminary drawings to the final plans we received.

Rich measured up and designed an incredible and usable layout for my unfinished basement. My space is smaller than most and he was able to come up with two, very creative and different designs that would maximize every square foot transforming it into valuable and comfortable living space for my family. His knowledge and expertise on the matter also brought to light many factors I need to consider when building that I would have never known about without his professional insight. I can tell that he is very passionate about his work and takes it very seriously. I highly recommend Rich for your next architectural design project! His knowledge and attention to every detail is second-to-none.

Richlind did a great job. Richard Chuk provided us with several design ideas, from simple to complex. He worked closely with us to ensure that we were happy with the final design and that it would meet our budget. He visited the site, took comprehensive notes and planned a deck that would work well in the allotted space. Once we selected a design, Richard drew up plans, which were accepted by the village for permit with no hitches. In addition to the plans, Richard did extensive research for building materials and made several recommendations. All in all the experience was excellent, the deck was built and everything passed final inspection. I found Rich's approach professional and thorough, and his designs were creative yet functional.
